AEW Collision Preview for July 22, 2023

The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament concluded last week with Willow Nightingale and Ricky Starks winning their respective tournaments, plus FTR and BULLET CLUB GOLD engaging in an absolute classic 2/3 Falls Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship! This Saturday All Elite Wrestling returns to Newark, NJ and the Prudential Center and brings COLLISION for the very first time! The AEW World Trios Championship will be on the line between The House of Black and The Acclaimed, Skye Blue will go head-to-head with Taya Valkyrie, and looking to bounce back from their heartbreaking loss last week, BULLET CLUB GOLD will take on Action Andretti and Darius Martin in tag team competition!

COLLISION begins at 8:00pm ET/7:00pm CT this Saturday on TNT, as well as at for AEW's international fans, so be sure to drop by the official AEW YouTube channel prior to Saturday night to catch highlights from this week's episodes of DYNAMITE and RAMPAGE, as well as the latest edition of THE CONTROL CENTER, and more!

House of Black (Brody King, Buddy Matthews, & Malakai Black)(c)

The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens, Daddy Ass, & Max Caster)

Coming off their victory last night on RAMPAGE over QTV, The Acclaimed are primed for another bout of Trios action, this time with the biggest prize in the division at stake, as well as a chance to redeem themselves for the loss at DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2023 two months ago.

Though they are such a dominating presence, a terrifying presence to be even more precise, The House of Black has been focused on Andrade El Idolo as of late, not as much on their Trios Championship. Brody and Malakai did have a very dominating tag team victory last week on COLLISION, but The Acclaimed have been on the hunt to get another shot at the titles, and as such have won four straight Trios matches after their fight with QTV on RAMPAGE.

So with that in mind, The Acclaimed and House of Black are heading for a collision on COLLISION this Saturday night! Can Bowens, Caster, and Daddy Ass finally step up to that next level and become the figureheads of this Trios division, or will they become a 2-time victim of The House of Black?

Skye Blue vs. Taya Valkyrie

With Taya Valkyrie coming off a loss to AEW Women's World Champion Toni Storm on BATTLE OF THE BELTS VII, she is looking for someone to take her frustration out on. Coincidentally there's another women in AEW, one who used to look up to Taya as an inspiration, who has a desire to correct the attitude she's seen emerge in Valkyrie as of late, and that's Skye Blue.

So with that on the table, this Saturday night on COLLISION, Taya Valkyrie and Skye Blue will go one-on-one for the very first time! Blue has been stepping up her game each and every week, including pinning Nyla Rose, beating Anna Jay A.S. in the Owen Hart Quarter-Finals, and coming oh so close to beating Ruby Soho in the Semi-Finals. Now she's got a shot at beating one of her heroes this Saturday night, and we all know how the saying goes about never meeting them.

This is an important bout for both women as it could help determine the path of their careers moving forward. A win could help each rebuild their path towards a championship challenge, a loss could send them spiraling back down to the bottom rung of the ladder.

BULLET CLUB GOLD (Jay White & Juice Robinson) vs. Action Andretti & Darius Martin

Last week on COLLISION, fans were treated to one of the most amazing tag team bouts ever to take place in All Elite Wrestling, and given the history of tag team wrestling in AEW, that's saying quite a lot. Having already set an amazingly high bar for Ring of Honor with their matches against The Briscoes last year, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have done the same with Juice Robinson and Jay White on back-to-back weeks of COLLISION. Between their Eliminator bout and the 2/3 Falls contest last week, these two teams have helped make Saturday night a great night for fighting, but after losing the war last week, BULLET CLUB GOLD are looking to bounce back this week and get back into contention.

That fight begins this Saturday night when, in response to a challenge made by Andretti and Martin, BC GOLD takes on Action Andretti and Darius Martin in tag team action! Action and Darius are coming off a hard-earned victory over The Workhorsemen on ROH's DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2023: ZERO HOUR event, and want to keep that momentum building this Saturday night on COLLISION.

And speaking of that epic AEW World Tag Team Championship match, we expect to hear from the champions who successfully defended their crown in regards to what the future has in store for them, specifically their next title defense set for July 29th in Hartford, CT against AEW World Champion MJF and Adam Cole! The challengers defeated Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara this past Wednesday on DYNAMITE to win the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament, earning themselves a shot at the gold around FTR's waist, bringing Dax and Cash to DYNAMITE to let the tournament victors know they were watching.

What will FTR have to say about this impending match, or about the one they just went through? We will find out this Saturday night when COLLISION comes to TNT once again!

In a result that shocked many last week, Ricky Starks defeated CM Punk to win the 2023 Owen Hart Foundation Men's Tournament. It was certainly a shock to Punk, he absolutely did not expect to get outmaneuvered by Ricky, nor for “Absolute” to use some rope leverage to garner his victory, but that is exactly what happened. Jushin Liger probably didn't expect Starks to grab the trophy the way he did either, but that is also what happened following the victory.

This week on COLLISION, we anticipate there being some fallout from this particular tournament final, and hearing from both men about how it went down. What will Punk and Starks have to say? Tune into COLLISION on Saturday night to find out!

AEW returns to Newark, NJ and the Prudential Center and with it comes COLLISION for the very first time! We anticipate some fallout from The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Finals between CM Punk and Ricky Starks, and we expect to hear from FTR after their epic clash with BULLET CLUB GOLD in that Two out of Three Falls contest!! And speaking of Juice and Jay, they will be in action against Andretti & Martin, Skye takes on Taya, and the AEW World Trios Titles are at stake in a rematch between The House of Black and The Acclaimed!

The night begins at 8:00pm ET/7:00pm CT, as well as at for AEW's international fans, so make a point to drop by the official AEW YouTube channel for highlights from this week's episodes of DYNAMITE and RAMAPGE, as well as the latest edition of CONTROL CENTER, and so much more!
