Biography:

“Rated R Superstar” Cope shocked the world in October 2023 when making a surprise appearance to cap the first AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view event in Seattle.

An 11-time world champion & 12-time world tag team champion, it didn’t take Cope long to capture AEW gold in just his fifth match when defeating long-time rival (and former best friend) Christian Cage to win the TNT Championship at Worlds End in December 2023. While losing the title back that same night following an attack by Christian’s Patriarchy, Cope recaptured it three months later when forcing Cage to surrender under the threat of being hit with a spiked board in a brutal “I Quit” match on Dynamite.

Cope’s second title reign didn’t end with a loss. He was forced to relinquish the championship after fracturing his leg jumping off the top of a steel cage. Embodying his toughness, Cope still finished and won the match. Having already overcome neck issues that kept him out of the ring for eight-plus years, Cope returned in January 2025 better than ever on Dynamite: Fight For the Fallen, helping to spearhead Hurricane Helene relief in his adopted home of Asheville, N.C.

Entering the ring to the iconic Alter Bridge hit “Metalingus,” Cope brings an unmatched aura built over 32 years of in-ring competition. The Toronto native also has forged a successful acting career in films such as Highlander: Endgame and Money Plane as well as shows including Syfy’s Haven, The History Channel’s Vikings and the upcoming Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. When not in the ring or spending time with his family, Cope is an avid hockey fan with affinity for both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New Jersey Devils.
