AEW Rampage Preview for May 24, 2024

RAMPAGE is back home on Friday night this week, and back on TNT, but things are going down much earlier than normal as we head towards DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2024 on Sunday night! As the clock ticks away towards Sunday's pay-per-view extravaganza, the men and women of All Elite Wrestling are ready for combat and we've got TBS Champion Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander in tag team action on tap for the AEW faithful, as well as “The Bastard” PAC versus Rocky Romero, Samoa Joe, and RUSH taking on Isiah Kassidy!

The fights get underway at 6:00pm ET/5:00pm CT, followed by the COUNTDOWN TO DOUBLE OR NOTHING special, so get prepared with a visit to the official AEW YouTube channel, as well as our various social media platforms, for highlights from previous episodes of DYNAMITE, RAMPAGE, and COLLISION, as well as the latest edition of the CONTROL CENTER!

TAG TEAM MAIN EVENT...

TBS Champion Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander vs. Alex Windsor & Anna Jay

TBS Champion Willow Nightingale is just 48 hours away from the biggest fight of her career, even bigger than her NJPW STRONG Women's Title victory over Mercedes Moné because, for a year, Willow has had to live with knowing many people, Mercedes included, have an injury asterix next to that bout. It's added motivation for Nightingale heading into Sunday, more reason for her to fight harder than ever before to maintain her status as TBS Champion, but before she even gets to Las Vegas, Willow has to get past this tag team bout on Friday night!

Nightingale will unite with her best friend, former TBS Champion Kris Statlander, for this contest and standing across the ring the ring from them will be a familiar foe in Anna Jay, and a woman making her first appearance inside an AEW ring; Alex Windsor! A native of the UK, Alex Windsor was trained as a professional wrestler by the members of Saraya's family, and in her 15 years as a competitor, she's been a champion in the RevPro, Tokyo Joshi Pro, Southside, and EVE promotions, to name a few, and recently challenged Stephanie Vaquer for the NJPW STRONG Women's Championship. She's a tremendous competitor, and will give the TBS Champion and the former TBS Champion a tremendous fight right alongside Anna Jay!

ONE-ON-ONE...

“The Bastard” PAC vs. Rocky “Azucar” Romero

“The Bastard” PAC and The Lucha Brothers are gunning for The Bang Bang Gang this Sunday night, but before they get there Penta and Fenix have to get past Austin and Colten during Saturday's COLLISION. That doesn't mean PAC is standing idly by while his Death Triangle compatriots get to work, the exact opposite in fact, because this Friday evening on RAMPAGE the former AEW All-Atlantic Champion is heading into battle with Rocky “Azucar” Romero!

It's been 12 years since the last time these two warriors stood in the ring with one another, not since both participated in the NJPW BEST OF THE SUPER JUNIORS XIX tournament in 2012, and that night the fight was won by “The Bastard”. Romero is coming into this on a downward slide, having lost six singles matches in 2024, but he's got the skill to bounce back with any given match. Problem is, he has to deal with a PAC whose fueled by rage and driven by a desire to hurt anyone in his path to The Bang Bang Gang. Will Romero end up an example for Jay White and The Gunns, or can Rocky pull himself out of this slump and become the best version of himself here in All Elite Wrestling?

THE HORNS...

“El Toro Blanco” RUSH vs. Isiah Kassidy

In the vein of fighting to be the best version of yourself, Isiah Kassidy has been struggling to become that ever since the High Flying 4/20 Four Way, a desire further enhanced by the night he danced with Samoa Joe. That fight with Joe may have only last three minutes and thirty seconds, but it ignited something in Zay that makes him want to be better. He showed that in his fight with Orange Cassidy last week, and this week he will have the opportunity to do it again albeit under some very different circumstances.

This time the fight is not against someone like OC who came to the ring for the love of competition, this time it's against a man who comes to the ring for the love of hurting his opponents. A 2-Time former ROH World Champion, “El Toro Blanco” RUSH has been back in action for less than a month, but he's already left quite an impression on the skulls and chests of the individuals he's faced. There's no doubt he aims to do the same to Isiah Kassidy this Friday evening on RAMPAGE, but if the fire Zay demonstarted in his match with Cassidy is any indication of where his head is at, RUSH is in store for a fight he's may not expect!

RETURN OF THE CHAMP...

Speaking of Samoa Joe, we have not seen the former AEW World Champion in action since that match with Isiah Kassidy, though we did hear him share some thoughts with HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata last week. This Friday night on RAMPAGE, Joe will be back in action and perhaps some prayers need be said for whatever individual steps into the ring with him just two days prior to DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2024!

RAMPAGE returns to Friday this week on TNT, just two days before DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2024, and we will see Anna Jay team up with the debuting Alex Windsor to face TBS Champion Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander, plus Samoa Joe returns to competition as “The Bastard” PAC battles Rocky “Azucar” Romero, Samoa Joe, and RUSH meets Isiah Kassidy in singles competition!

The night starts early, 6:00pm ET/5:00pm CT, and will be immediately followed by the COUNTDOWN TO DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2024 special, so get ready by dropping in on AEW's official YouTube channel, as well as our assorted social media platforms, for highlights from previous episodes of DYNAMITE, RAMPAGE, and COLLISION, as well as the latest edition of the CONTROL CENTER!

Then join us in Las Vegas for the last stop on the road to DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2024; AEW presents an all-new COLLISION coming to you live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena only twenty-four hours before the pay-per-view action begins, and featuring The Lucha Brothers versus The Gunns!
