The Wild Card of Fyter Fest: Laredo Kid Makes His Debut in Daytona Beach

For several weeks now, since it was first announced that The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega would unite for Trios action at Fyter Fest on June 29th, wrestling fans have sat in antici..........pation to find out who would share the ring with The Lucha Bros as the opponents.

On June 17th, as part of Episode 157 of “Being The Elite” (Watch Here), we found out the answer: current AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Laredo Kid! But as you'll also see in that clip, the announcement came on the heels of Pentagon Jr and Rey Fenix reclaiming the AAA World Tag Team Titles from Matt & Nick Jackson at “Verano De Escandalo 2019”. From the highest of highs for The Young Bucks at “Double or Nothing” where they retained the championship, to the lowest of lows as they boarded the planes back to the United States without the title belts...and knowing they had to step inside the ring with The Lucha Bros once more in just 12 days.

But in this Fyter Fest encounter, there will be that added element, the aforementioned 3rd man on each team; Kenny Omega on one side, Laredo Kid on the other. Omega is a well known commodity to fans, to his partners, and, on the other side, to Pentagon Jr, but Laredo Kid, he is a true wildcard.

The AAA CW Champ has been both partner and opponent to The Lucha Bros in the past, he has even been in the ring with other AEW roster members like Sammy Guevara (who he defeated for that AAA title), Joey Janela, Jack Evans, and Angelico, but as for The Elite trio: not a single encounter, not under any circumstances, and not in any promotion. So who is this man that Penta & Fenix have chosen to have their back?

At just 32 years old, Laredo Kid is a 16 year veteran of the squared circle who, in addition to the AAA Cruiserweight Title, also currently reigns as the AAA World Trios Champion with El Hijo De Vikingo and Myzteziz Jr. Starting his career in 2003 under the moniker Exterminador, he has competed as Laredo Kid since entering AAA in 2005, traveled into the United States for various promotions over the years, including PWG & AIW, and held numerous championships outside of AAA as well. Laredo Kid has even walked away the victor in multiple “Mascara contra Cabellero” (Mask vs. Hair) bouts in his career!

Suffice it to say Laredo Kid comes into Fyter Fest on June 29th with plenty of experience, and plenty of successes, on the path behind him. As for the path before him, well the very first steps have Laredo Kid collide with three of the best talent in the world in Omega & The Bucks, but also three men coming off some potentially devastating losses. As mentioned before, Matt & Nick Jackson lost the AAA Tag Titles to the Lucha Bros on 6/16, while the entire wrestling world witnessed Kenny Omega first fall victim to The Judas Effect of Chris Jericho, and then be laid out & tossed aside by the debuting Jon Moxley at “Double or Nothing”.

Three men from the AAA contingent who are riding high with championship gold around their waists, three men who come into Daytona Beach fueled by their recent setbacks in The Elite trio; it is a collision that all comes to a head at Fyter Fest, live ABSOLUTELY FREE on B/R Live (Watch Here), or you can still get select tickets right here - (Link To Tickets)!
