AEW Dynamite Results

AEW Dynamite was LIVE from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on TBS and HBO Max! And it was an incredibly epic night!

Things got off to a hot start on Wednesday as we saw the return of Chris Jericho! And things only escalated from there, as the contract signing for the AEW World Championship Match at AEW Dynasty between MJF and Kenny Omega led to a main event featuring MJF taking on “Speedball” Mike Bailey in a Championship Eliminator Match!

Before Omega could leave the ring, he was then in a six-man tag match alongside Brody King and AEW National Champion “Jungle” Jack Perry, taking on The Demand! And that wasn’t the only six-person tag action we saw on Wednesday, as Mina Shirakawa teamed with the Brawling Birds to take down Triangle of Madness.

All that and much more went down on Dynamite in Winnipeg! Here are your complete results!

AEW Dynamite Recap Tonight for Winnipeg

Chris Jericho is Back in All Elite Wrestling!

We kicked off tonight’s Dynamite with Tony Schiavone in the ring, ready to host the contract signing for the AEW World Championship Match between MJF and Kenny Omega for AEW Dynasty on April 12 in Vancouver! As Schiavone started to speak, pyro went off at the entrance ramp. Schiavone apologized for the technical difficulties, only for the pyro to go off again – but this time, bigger and louder.

Moments later, the familiar strains of “Judas” blasted through the Canada Life Centre, as Chris Jericho made his stunning return to AEW! We had last seen Jericho last April, and the fans in Winnipeg were clearly thrilled to see him! They serenaded him through two full choruses of Judas, then kept singing as the music faded. Jericho soaked it all in for a moment, then simply said, “Winnipeg … AEW … I’m home!”

And with that, Judas played again, as Jericho made his way to the back!

Will Ospreay Attacks Jon Moxley Backstage!

The Aerial Assassin was scheduled for a match against the Death Riders’ PAC later tonight, but apparently Ospreay didn’t want to wait! Backstage, he attacked Mox, throwing him into a stack of kegs, then taking out Wheeler Yuta when Yuta tried to pull Ospreay off of Mox! Security was able to peel Ospreay away, as he yelled that he was going to “****ing kill” Moxley.

AEW World Championship Match Contract Signing Between MJF and Kenny Omega

From that chaotic scene, we went back to the ring, where AEW World Champion MJF was set to make his entrance for the contract signing with Omega. The champion confidently walked to the ring, then took a seat in the far chair. Omega was out next, much to the delight of his hometown Winnipeg crowd! If Omega got physical, he would forfeit his title match at Dynasty – but if MJF got violent, he would forfeit the title!

As Omega took his seat, MJF signed on the dotted line, and Omega did likewise, with neither man wasting any time. MJF started to talk trash, but the challenger cut off the champion immediately.

“Shut your mouth. Heck, since we’re in Canada, allow me – fermez la bouche, Max.”

Omega said that he knows what kind of speech MJF has prepared for tonight, even calling out Max’s new hair plugs. But Omega said that this wasn’t going to go the way Max planned. Omega said that MJF would have all the fans believing that AEW’s momentum is all because of him, but Omega isn’t that stupid. He knows that all the people here aren’t here for MJF. They’re here to watch the best wrestle. Omega wasn’t here for an exchange of words. He’s interested in the belt, and nothing else. Omega was on death’s doorstep not long ago, but his friends and family stood alongside him the whole time, because they knew they wanted something better than MJF as world champion. And if Omega can be the antithesis of what MJF is as a wrestler, then maybe Omega can live up to the lofty moniker of “The God of Professional Wrestling.”

MJF took the mic and mockingly applauded Omega, tauntingly asking if this is really Omega at 100%. MJF said that Omega is far from healthy, and that he could sit there and talk about the fact that much like Omega’s “talentless boyfriend,” Kota Ibushi, Omega is one stiff wind away from retirement. But MJF didn’t want to talk about all that. He wanted to talk about what keeps Omega up at night.

At that point, MJF asked if people were wondering why Kenny wanted the belt so badly. MJF said that the reason is that before Omega returned to AEW recently, doctors told him that his diverticulitis is at the point where his “intestines can explode” – any time, any moment, anywhere. Omega’s stomach, his career, hell, his life, is on a fast-winding clock. And Omega might be on a mission to secure his legacy, but the news gets worse. At Dynasty, when the Devil is through with him, all of Omega’s disciples all around the world will have to be ashamed of their God, who they’ll have to admit is nothing other than a false idol who would be better off dead.

That raised Omega’s ire, but “Speedball” Mike Bailey came out to cool Omega down and prevent him from getting physical with Max and losing his AEW World Championship opportunity. Bailey said that everyone got it – MJF was just trying to goad Omega into physicality so MJF didn’t have to fight Omega at Dynasty. But MJF should be thanking Omega, because without Omega, there is no AEW – and without AEW, there is no MJF. Speedball said that MJF needs to respect the fact that Omega is a living legend, and the only place that MJF is a living legend is inside of his mind. So maybe some of that ego and arrogance would go away if Speedball kicked MJF in the head! He wanted a fight right here, tonight!

Omega then said that he had spoken to MJF’s doctors, too. And while Omega is missing about 24 inches of his intestines, he’d rather be missing his intestines than missing his balls, like MJF.

Max balked, asking if Omega thought he wouldn’t fight Speedball? The champ said he’d be happy to fight Speedball tonight, but that he was going to make an example of him. And lastly, Canada is a dump. MJF hails from the greatest country in the world. And tonight, Speedball would be wrestling an American Hero.

It was made official – Speedball vs. MJF in an AEW World Championship Eliminator Match in the main event of Dynasty!

Kenny Omega, AEW National Champion “Jungle” Jack Perry and Brody King def. The Demand (Ricochet, Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona)

As Speedball and Omega were still in the ring following the contract signing, we heard the music of The Demand, as Ricochet, Kaun and Liona made their way down the ramp. Next came Brody King, followed by AEW National Champion “Jungle” Jack Perry!

The bell rang, and Omega and Ricochet faced off from their opposing corners, but Ricochet tagged out to Kaun rather than get into it with Omega. Kaun and Omega exchanged side headlocks, only for Ricochet to knee Omega in the back as Kaun backed him into the ropes. The Demand used that opportunity to beat down Omega and isolate him in The Demand’s corner, before Ricochet tagged in. Omega recovered enough for Ricochet to want to tag back out, but Omega flattened him and tagged in King! King smashed Ricochet with a senton and went for a pin attempt.

GOA came in to break up the pin, which led to all six men brawling in the ring, then spilling to the outside, where Perry took out the opposition with a big-time moonsault! Back in the ring, King looked to suplex Ricochet, but members of each team kept blocking the attempt, until all six men were locked into a triple suplex by Omega & Co.! But The Demand recovered, as GOA Ricochet and Kaun low-bridged Perry in the ring, setting the AEW National Champion up to get steamrolled by Liona as we went to break!

Back from commercial, The Demand continued to dominate Perry, while Omega tried in vain to make himself available for a tag. Despite repeated double-teams and triple-teams, Perry finally fought off the opposition, making a tag to Omega, who came in and cleared house, Cleaner-style, taking out Kaun with the You Can’t Escape for a two-count before Ricochet broke up the pin attempt. Ricochet and Kaun tried to double-team Omega, but he took both out with snap dragon suplexes, then attempted a third on Liona, only for the big man to fight out and take a swipe at King for good measure.

That might have been ill-advised, as King took it upon himself to get involved, stacking up The Demand in the corner for a huge cannonball, then double-teaming Kaun along with Omega. But Kaun was able to send both to the outside before taking out Perry in the ring, as Liona destroyed Omega, King and Perry on the outside in quick succession, before Ricochet hit tope suicidas on all three opponents! Kaun then suplexed Omega and Ricochet came crashing in with a 450 splash for a two-count! But Omega kicked out!

King recovered enough to fend off The Demand and help out Omega, leading to King hitting a dive of his own to the outside on GOA! But Ricochet sneaked back into the ring to crush Omega with a springboard dive, then took out King on the outside! Ricochet went for a 450 splash on Omega, but The God of Pro Wrestling evaded and hit a leaping knee! He went for another, but Ricochet dodged and hit a poisonrana!

On the outside, GOA double-teamed King, sending him into the barricade. But King countered, taking out Liona over the guardrail and through the timekeeper’s table! Ricochet went for the Spirit Gun, but Omega dodged, only for Ricochet to hit a thrust kick and an enzuigiri, followed by Vertigo for another two-count! But Omega kicked out again! Kaun passed the National Championship to Ricochet, but Perry took out Kaun, then ripped the belt away from Ricochet! Omega recovered and hit the V-Trigger and the One-Winged Angel for the win!

TBS Champion Willow Nightingale Issues an Open Challenge for Collision

Backstage, the TBS Champion greeted the city of Winnipeg, and said that with tomorrow night’s very special edition of Collision, she wants to defend the championship. She wants to wrestle the very best, and knowing the AEW roster, she knows her opponent will be one of the very best. So she’ll be looking forward to a fight tomorrow night on Collision!

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are Hunting for FTR

Backstage, Renee Paquette had gotten word that Cope and Cage had arrived, and she was looking to get a word with them. Both were wielding chairs, and when Paquette stopped them, Cope said that tonight’s not the night. He knows that Renee is just doing her job, but they were here to take out FTR – and anyone who gets in their way.

Cage seemed to rear back with the chair, only for Cope to insist that Renee is NOT in their way. Paquette gave Cope a “what the hell?” look, but Cope was at a loss. All he could do was follow Cage deeper into the arena, as we went to commercial.

Back from the break, Cage and Cope had located what they thought was FTR’s locker room, but Dax, Cash and Stoke were nowhere to be found. Instead, the Don Callis Family’s Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero were seated. They told Cage and Cope that FTR weren’t here because they were going to be on Collision TOMORROW, so Cage and Cope responded that they guessed they’d be here for Collision tomorrow, then said that it looks like Trent and Rocky were in their way, so they took them out with the chairs and told them to make sure FTR got the message!

Will Ospreay def. PAC of the Death Riders

“The Bastard” PAC made his entrance first, entering through one of the tunnels and making his way through the crowd, as we heard from Renee Paquette about the mindset of both of the competitors in this match. Ospreay’s music hit next, but as The Aerial Assassin made his way down the ramp, he was ambushed by PAC, who had sneaked around to the side of the entrance ramp! PAC took out Ospreay with a brainbuster on the stage! The doctors came out to check on Ospreay and tried to talk him out of participating in the match. But Ospreay wasn’t about to give up on this fight, so after finding his footing, he crawled into the ring – where PAC was waiting for him! The Bastard put the boots to The Aerial Assassin as we went to break!

Back from commercial, PAC maintained the momentum briefly, before Ospreay seemed to finally shake off the pre-match assault and the damage he had suffered in the early going, turning the tide against PAC. PAC eventually went for a moonsault off the top, but Ospreay caught him and reversed it into a brainbuster before going to the top himself for a 450 splash and a two-count!

Ospreay was clearly still feeling the effects of PAC’s assault, as he grabbed at his neck and left shoulder, while PAC rolled to the outside. Ospreay climbed to the top, only for The Bastard to spring up to the apron and knock Will to the other side, as the two exchanged blows over the turnbuckles. Ospreay gained the upper hand with a shoulder to the gut and went for a sunset-flip powerbomb on the outside, but PAC blocked, leading to a DDT onto the floor on Ospreay by PAC!

Ospreay seemed to be in trouble, as PAC went back into the ring and the ref started to count to 10, but The Aerial Assassin slid into the ring just in time to break the count – only for PAC to immediately lock in The Brutalizer! Ospreay managed to get to the ropes, but the torque on his arms and neck only exacerbated the previous damage, as we went to commercial!

Back from the break, PAC continued to pick at Ospreay, literally keeping his foot on The Aerial Assassin’s neck. But Ospreay’s resolve was too strong, as he rose to his feet, grinned, and started to exchange blows with PAC in the middle of the ring! The two men battled back and forth, with PAC scoring a two-count on a bridging German Suplex, before Ospreay finally got PAC up for a Styles Clash! But because of the damage done to his neck and upper body, he wasn’t able to follow up with a pin attempt in time, and PAC kicked out at two!

Ospreay climbed to the top rope, but PAC tripped him up, then took a moment to catch his breath against the ropes and talked some trash to the fans. PAC then climbed up behind Ospreay and went for a top-rope poisonrana, but Ospreay flipped through – only for PAC to catch him with a hurricanrana for a two-count! Ospreay went for a Tiger Driver, but PAC countered, tossing The Aerial Assassin skyward then landing a huge lariat on Ospreay, then turning him upside down for a Tombstone piledriver. But rather than go for the pin, PAC dragged Ospreay into position, then climbed to the top for the Black Arrow, then put Ospreay into The Brutalizer, as The Aerial Assassin was all but lifeless. PAC had Ospreay locked in the hold for nearly a full minute, but when The Bastard tried to re-position Ospreay to keep him away from the ropes, Ospreay rolled through and pinned PAC for the three-count! Ospreay wins!

PAC was beside himself, as he attacked Ospreay after the match was over – but Ospreay recovered enough to hit a Hidden Blade! But with PAC leveled, Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta of the Death Riders came out to continue the beatdown of Ospreay. They were then joined by Claudio Castagnoli, wielding a chair, as Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir lurked on the outside. Claudio set up Ospreay’s neck in the chair and went to stomp across the back  of it, but Mox stopped him, then grabbed a microphone, saying that Ospreay is OK. Look at the situation Ospreay has found himself in – there are six of them, and one of him. How did Ospreay think this was going to go?

This could have been a real, real bad night for Ospreay, Mox said, but instead, the Continental Champion had some advice for Ospreay: Next time, use your head, or you might lose it. Permanently. This isn’t personal for Mox – and he warned Ospreay not to make it personal.

Mina Shirakawa & Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor) def. Triangle of Madness (AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla, Skye Blue and Julia Hart)

You weren’t dreaming – Triangle of Madness made their entrance first, followed by Shirakawa and the Birds. And while Mina did her usual dance, she was clearly laser-focused on taking out Thekla & Co.

We started with Mina and Thekla in the ring, as the AEW Women’s World Champion mocked Shirakawa multiple times. Blue tagged in for Triangle, and after dodging a kick from Mina, she mocked Shirakawa, as well. But Mina got the last laugh with a slingblade on Blue before tagging in Windsor. Windsor ran the ropes and made a blind tag to Hayter, as the Birds laid in some tandem offense on Blue! Windsor, Shirakawa and Hayter continued the triple-team offense on Blue, but the Sister of Sin got a foot on the rope when Mina went for a pin!

Blue ran both Hayter and Windsor off the apron, then slammed into Shirakawa and turned back to talk trash to the Birds. With the ref distracted, Thekla took the chance to pick at Shirakawa, coming crashing down with both feet across the back of Shirakawa as she was hanging on the apron. The Triangle of Madness were in control as we went to commercial!

Back from the break, all six women were down after a triple suplex by Shirakawa and the Brawling Birds. Thekla and Windsor got to their feet first, exchanging blows, before Mina tagged in and went to work on the AEW Women’s World Champion. Shirakawa went for a figure-four leglock, but Thekla fought it off. Blue came in to attack Shirakawa, but Windsor fought her off, which brought Hart in, and Hayter came in to fight her off! Shirakawa and Thekla headbutted each other, and both women were down!

Shirakawa sent a charging Blue to the outside and made the tag. The Birds took out Hart, but Thekla looked to use the brass knuckles on Windsor! Windsor caught her, though, and disarmed her, allowing Hayter to lay out Hart with Hayterade for the win!

Darby Allin Calls Out MJF, Then Sees God

Allin had a microphone and insisted that production cut his music. He said that he’d told MJF he would keep his foot on the throttle until he won the championship or saw God, and he hadn’t seen God yet. Why are they playing games with the Don Callis Family? It’s because MJF is scared. And he doesn’t care what happens at Dynasty, honestly, as long as someone puts an end to MJF’s bull shit! So why doesn’t MJF come out here right now?

Enter the Don Callis Family, whom Callis said had been paid a lot of money to take care of MJF’s dirty work. But Callis had a message for Allin – if Darby can beat a member of the Family at Dynasty, then MJF will grant Allin a title shot. And the perfect member for Allin to face is … Andrade! MJF also paid for one more thing, Callis said, and that was for the Family to take out Allin!

But Brody King and “Jungle” Jack Perry weren’t going to just sit back and let that happen! They cleared the Family from the ring, as Kenny Omega’s music hit once more! The God of Pro Wrestling made his way down the ramp and exchanged a few words with Allin before making his way to the announce desk to be on commentary for the main event!

AEW World Championship Eliminator Match: MJF (c) def. AEW World Trios Champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey

AEW World Champion MJF was out first for this one – and when he said Speedball would be facing an American Hero tonight, he meant it! MJF’s entrance was America-fied, with his burberry accoutrements decked out in red, white and blue. And as if that weren’t enough, when MJF made his way to the middle of the ring, he put his hand over his heart as a giant MJF-themed American flag unfurled from the ceiling behind him!

Speedball was out next, with a Canadian flag draped over his shoulders and accompanied by his JetSpeed tag team partner, “The Jet” Kevin Knight! Speedball’s gear was Canadian-themed as well. But before the bell rang, MJF attacked Speedball from behind!

Referee Bryce Remsburg checked on Bailey, who said that he was good, and the bell rang. MJF charged at Speedball in the corner, but Bailey ducked and hit the champ with a series of forearms. When Bailey went to unleash his kicks on Max in the corner, MJF pulled Remsburg in the way, allowing MJF to gain the upper hand! Max and Speedball went to the outside, where MJF threw Bailey into the ring steps, then tossed him back into the ring, raking at Bailey’s eyes then locking in a headlock.

As the crowd started to get behind Speedball, he fired back at MJF, only for the World Champion to catch Bailey and crush him with an insane powerbomb/backbreaker for a two-count. MJF mocked Speedball with a Crane pose, but Speedball responded with a leg sweep to take down the champ. MJF responded with a thumb to Speedball’s eye, but that only fired up Bailey, as he unleashed a series of kicks on MJF, stunning the champ, then hitting a standing moonsault for a two-count. MJF tried to recover on the apron, but Speedball gave chase with a thrust kick to the chin, followed instantly by a triangle moonsault that wiped out MJF!

Bailey threw the champ back into the ring, then hit a springboard dropkick that sent MJF crashing to the mat. Speedball kept up the offense, climbing to the top and looking for the Ultima Weapon, but MJF rolled outside of the ring. Back in the middle, Speedball caught MJF in a backslide for a two-count, then another, before locking the champ in a straightjacket for another two-count, then another thrust kick on the chin! But MJF recovered just enough to land a couple of kicks himself on MJF, only for Speedball to counter MJF coming off the ropes into a standing Spanish Fly variant for another two-count! The crowd chanted, “This is awesome!”

Both men showed the signs of their intense battle so far, but after a moment, MJF tried to set up Speedball for The Heatseeker. Bailey countered, but MJF caught him for another massive powerbomb for a two-count! Both men were down after that exchange of offense!

Speedball rolled to the apron, as MJF gave chase and looked for The Heatseeker once more. Bailey blocked, but MJF countered Speedball’s reversal and took him out with a baseball slide, sending him crashing to the floor outside the ring. Max taunted the crowd as the ref started to count to 10. Bailey got back on the apron, and MJF went for The Heatseeker again, but Bailey countered, sending Max to the outside then taking him out with a springboard moonsault as we went to break!

Back from commercial, Speedball was perched atop the top rope, looking for Ultima Weapon once again, but MJF dodged, and Bailey got the worst of it. The two men fought on the apron, only for Bailey to fend off a piledriver attempt by MJF, crushing the champion with the flipping double knees! Speedball went for Ultima Weapon once more, and once more, MJF rolled out of the way, but Speedball rolled through. Speedball maintained the advantage, hitting a snap-dragon suplex right out of Omega’s playbook, then hitting MJF right on the chin with a spin kick! Speedball set MJF up for an Ultima Weapon off of the second rope. Bailey went for the pin, but MJF got his foot on the rope!

Speedball lifted MJF up onto the top turnbuckle, but the champ fought him off, falling to the apron. Bailey met him out there and went for the double knees again, but MJF dodged. Max hit Speedball with a Tombstone piledriver on the apron, then hit The Heatseeker for the win, staring Omega dead in the eyes as he got the three count! After a bit of celebration, MJF assaulted Speedball further, but Omega chased him off.
