With AEW Forbidden Door coming up in less than 24 hours, AEW was back in the OVO Arena in Glasgow, Scotland for AEW Collision.
It’s a huge weekend for the Don Callis Family, and that includes the 2025 G1 Climax winner, Konosuke Takeshita, who renewed his rivalry with Tomohiro Ishii in a hard-hitting affair. Callis also had his crew in eight-man tag action against Hiromu Takahashi and SkyFlight. Paragon and the Young Bucks faced off in the tag team ranks after coming to blows on AEW Dynamite, but the night ended with Kazuchika Okada taking out Swerve Strickland. Megan Bayne took on Scotland’s Isla Dawn in her AEW debut, but Bayne also got involved in the aftermath of the tag match that saw Willow Nightingale and Queen Aminata team up to face the Triangle of Madness. Max Caster held his first ever international open challenge, which opened the door a day early for Zack Sabre Jr. and Nigel McGuinness.
Here’s everything that went down on the last stop before Forbidden Door on AEW Collision for August 23, 2025, including your full results and match recaps.
AEW Collision Recap Tonight for Glasgow
Hiromu Takahashi & SkyFlight (Scorpio Sky, Dante Martin and Dariun Martin) def. Don Callis Family (Lance Archer, Josh Alexander, Hechicero and Rocky Romero)
Hiromu Takahashi got things going with a hot start against one of his trainers, Rocky Romero.
Then, Top Flight came in with their unique high-flying offense on Hechicero, but that was shut down by a Lance Archer chokeslam on the apron. Josh Alexander showed how precise and strong he was by picking apart Dante Martin.
A small burst of offense wasn’t initially enough for Scorpio Sky to get his team back in it, but
Hiromu finally tags back and SkyFlight hit a triple dive! Hiromu hits the Timebomb for win!
TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher appeared on the stage to stare down his Forbidden Door opponent, Takahashi.
A Hook Update?
The interpretation of what we saw with two Hook action figures fighting each other on top of a framed FTW Title is up to you the fan, but hopefully it means “The Cold-Hearted, Handsome Devil” will be back soon.
TBS Championship 4-Way Preview
Renee Paquette narrated an in-depth look at each of the participants in the TBS Championship 4-Way at Forbidden Door. “The C.E.O.” Mercedes Moné will certainly have her hands full with Alex Windsor, representing AEW, Persephone, representing CMLL, and Bozilla, representing Stardom.
Megan Bayne def. Isla Dawn
This was Isla Dawn’s AEW debut and she’s from right here in Scotland. On the other side, Megan Bayne has a 9-0 Collision singles record.
Bayne didn’t seem to care about Dawn’s home field advantage. Dawn had an early flurry, but was cut off by Bayne’s power including massive chops. Bayne openly trash-talked Dawn but Dawn fought back again. And then Bayne seemed to have enough and mercifully put Dawn down for the win with her signature running power bomb.
Before Bayne and Penelope Ford made their exit, Willow Nightingale came out and passed them on the ramp…
Willow Nightingale & Queen Aminata def. Triangle of Madness’ Skye Blue & Julia Hart
No Thekla with Triangle of Madness? Doesn’t that seem peculiar?
At the start, Skye Blue had no answers for Willow's power. Was that a couple poses of intimidation from Willow? Julia Hart tagged in, and immediately suffered a similar fate to Blue. Queen Aminata found her way into the match but Julia turned it around and walked the top rope with the arm ringer.
Aminata fought back and tried to serve up Chocolate Kisses but Blue broke it up to change the complexion of the match. Willow tagged in once again and fiought off both with a POUNCE to Sky and a spinebuster to Hart for a two count.
Queen Aminata gets back in the match with Blue. She hit a high angle Air Raid Crash, but Blue kicked out! After Hart and Blue tried double submissions, Aminata and Willow were able to break free. Aminata hit Off with Her Head for the impressive win!
The thought-to-be absent Thekla hit the ring to attack, but Willow made the save for Aminata, and Thekla and Aminata pair off. And much like in recent weeks, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford barged their way in.
But wait, it’s Harley Cameron! And she’s charged right to the ring. She takes out Ford on the way down and goes right after Bayne! Ford takes out Cameron from behind, allowing Bayne to chuck Harley with an overhead bearhug throw.
Kris Statlander ran in! And she goes right after Bayne, sending her to the outside, returning the favor from last week to Cameron!
Daniel Garcia, Daddy Magic Address Nigel McGuinness
Lexy Nair is backstage with Daniel Garcia and Daddy Magic and asks Garcia if he had mixed emotions after losing his chance at ZSJ.
Garcia said he doesn’t have mixed emotions. The match with Zack Sabre Jr. would have been a dream come true. Garcia admitted Nigel showed he’s a better wrestler, but when Nigel asked for Danny to be in his corner, Garcia realized sometimes it’s not about being the better wrestler, it’s about being a better friend. He asked Nigel to make a promise that he’ll win the title and be the better wrestler.
“We expect nothing less.”
IWGP Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. def. Max Caster — First Ever International Max Caster Open Challenge
Before Caster could say a word, Glasgow was already chanting “Let’s Go Max! You’re the best wrestler alive!”
Caster talked about the respect he got from Shibata last week and thought the crowd would give him the same respect. And with that he started the chant again and the OVO Hydro gladly chanted along with him!
Sadly, Caster shut them down because he couldn’t understand the accent. That elicited some boos from the previously pro-Caster crowd.
With five minutes on the clock it was time to find out who could survive five with the Best Wrestler Alive™…
The Forbidden Door opened a day early when IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. answered the challenge!
This was a surprise to Nigel McGuiness on commentary, as he now had a literal front row seat to watch his Forbidden Door opponent.
Caster may call himself The Best Wrestler Alive™, but he was in there with one of the greatest technicians wrestling has ever seen. As Sabre Jr. continued to toy with Caster, he made a point to talk a little trash to McGuinness, which got polite applause from the commentary desk.
As the time dropped under three minutes, it looked like ZSJ was done playing with his food, and he quickly tapped out Caster for the win. Sabre Jr. then confronted McGuinness at the desk, and while the two shook hands, it was far from friendly as they traded tense words.
What’s Going On With Anthony Bowens?
With Caster still down, Anthony Bowens ran out to attack him! A relentless Bowens continued the beat down until Billy Gunn came out to get in Bowens’ face. Their relationship seemed shakier than ever, but perhaps Bowens is finally showing his true colors.
Kris Statlander & Harley Cameron Look for the $100K
After showing some appreciation for having her back last week, Harley Cameron asked Kris Statlander about the status of the $100K she recently won, but Statlander said the Young Bucks still owe her, as she was getting insufficient funds messages. Cameron entered the Male Extras locker room to confront Matt and Nick Jackson, yet quickly returned to say Statlander won’t be getting the money til next week.
Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and Marina Shafir showed up with Moxley heading back into the locker room. As Yuta tried to make awkward small talk, Claudio Castagnoli and Gabe Kidd appeared, looking somewhat perturbed with Yuta, but the tension was cut when Moxley emerged with a well-padded envelope he handed to Statlander. Mox got the money.
Konosuke Takeshita def. Tomohiro Ishii
“The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita lived up to his name by winning the grueling 2025 G1 Climax in NJPW to earn himself a future match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. However, Don Callis had him back in action days later against “The Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii.
These two had only met in singles action one previous time, back at Wrestle Dynasty in the Tokyo Dome in January when Takeshita defeated Ishii. While they’ve been on opposite sides of some multi-man matches over the last few months, this one-on-one gave us every bit of the slugfest you’d want from these two.
As Ishii and Takeshita rained down blows on each other, Don Callis earned a less-than-stellar reception from Glasgow as he joined the commentary booth. Ishii was able to fight off an early onslaught from the bigger, stronger Takeshita.
Takeshita seemed to turn the tide in a big way when he hit an elevated DDT from Ishii’s position on the apron to the floor!
As we’ve seen so many times before, Ishii’s fighting spirit wouldn’t allow him to stay down, and he once again fought himself back into the match and actually into control. He hit an avalanche suplex from the top and barked out in terror!
And now it was Takeshita digging deeper, perhaps calling upon the resolve he used throughout the G1, putting on a power display that made Don Callis yell like he didn’t even need a headset.
Takeshita squared up Ishii in the corner with a huge knee, yet Ishii somehow pushed right through what must have been immense pain to hit a powerbomb!
WHAT A MATCH!
Every strike was either blocked or fought through by both men as their knowledge of each other’s repertoire was on full display. Exhaustion wasn’t a thought for either man by this point.
Ishii hit a desperation headbutt to Takeshita, who bounced off the ropes with a big knee to an already down Ishii.
Finally, Takeshita let out a primal scream and finished Ishii off with the Raging Fire. The Glasgow crowd continued to applaud long after the unreal match was completed.
Big Bill def. Mark Andrews
A very angry and determined Big Bill made his way to the ring with a purpose, accompanied by Bryan Keith. As the bell rang, Bill squashed Andrews in the corner, as the OVO Arena came unglued! Big Bill is even Bigger in Glasgow!
As Bill bounced Andrews in and out of the ring, he began to take a bit more notice of the crowd, leaving Andrews a tiny opening to get back in it. And then he was out of it, as Big Bill hit every bit of a sidewalk slam to get the win.
That wasn’t enough, as Keith brought chairs in the ring, allowing Bill, with plenty of approval from the crowd, to hit a huge chokeslam to Andrews through the sitting steel.
Bill and Keith exited through the crowd to huge cheers, as GOA made their way to the ring…
GOA (Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun) def. Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake and Zack Gibson)
While the Grizzled Young Veterans were certainly familiar with Glasgow, it really doesn’t matter where you are when you have to stand across from Toa Lions and Bishop Kaun.
Drake tried a few different ways to knock Lions off his feet with little success. Technique was not beating out power with GOA in full control. A little flurry of tandem offense by the Vets didn’t last long, as Kaun took the advantage right back and had time to even pose for the crowd.
With Drake on the outside, Liona sent him flying multiple rows into the crowd with a huge clothesline. GOA and Ricochet took the time to enjoy their success on the apron.
Drake was nearly counted out, but somehow got a tag to Gibson and the tide turned significantly when Kaun was held down by Gibson in the corner while Drake went coast-to-coast with a kick to the head!
Kaun then escaped an electric chair, which allowed Liona to pounce Drake over the top rope. With Gibson all alone, he succumbed to Open the Gates, with GOA picking up the win.
The War Dogs Call Out The Opps
Gabe Kidd, backed by Robbie X, Clark Connors, and Drilla Moloney of The War Dogs, explained his motivations for siding with the Death Riders. Then, Connors, X, and Moloney challenged The Opps for the AEW World Trios Titles!
Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) def. Paragon (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong)
“And their opponents, already in the ring, Rod and Todd!”
Arkady Aura made that announcement for the Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson. Close enough!
Despite their misfortunes and distractions, the Bucks always bring it against Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly. However, they had real trouble getting out of the gates with O’Reilly and Strong controlling early with their precise kicks and strikes.
The Bucks weren’t down for long, but they still struggled to find any consistent offense, In fact, they nearly took each other out multiple times.
A couple of superkicks got the Bucks back in it, as they finally got their offense going with an assisted swanton followed by a jumping piledriver to O’Reilly on the outside.
Strong found himself without a partner, as the Bucks methodically wore him down until O’Reilly finally got back to the corner. With Strong avoiding More Bang for Your Buck, O’Reilly tagged back in and singled-handedly took on both Matt and Nick.
Eventually all four men battled it out in the ring, but the Bucks recovered quicker and started to find a second gear, but everything they tried wasn’t enough.
Strong wound up hitting Nick with an End of Heartache, but with Matt locked in an ankle lock, Don Callis ran down for the distraction while Kazuchika Okada came in to hit a Rainmaker on O’Reilly while the Bucks took out Roddy. A yet-to-be-renamed flipping piledriver got the Bucks a win.
Okada and the Bucks continued to beat on Paragon until Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana hit the scene.
Initially, Okada bailed, so Swerve dealt with the Bucks in the ring, but the Unified Champion returned and the three-on-one attack was on with Okada hitting Swerve with a Rainmaker to end our night in Glasgow!
