AEW Collision Results

It was another great night in Orlando for AEW Collision on TNT and streaming on HBO Max!

Everyone is looking for gold these days, and tonight was no different! In the main event, Claudio Castagnoli defeated Roderick Strong to retain the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship in a hotly contested affair. TBS Champion Willow Nightingale turned back a former TBS Champion, Julia Hart, in a rematch of Nightingale’s first TBS Title victory almost two years ago! And AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander beat Isla Dawn in an Eliminator Match, looking totally ready to defend the AEW Women’s World Title against Thekla on this week’s upcoming Dynamite!

Plus, one-third of the AEW World Trios Champions, “Hangman” Adam Page, defeated Katsuyori Shibata of The Opps in singles action as he continues his hopeful march back to the AEW World Championship. And  the Don Callis Family handled all their business in impressive fashion as Protshita – “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher & “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita – took care of Billy and Austin Gunn (which brought out the returning AEW International Champion, “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada), Andrade El Ídolo was dominant once again in a win over Magnus, and Mark Davis and Jake Doyle made it clear they are ready for FTR after coming away victorious against Alec Price and Jordan Oliver!

Check out everything that went down on Collision, as we closed out the week in Orlando! Here are your complete results.

AEW Collision Recap Tonight for Orlando

AEW World Trios Champion “Hangman” Adam Page def. Katsuyori Shibata of The Opps

The legendary Paul Wight returned to the broadcast booth to join Excalibur and Tony Schiavone for Collision!

Page and Shibata wasted no time coming to blows at the bell! Page tossed Shibata to the outside and bounced him off the guardrail and the announce desk before throwing him back in the ring. As Page got back on the apron, Shibata knocked him back to the floor with a running boot. Shibata chased after Page, sending him back and forth between the guardrails until he missed a running boot with Page sitting near the timekeeper’s table. Page came back with a boot of his own to send Shibata onto the table. From there, Page decided to take Shibata into the crowd, as the action was getting further from the ring! Page eventually brought Shibata back into the ringside area and nailed him with a boot to the face!

Page threw Shibata back in the ring and followed with a fallaway slam. Shibata stopped a charge in the corner with a boot to Page’s face. Page sent Shibata to the apron and tried a springboard clothesline, but Shibata cut him off and hit a suplex on the apron and hung on for another on the floor! Shibata brought Page back in the ring and locked in a figure four until Page got to the ropes, although damage was clearly done.

Shibata punished Page with kicks to the chest until Page caught one and fought his way back to his feet. The two traded strikes and then chased each other to each corner with strikes before exchanging suplexes, which left both men down on the mat. They fought back to their feet, and Shibata grabbed a waistlock. He feigned sending Page into the corner, so the referee ducked out of the way, which caused him to miss Shibata’s low blow to Page! Page rolled through a submission attempt and got a near-fall! Page and Shibata battled on the apron until Page crushed Shibata with a Deadeye on the apron! As Shibata stumbled to his feet, Page came off the top with a moonsault!

Page threw Shibata back in the ring and lined up a Buckshot Lariat, but Shibata had it scouted and reversed Page’s momentum into a leg trip, which he quickly transitioned into a headlock vice. Page broke the hold by getting to the ropes. Shibata lined up Page for a basement dropkick in the corner, so Page pulled himself up to the top turnbuckle to avoid it. He flipped off the top for a modified Buckshot, but Shibata ducked, so Page came back with another lariat to put him down! Page quickly got in position on the apron as the crowd came to their feet. As Shibata stumped to his feet, Page floored him with a Buckshot Lariat to get the pinfall!

On the Links with Don Callis and AEW National Champion Ricochet

Earlier this week, Don Callis and Ricochet found a way to squeeze in some January golf before Dynamite, joined by Mark Davis and Jake Doyle, who appeared to have a problem with the caddies. Alex Marvez tracked down Callis and Ricochet at the course and asked them how they had time for a round of golf. A dumbfounded Callis questioned Marvez’s golf etiquette and said he was lucky they weren’t playing in their normal foursome with Tony Khan and Roger Goodell, or he’d be without a job.

Ricochet said they needed to enjoy the spoils of their labor, so they started golfing every week. While this conversation was happening, Davis and Doyle beat up one of the caddies and left him choked out on the green. Ricochet said GOA has been wrestling in front of sold-out crowds in Mexico, and he wouldn’t be surprised to see them earn a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships after Davis and Doyle beat FTR for the titles. Callis said, "Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, young blood." He and Ricochet took their putters and went to the green to deal with the human obstacle in the way of their balls.

AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Match: Kris Statlander (c) def. Isla Dawn

Dawn was accompanied by Grizzled Young Veterans, Zack Gibson and James Drake. At the bell, Statlander backed Dawn into the corner and hammered her before backing away for a charge. Dawn got a boot up to stop Statlander and tried for a dropkick, but Statlander caught it and slingshotted Dawn into the top turnbuckle! Dawn avoided a Statlander charge in the corner and lifted her over the top onto the apron. She cracked Statlander with a forearm and a kick to the head to send her to the floor. Dawn ran down the apron to kick Statlander in the chest. Back in the ring, Dawn suplexed Statlander and got a two-count. Dawn and Statlander traded strikes and kicks until Dawn nailed a Saito suplex out of nowhere for another near-fall.

The two battled on the top turnbuckle with Statlander knocking Dawn to the mat. Dawn got back to her feet only to be knocked back down by a missile dropkick! Statlander grabbed Dawn for a fisherman’s suplex buster and connected, but Dawn kicked out at two again. Statlander wasted no time grabbing Dawn for a Staturday Night Fever, which was enough to put Dawn down for three.

After Statlander’s victory, Thekla, wearing a Statlander shirt, appeared backstage and said it was a shame that tonight was Statlander’s last win as champion. She took the shirt off, spat on it, and threw it in the trash!

“So long, Stat Daddy. Live long and prosper.”

Thekla altered her hand motion into a middle finger, as Statlander angrily watched from the ring.

“Jungle” Jack Perry is Coming for AEW National Champion Ricochet

As Perry examined his knife somewhere in the back, he said he would be coming for Ricochet and the AEW National Title. However, that’s not what this is about. Ricochet took something more valuable than any piece of gold: a friend. He spoke of Luchasaurus and his battle with illness that he needed to overcome at the brink of death to have a second chance that he might never have again. Ricochet took that from us. So Perry will take his championship and everything he has, and even then, it won’t be enough.

Trios Match: Don Callis Family’s Protoshita (“The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher and “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita) def. Billy & Austin Gunn

Before the match, we learned that with Juice Robinson injured and Ace Austin unable to be at Collision because of travel issues, Austin Gunn needed some help outside the Bang Bang Gang, so he was teaming with his father, Billy, against Protoshita! Austin and Billy are 8-0 as a tag team, but this stood as quite the test.

Austin and Fletcher started things off for their respective sides. Callis compared Fletcher to a young Billy Gunn on commentary. Fletcher outpowered Austin until Austin took him down to the mat with his speed. Austin tagged Billy, so he faced off with Fletcher for a test of strength. Billy backed off with a crotch chop, so Fletcher kicked him and tried for a shoulder tackle but wound up on the mat as Billy stood his ground and posed. Fletcher tagged Takeshita, who worked Billy back to the corner. The two traded punches until Takeshita kicked Billy to the outside. Callis came off commentary to taunt Billy, which allowed Takeshita to attack from behind! Gunn found himself in the wrong corner as Fletcher came in to continue the punishment.

Billy eventually fought back against Fletcher to put him down long enough for a Fame-Asser attempt, but  Fletcher was ready for it and rolled him up for a two-count. Billy rolled through that and hit the Fame-Asser! Fletcher kicked out at two! Austin made a blind tag to Billy, who avoided a Fletcher running boot in the corner. The Gunns hit 3:10 to Yuma on Fletcher, but Takeshita made the save! He knocked Billy from the ring with a stiff forearm, but then Austin was there to fire back. Austin and Fletcher traded reversals until Fletcher put Austin down with a dragon suplex. Fletcher tagged Takeshita, and they hit stereo running boots on Austin in the corner. Billy pulled Fletcher from the ring and threw him into the guardrail while Austin got a nearfall on Takeshita in the ring. Takeshita nailed Austin with a Blue Thunder Bomb, but Billy broke up the pin attempt. Fletcher and Takeshita double-teamed Billy with strikes and sent him to the floor.

Takeshita lined up Austin for the Power Drive knee, but Austin ducked. However, Fletcher was there to hit a flying boot to Austin in the corner. He sent him back to Takeshita, who hit Raging Fire for the three count, as Protoshita came away victorious. Don Callis got in the ring to raise the hands of Fletcher and Takeshita, but they got a surprise when AEW International Champion Kazuchika Okada appeared on the stage! Fletcher and Callis had to hold Takeshita back, as Okada just smiled.

The Demand Respond to “Jungle” Jack Perry

With GOA by his side, AEW National Champion Ricochet apologized to Perry for what happened to his friend. Because The Demand are feeling so sorry, they want to give Perry all the luck he can get – which is why Ricochet went to Tony Khan to say that Perry’s rematch for the AEW National Championship should come in Ricochet’s hometown of Las Vegas in two weeks! He said random luck is all Perry has against a king like Ricochet. He said Perry will be another loser amongst a sea of losers who come to Las Vegas.

Grizzled Young Veterans Want More of Eddie Kingston & Ortiz

Zack Gibson and James Drake weren’t happy about how they lost to Kingston and Ortiz last week on Collision, but they said that if Kingston and Ortiz want to use weapons, they can, too. Kingston answered without a hint of backing down, daring them to make a move.

Tag Match: Mark Davis & Jake Doyle of the Don Callis Family def. Jordan Oliver & Alec Price

Doyle charged to the ring ahead of Davis and ran right through Oliver and Price to jumpstart the match. Price hit a quick flurry to slow Doyle for a second, but Doyle put him right back down by running Price over and posing over his crumpled body. Oliver jumped on Doyle’s back, so Davis grabbed Oliver and threw him with a German suplex. Davis and Doyle fired each other up and threw Oliver and Price out of opposite corners to create a violent teammate collision in midair! On commentary, Wight said he never saw anything like that before!

Davis slammed Price’s head off the commentary desk, while Doyle turned Oliver head over heels with a massive lariat. He tagged Davis back in, who continued the assault on Oliver in the corner, punctuated with a sliding elbow to Oliver’s head. Oliver found just enough daylight to tag Price back in. Price unloaded on Davis with strikes followed by a dropkick and then ran up the ropes to take Davis down with an innovative neckbreaker! Oliver returned to help Price double-team Doyle with kicks to send him to the outside. Oliver followed with a running dropkick through the ropes. Price tried to follow with a dive, but Doyle caught him and launched him into Oliver, who was thrown to the outside by Davis in a sickening smash of heads! Doyle and Davis picked up Oliver and Price for powerslams, but not before running the partners into each other yet again. Davis hit Price with a stump piledriver, as Doyle put Oliver down with a spinning side slam. They pinned both Oliver and Davis at the same time to notch a dominant victory!

Don Callis had more to say after the win and joined Davis and Doyle in the ring. He said he had a vision of destruction and pain. A vision of retiring FTR and of Don Callis owning the AEW World Tag Team Titles. And his vision has come true with Davis and Doyle. Callis tried to say more, but he was interrupted by FTR and Big Stoke backstage. Stoke said Callis is a habitual liar and if he says something, reality is the opposite. So if he says Davis and Doyle are walking out of Dynamite with the AEW World Tag Team Titles, it’s a complete lie. You just need to listen to FTR. They are truth tellers.

“And what’s going to happen next week is what’s been happening for the last year. When that bell rings, Justin Roberts is going to say, ‘And still AEW World Tag Team Champions, FTR!’ Top Guys, out.”

Darby Allin Catches Up with Bam Margera

As he traveled through Florida, Allin showed a clip of PAC throwing him onto the steel steps and asked if that was enough to keep him down. Allin said he knows someone reckless, so he should call him. We then saw Allin skateboarding, only to reveal Bam Magera was with him. Magera expressed concern for Allin, but also laughed at Allin’s pain in recent matches. The two continued to skateboard together, as Allin showed even the brutality of his battles against the Death Riders wouldn’t deter him from living his reckless life.

TBS Championship Match: TBS Champion and AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champion Willow Nightingale (c) def. Julia Hart of Triangle of Madness

Both Nightingale and Hart were out by themselves for this TBS Championship match. Hart shoved Nightingale in the face twice at the bell, so Nightingale powered her down to the mat. Hart tried to shoulder tackle Nightingale but was powered down again. Nightingale nailed a fisherman’s suplex and hung on for the bridging pin, but Hart kicked out. Nightingale unloaded on Hart with nine clotheslines in the corner, although Hart came out of the corner and ducked the tenth. She hit a throat thrust and put Nightingale in an arm wringer to walk the ropes. However, Hart switched things up with a hurricanrana on the way down! Nightingale stopped a charge with a back elbow and put her on the second rope for a dropkick. Skye Blue hit the ring and got on the apron, but the other half of the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions, Harley Cameron, came down and fought Blue to the back.

Back in the ring, Hart avoided a cannonball in the corner and executed a unique neckbreaker on Nightingale from the apron. Hart covered Nightingale to get a two-count. She stayed on Nightingale with strikes, as the crowd tried to will the TBS Champion back into the match. Hart continued her punishment in the corners and tried to put Nightingale down with Sole Food and a big strike to the chest, but Nightingale threw a desperation lariat that connected! Both women struggled to get back to their feet until Nightingale got control and started exerting her dominance. She hit a series of clotheslines on Hart, although Hart bounced back in a big way when she kicked Nightingale off the second rope and down to the floor. Hart went to the floor to keep the pressure on and put another arm wringer on Nightingale to walk the guardrail. Nightingale reversed that into a vertical suplex from the rail to the floor!

Nightingale threw Hart back in the ring and connected with a cannonball in the corner, which got a near-fall. Hart came back to lock Nightingale in a tarantula over the ropes until she was forced to break the hold. Hart hit a spinning DDT for a two-count and locked in an octopus. Nightingale got out of it by slamming Hart into the turnbuckles. However, Hart put Nightingale down with a pair of boots to the chin. Hart went to the top for a moonsault but ate Nightingale’s boots on the way down! Nightingale tried for a Babe with the Powerbomb, only for Hart to reverse it into a hurricanrana for a near-fall! Nightingale grabbed Hart again, and this time, she connected on the Babe with the Powerbomb to earn a successful TBS Championship defense!

The Rascalz are Ready for Cru

Among a pile of snacks, Myron Reed, Desmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz enjoyed their surroundings and wondered why Cru was so angry. Wentz pointed out that there were two of them and three of the Rascalz, so they needed to decide which two of them would face Cru. They tried a three-way rock, paper, scissors, and Reed lost. That meant it would be Xavier and Wentz against Action Andretti and Lio Rush. Reed said he’ll support them, and with that support, they can’t lose.

Alex Windsor Wants to Make History with Jamie Hayter

Alex Windsor was talking to an unseen figure and said they don’t have any history, but they should make some. Neither of them backs down from a fight. Windsor said this person has been here for four years and is a former world champion, but doesn’t she want to win some gold she can bring back home? We learned that she was speaking to former AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter, who responded, “I guess we should get some matching outfits, then.” And the two shook hands.

Andrade El Ídolo of the Don Callis Family def. CMLL Mexican National Tag Team Champion Magnus

Andrade was trying to make it a 3-for-3 night for the Don Callis Family, though he entered alone for this match. Much like last week, there was no finesse from Andrade. He cut off any of Magnus’ offense with brutality, as he showed no interest in letting this become a fast-paced match. Andrade faked going for a figure four and instead just booted Magnus in the face. He picked Magnus up and put him right back down with a chop that was heard throughout Orlando! Andrade picked him up for another kick, but Magnus was able to turn things around with a kick of his own. Magnus took Andrade down with a flying head scissors, but he crashed and burned when he tried to follow with a dive to the outside.

Andrade took his shirt off and paraded around the ringside area. He even stopped for a selfie with a fan and put his number in her phone! Andrade ran Magnus knee-first into the steps and continued posing in the ring! After dominating Magnus and taunting the crowd – including taking his pants off, revealing his trunks underneath – Andrade appeared to give Magnus too much time to recover, which allowed him to get to the top rope. But Andrade quickly tripped Magnus, which put him crotch-first on the top rope. Andrade nailed Three Amigos, yet he felt the need to pull Magnus up before a three-count. He started to undo Magnus’ mask but was admonished by the referee. Magnus avoided a strike and scored a near-fall, which angered Andrade. Magnus hit a low drop kick and another shot to Andrade’s head to send him to the outside. Magnus dove through the ropes with a tope that sent Andrade into the announce desk!

Magnus connected with a senton atomico from the top, but Andrade kicked out at one! Magnus tried to fire up the crowd, although it cost him because Andrade sent him face-first into the second turnbuckle. Andrade hit running knees to Magnus in the corner and covered him, but pulled Magnus up at one! Andrade hit The DM for his second dominant victory in as many weeks.

After the match, we heard from Andrade in the back. He said he has unfinished business and wants the AEW World Title! He said Swerve Strickland is in his way, and Andrade will see him on Wednesday!

CMLL World Heavyweight Title: Claudio Castagnoli (c) with Wheeler Yuta of the Death Riders def. Roderick Strong with Orange Cassidy

As per CMLL Championship tradition, each man had a second in their corner, and Tony Khan stepped in for Salvador Lutteroth to present the CMLL World Heavyweight Title in the ring alongside the participants. AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley was on commentary with Marina Shafir by his side. Moxley enjoyed the championship protocol: “We could get a really good Polaroid out of this. Do they still do Polaroids?”

With everyone else out of the ring, Justin Roberts continued with the ring announcements, but Castagnoli attacked Strong before Roberts could finish! The referee got Castagnoli away from Strong long enough to start the match, and Strong came flying out of the corner at the bell to get some licks back on Castagnoli. They spilled to the outside and traded chops until returning to the ring. Castagnoli rattled off uppercuts until Strong was down on the mat. Strong battled back up with a jumping kick and sent Castagnoli back to the outside. Strong followed up with chops to Castagnoli on the guardrail, but Castagnoli battled back with a hot shot on top of the rail. He threw Strong back in the ring and started to get to work on Strong’s right leg. Castagnoli stayed focused on the limb with a half crab and then uppercutted Strong across the ring.

Strong tried to fight back, but he was cut off again with a strike followed by a bodyslam into the ropes. Castagnoli tried to keep the pressure on, but Strong turned things around with a backbreaker, although his leg was clearly in pain. Castagnoli rolled to the floor, so Strong tried to follow with double boots through the ropes. Castagnoli was ready and moved so that he could drop Strong's knee first on the guardrail!

Castagnoli remained focused on Strong’s injured leg for the next few minutes. Finally, Strong fought out of the corner and was able to knock Castangoli to the outside. This time, he connected with Castagnoli through the ropes, knocking him into the guardrail. Strong dropped Castagnoli back-first onto the guardrail and threw him back in the ring. Strong hit a step-up knee while Castangoli was against the ropes and quickly transitioned that into a front-face slam. That was good for a two-count, so Strong attempted a fireman’s carry slam, but Castagnoli slipped out the back and clipped the bad knee. Castagnoli went back to the half crab until Strong kicked free, but Castagnoli stomped Strong in the chest!

Castagoli tried for the Neutralizer, but Strong turned it into a sunset flip for a near-fall! Castagnoli popped Strong up into an uppercut, which would have been enough to win if not for Strong getting his foot on the ropes. Castagnoli unloaded on Strong with uppercuts in the corner and put the injured knee over the ropes so he could hit a running dropkick. Strong escaped a superplex attempt on the top to crotch Castagnoli. Strong scaled the ropes to hit an avalanche fireman’s carry slam! Castagnoli kicked out at two! Strong tried to lock in the Strong Hold, so Castangoli hammered away at the injured right leg. Strong fought through the pain to lock in the Strong Hold! With Moxley concerned on commentary, Castagnoli finally made it to the ropes to break the submission. Strong jumped at Castagnoli, but he was caught in midair! Castagnoli transitioned into the swing and then back to the half crab. Strong pushed Castagnoli to the outside, but Castagnoli grabbed Strong’s leg and slammed it around the steel post twice. On a third attempt, Strong pulled Castagnoli into the ring post!

While the referee checked on Castagnoli, Yuta slammed Strong’s leg into the post. He raised his arms to celebrate, only to turn right into an Orange Punch from Cassidy! Castagnoli floored Cassidy and returned to the ring on the opposite side of Strong. Castagnoli charged Strong in the corner, but he ate a rising boot from Strong! Strong hit another jumping knee that put Castagnoli back on the floor. Strong followed up to throw Castagnoli back in and dropped his knee pad, looking to end it. However, when Strong jumped, Castagnoli moved the referee out of the way and kicked Strong in the head. He swung Strong by the bad knee and finished him with a Neutralizer to get the pinfall and his third defense of his CMLL World Heavyweight Championship!

That will do it from Orlando!
