AEW Dynamite was LIVE from Ontario, California, on TBS and HBO Max! Before we get to Grand Slam Australia on Saturday, there was plenty of championship business to handle tonight!
“The Toxic Spider” Thekla took the AEW Women’s World Championship from Kris Statlander in a strap match that left both participants with visible reminders that may last a lifetime. It was a timely appearance by the Sisters of Sin, Skye Blue and Julia Hart, that gave Thekla the opening to stomp her way to her first AEW gold!
Meanwhile, “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher won the TNT Championship for the second time in an unbelievable match with “Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa and immediately put out a challenge since he’d be returning home to Sydney, which was answered by Mark Briscoe. The two went back and forth with Fletcher agreeing to a seventh and final match in their rivalry. But it had to be a ladder match at Grand Slam Australia!
And after a very tense face-to-face interview that wound up leading to blows, we learned that next week, Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland will go one-on-one when Dynamite comes to Sacramento!
Plus, AEW Continental Championship Jon Moxley and the Death Riders beat the Don Callis Family in a Trios Match, as Moxley and Konosuke Takeshita had a few chances to scrap ahead of their AEW Continental Championship match coming up at Grand Slam Australia.
The Young Bucks came home and became the #1 contenders to FTR’s AEW World Tag Team Championships by outlasting The Rascalz and the returning Private Party in a 3-Way Match! And after the match, Matt and Nick heard enough from Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, so they shut them both up with a pair of superkicks!
Orange Cassidy survived abandonment from his partner, Roderick Strong, to beat Daniel Garcia and Clark Connors, thanks to a surprise appearance by Darby Allin. However, after the match, “Timeless” Toni Storm and Cassidy could only watch as Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir cut Mina Shirakawa’s hair!
All that and much more went down on Dynamite! Here are your complete results!
AEW Dynamite Recap Tonight for Ontario
Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland Come to Blows!
The night began with Tony Schiavone in the ring to introduce Kenny Omega, followed by Swerve Strickland with Prince Nana for their face-to-face interview! Schiavone asked about things breaking down last week and also about going back to Maximum Carnage. Swerve said he had things to get off his chest. Omega was on top of the industry five years ago, when he was the AEW World Champion, and everyone, including Swerve, was scratching and clawing to get into AEW to face Omega. He was a god of pro wrestling. Swerve scratched and clawed and made it to the top to become AEW World Champion. But where was Kenny? Where was “The Best Bout Machine”? While Swerve was becoming the most dangerous man in AEW, Omega was nowhere to be found. Well, he’d pop up here and there like the Tokyo Dome. Swerve even teamed with him in Anarchy in the Arena last year. When Swerve has been at the top, Omega has been laid up in a hospital bed or suspended. Swerve said that sounds like a false prophet to him.
Then the congregation started looking elsewhere, and now everywhere they go, the congregation is saying…”WHOSE HOUSE? SWERVE’S HOUSE!” Now, all of a sudden, Omega comes marching back in, the best he’s ever felt in the last couple of years, to put himself in the title picture. Swerve said that sounds like Omega is using his EVP power. Is that what you’re trying to do, Kenny? Swerve had to deal with EVPs for the last couple of years. A couple of guys who stroked their own ego and abused their power, but Swerve handled that last summer.
“God or not, you use your power to step in front of me? I’m gonna put you down.”
Omega asked if he could talk now. He wanted to correct one detail. Omega never once called himself the “God of Pro Wrestling.” That was a name the fans gave him. While he never asked for their adulation, they gave it to him by supporting him with signs, shirts, cheers, and enjoying themselves, knowing that this place is where the best wrestle, and that if they see a Kenny Omega match, they will get the absolute best!
“And whether you call that the power of a god or not, that’s in the eye of the beholder. But I take their beliefs as a great responsibility, Swerve. So for them to believe in me. For them to believe in me for this one final journey to reach the top of the mountain, to become champion and do it in the right way! Swerve, you may ask the question, “Whose House?’ Yeah, it may be your house, but for you to question me? Maybe the lights are on in that house, but no one’s home. And if you need someone to burn down that house, I’ve got just the friend who’s had experience in it!”
Omega said Swerve is right. A little of the old Kenny is feeling good. He’s showing up, and he’s showing he’s championship material. He doesn’t need EVP influence by getting wins. And if it weren’t for Swerve last week, Omega would have had that chance in Australia. What Omega is asking for now is a fight. He’s seen Swerve show the disrespect. If he wants the match, he’s got it. If it’s about wins and losses, then that’s what we’re gonna do.
“So, Swerve, I’m gonna make it simple: accept or yield?”
“Kenny, you’re just scared. You’re nervous, because our generation? We’re already ahead of you. We’re lapping you. And if you want to go face-to-face with me, once again, the most dangerous man in AEW…”
Omega cut him off and began mocking Swerve. That moniker is supposed to scare everyone, but it’s not Swerve. The most dangerous man in AEW right now is Brody King! That got a huge reaction from the crowd.
Swerve said if you wanna do this, he will put Kenny back in a hospital bed, and this time, he won’t get back out of it.
Omega said that was a heck of an idea and slapped Swerve! Swerve took his jacket off, as Omega removed his watch. Swerve said Omega made his choice, and whatever happens next is on Omega. Swerve turned around and tackled Omega! They fought to the outside, where Swerve took control by throwing Omega into the barricade and then the steps. Omega turned things around by sending Swerve into the crowd. He followed with a chair and cracked Swerve in the back with it. They continued to brawl throughout the arena, using trash cans and anything else at their disposal before returning to the entrance ramp. Omega threw Swerve into a video board and then crushed his head into it with a V-Trigger! As the crowd cheered for Omega, he set Swerve up for a One-Winged Angel at the edge of the stage, but Swerve got out of it by stabbing Omega in the head. Swerve speared Omega off the stage through tables on the floor! Both men were in rough shape and received medical attention.
“The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher Thrives With Pressure
Renee Paquette was backstage with Fletcher and Don Callis, and brought up all the pressure Fletcher is under, but was cut off by Callis, who said they give the pressure. Callis said Fletcher will beat Tommaso Ciampa for the TNT Title tonight and go home to Australia for the welcome he deserves. Fletcher said he thrives off this pressure, and when he beats Ciampa tonight, he’ll get the hero’s welcome he deserves. Fletcher asked Callis if he could do this alone tonight, so Callis happily accepted the night off to watch from commentary. As Fletcher walked off, Callis called him the son he never had.
Trios Match: Death Riders (AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley, CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Claudio Castagnoli and PAC) def. Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Josh Alexander and Mark Davis)
PAC and Davis started for their respective sides, but Davis overpowered PAC twice, bringing Moxley into the match. Moxley worked Davis into the corner and unloaded with strikes and chops, but Davis came back with one massive chop to put Moxley on his knees. Castagnoli tagged in to try his hand, which led to an exchange of chops and uppercuts, with Davis gaining the advantage thanks to a shoulder tackle. Davis went for a suplex, but Castagnoli blocked him and deadlifted Davis into a vertical suplex! What a feat of strength!
Takeshita tagged in and went right to an exchange of strikes with Castagnoli before he was sent into the Death Riders' corner, where he nailed Moxley with a big boot and continued after him on the floor as all six men started brawling! The Don Callis Family seemed to gain the lead during all of this, as Takeshita kept the heat on Moxley before turning his attention back to the legal man, Castagnoli. Back in the ring, Castagnoli caught a charging Takeshita in midair for a backbreaker. PAC tagged in and hit a standing moonsault for a two-count. Alexander was able to tag in, but he struggled to get a hold of PAC until Takeshita grabbed PAC’s leg from the floor to send him face-first to the apron. He sat PAC back up, so Alexander could hit a running crossbody to PAC’s back!
PAC remained in trouble for the next few minutes, as Takeshita continued to wear him down in the ring. Finally, PAC worked his way free, but Alexander cut him off for a brief moment until PAC nailed a suplex. PAC tagged Castagnoli as Alexander tagged Davis. Castagnoli lit up both Davis and Alexander with uppercuts and then followed with alternating uppercuts in each corner. He put the giant swing on Alexander until Davis broke it up with a boot. Davis missed a lariat and walked into a massive powerslam by Castagnoli for a near-fall! Castagnoli took his time setting up Davis for a Neutralizer, so Davis backdropped out, but Castagnoli reversed it into a near-fall. Castagnoli missed a splash in the corner, which allowed Davis to come back with a lariat, only for Castagnoli to block it with a forearm! Davis shook it off and put Castagnoli down with a lariat on the second attempt!
We just learned that Tony Khan has made it official for Dynamite next week in Sacramento, California…it will be KENNY OMEGA vs. SWERVE STRICKLAND ONE-ON-ONE!
Moxley and Takeshita tagged in, and the crowd exploded to see a preview of this Saturday’s AEW Continental Championship match! Moxley and Takeshita met in the middle for a strike battle, but that quickly turned into a seesaw of reversals until Takeshita clocked Moxley with a big forearm, only for Moxley to come back with a lariat to put Takeshita on the mat! Davis stopped Moxley from doing any more damage with a big kick, so PAC answered with one to Davis. Alexander put PAC down with a release German suplex, but was immediately knocked out of the ring by Castagnoli. Takeshita took out Castagnoli and hit Moxley with an exploder suplex for a two-count! Takeshita missed a charge in the corner, so PAC and Castagnoli hit rapid succession strikes until they fed him to Moxley for a cutter. Davis made the save for Takeshita, as the action spilled to the floor. Back in the ring, Takeshita backed Moxley into the corner, which allowed Davis to tag back in. Now, it was the Callis Family triple-teaming Moxley, with each member assaulting Moxley in the corner before all hit German suplexes. Takeshita and Alexander sandwiched Moxley with a rolling elbow before Davis flattened Moxley with a lariat. This time, PAC made the save! The Callis Family got PAC out of the ring and just put the boots to Moxley. Finally, Castangoli intercepted Takeshita with an uppercut and a clothesline to the floor as PAC dove onto Davis! Back in the ring, Moxley caught Alexander with the Death Rider to get the pinfall victory! As the Death Riders celebrated in the ring, Moxley and Takeshita exchanged words.
TNT Championship Match: “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher def “Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa (c) - NEW TNT CHAMPION
Don Callis joined the commentary desk to watch Fletcher, but had Lance Archer watching his back. Before they could touch, Fletcher rolled to the floor and antagonized the crowd, so Ciampa followed him out and invited him back to the ring. Fletcher returned, and the two locked up with Fletcher winning an exchange of shoulder tackles. Fletcher posed, but walked into a shot from Ciampa that put him on the mat. That seemed to wake up Fletcher, as he began to match Ciampa’s intensity behind his strikes with the two exchanging big boots. Once again, Fletcher put Ciampa down, but Ciampa cut Fletcher off with a dropkick to the knee before stomping him to the mat. He nailed Fletcher with a DDT, sending him to the floor. Ciampa slid after Fletcher, but Fletcher moved and connected with a crescent kick to Ciampa’s face, followed by a backdrop to the apron! Fletcher brought Ciampa in with a rib-breaker/backbreaker/ full-Nelson sitout slam combo that got him a two-count.
Fletcher stayed on Ciampa with a chinlock, but Ciampa escaped with a jawbreaker and stayed away from Fletcher’s attacks to hit a clothesline followed by a high boot coming out of the corner. Ciampa took some time to exchange pleasantries with Callis, so Fletcher was able to come back with a kick to the head from the apron. Ciampa knocked Fletcher off the apron to the floor, so Ciampa followed him out and ran him into the barricade, which left Fletcher sitting in a chair. Ciampa blew a pair of kisses to Archer and hit a running hip to Fletcher’s face! Ciampa hopped on the barricade to give himself a pat on the back and then ran Fletcher into the opposite barricade. Ciampa rolled in to break the count, but when he came out, Fletcher cut him off and put Ciampa down with a half-and-half suplex on the floor! That completely switched the momentum of this match.
After Fletcher dominated Ciampa outside of the ring and then back in, it was Ciampa who threw a desperation strike to gain some separation. Fletcher missed a running boot to the corner and flew over the top rope to the floor! Ciampa measured Fletcher for a running knee against the steel steps, but Fletcher moved at the last second, and Ciampa nailed the steel. Fletcher put Ciampa on his shoulder and walked up the steps, but Ciampa escaped and nailed the Psycho Driller on the steps with Fletcher’s back hitting the corner on the way down! That was gnarly!
Fletcher beat the count just in time, but he dove right into a running knee from Ciampa that connected with the side of Fletcher’s head! Fletcher kicked out! The 10-minute warning was announced! Ciampa hit a reverse DDT out of a suplex reversal to get another near-fall. He sat Fletcher on the top turnbuckle and met him up there for an avalanche Psycho Driver, but Fletcher escaped, only for Ciampa to bite him! Fletcher hit a rising kick to the side of the head and came off the top with an avalanche backdrop! Ciampa fired his left shoulder up to kick out in time. Fletcher hulked Ciampa up for a Liger Bomb! Ciampa just barely kicked out. Fletcher hit a running boot to the corner and tried for a brainbuster, which Ciampa was ready for by sliding to the apron. Fletcher tried to follow, but Ciampa connected with a knee that sent Fletcher to the floor.
Ciampa ran down the apron, but he was caught in midair and powerbombed into the apron! Fletcher threw Ciampa back in the ring and nailed another running boot to the corner. Ciampa escaped the brainbuster once again, so Fletcher tried a half-and-half, but Ciampa elbowed out of it. Fletcher pushed Ciampa away into the referee, but the collision was avoided only for Fletcher to follow with another running boot to Ciampa in the corner! Fletcher hit the brainbuster on the third attempt, but somehow Ciampa kicked out!!! Callis was beside himself on commentary! Bryan Danielson called out the lack of pressure Fletcher put on Ciampa’s shoulders.
Fletcher put Ciampa on the top turnbuckle for an avalanche brainbuster, but Ciampa floated over right into a German suplex! He wasted no time connecting with a running knee to the side of Fletcher’s head, and that should do it. FLETCHER KICKED OUT! How did he do that?
Schiavone exclaimed, “Damn it, I love it!”
Ciampa rushed in for another knee, but was met by a crescent kick from Fletcher. Ciampa fought through it and hit another running knee! Fletcher rolled his shoulder up out of what had to be instinct in the nick of time! Five minutes are left in this match!
Both men were exhausted, but Ciampa got up first and slapped Fletcher. Fletcher spat on Ciampa from his knees, so Ciampa laughed it off and lit into Fletcher with strikes. However, Fletcher got back to his feet and launched Ciampa into the turnbuckle like a dart! Fletcher connected with a running boot to the back of Ciampa’s head and neck in the corner. He grabbed Ciampa’s head and yelled, “The title is mine!”
Fletcher backed up for another running boot, but Ciampa met him in the middle of the ring with a running knee! Ciampa hit a brainbuster of his own on Fletcher, but Fletcher kicked out and asked for more! Ciampa tried another running knee, but Fletcher caught him for a Michinoku Driver. Ciampa stumbled back to his feet, and Fletcher put him back down with a lariat! Fletcher hit a brainbuster in the middle of the ring for the three count! Fletcher is ONCE AGAIN the TNT Champion! What a match!
After the match, Renee Paquette got in the ring to ask what was next for Fletcher. He said he’s coming home with the TNT Championship! Despite being banged up, he’ll return to Australia as champion and receive the hero’s welcome he deserved last year! And because he’s the greatest TNT Champion of all time, he will defend in his hometown of Sydney against anybody from anywhere. He doesn’t care because he’s the greatest TNT Champion to ever live!
“REACH FOR THE SKY, BOY!”
Mark Briscoe made his way out and asked if he heard correctly. He said Fletcher has come a long way from being a mop-headed young boy to being a two-time TNT Champion. Briscoe gave Fletcher props and said he deserved it. But Fletcher has a big mouth. They’ve battled six times and split the matches, 3-3. Briscoe said he’s an impatient man, so he’s willing to give Briscoe homefield advantage for Game 7. Fletcher said he’s tired of seeing Briscoe’s face, but he did say he’d fight anybody from anywhere, so he accepts!
“BUT! BUT! BUT! Number seven deserves to be bigger and better than the rest. And I want this to be the final chapter in our story, so whoever wins in Sydney will be the very best. And you say you love to reach for the sky, how about you reach for this TNT Championship? Because if you want Game 7 in Sydney, it’s going to be in a ladder match!”
The Babes of Wrath are Ready to Head Down Under
The Babes of Wrath discussed their loss to Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford, but Willow Nightingale said they’d give them an AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship match at Grand Slam Australia so that Harley Cameron would have homefield. Cameron said this time last year, people thought she was a joke, but this year, thanks to Willow, they are the Babes of Wrath, the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions! She wants to take them out under the sun in front of her friends and family!
Tag Team Match: Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong def. Daniel Garcia & Clark Connors
Jon Moxley joined commentary for this match and wondered aloud what “Timeless” Toni Storm would look like bald. Strong and Connors started things with Connors taking Strong down early until Strong came back with a perfect dropkick. He chopped Connors against the ropes and hit another big strike before losing focus thanks to a Garcia distraction, which allowed Connors to clobber Strong and tag Garcia. Strong quickly took control back with a backbreaker and mounted Garcia in the corner for punches. Cassidy tagged in, so Strong rushed in and chopped Garcia, although Cassidy just got out of the way! Cassidy mounted Garcia for one big punch! Cassidy hit a Stundog Millionaire, but Garcia was able to turn things around with a twisting backdrop suplex.
Cassidy had no answers for Garcia and Connors, as he struggled to get anywhere near Strong for a tag. Garcia put Cassidy in a full nelson, so OC put his hands in his pockets. Connors came charging in, so Cassidy kicked him away and backed Garcia into the same corner. Cassidy escaped and sent Garcia over the top to the floor. Connors charged at Cassidy, so Cassidy tripped him into the ropes! Cassidy got back to his feet and went to tag Strong, but Strong dropped off the apron and backed up the ramp, as Moxley laughed in delight on commentary!
Connors ran through Cassidy with a shoulder block, and Cassidy found himself stuck in the wrong corner. Connors and Garcia executed quick tags and pummeled Cassidy in their corner. Cassidy vaulted over the ropes to get away from Connors, but got locked in a choke by Garcia while on the apron. That left him wide open for a spear from Connors, who threw OC into the ropes and took him to the floor! Connors threw Cassidy into the barricade and charged after, but OC leapfrogged him, which sent Connors crashing into the LED board! Garcia nailed Cassidy with a boot to the mouth and threw him back in the ring. From out of nowhere, Darby Allin pulled Connors over the railing and into the crowd! With Garcia distracted, Cassidy nailed a dive through the ropes! He threw Garcia back in and tried an Orange Punch, but Garcia was ready and caught it. He tried a Dragon Tamer, only for Cassidy to roll him up for the three count! What a comeback by Cassidy after losing Strong! And there is Toni Storm with Luther in the luxury box!
“Children of California, lend me your ears. I am ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm, and I have made peace with my life choices. Marina Shafir, you mixed martial assh*le! At Grand Slam Australia, if you knock me out cold in front of my friends, my family, and my former lovers, then you deserve to shave my head. But I will evolve into the most beautiful bald bastard this world has ever seen. But if I can defeat you, I will shave your head so close to your skull, they will put a price tag on you and sell you at Spirit Halloween!”
She started to address Wheeler Yuta, but he came yelling down the ramp and was soon drowned out by a hostile Ontario crowd. Yuta said, “Bring her out.” And out came Shafir, dragging Mina Shirakawa locked in Mother’s Milk! Back in the ring, Garcia attacked Cassidy to stop him from helping. Yuta grabbed some of Shirakawa’s hair and cut it! Storm was too far away to help! Shirakawa was left lying on the ramp, with Cassidy left lying in the ring!
Andrade El Ídolo and “Hangman” Adam Page Will Fight Down Under
Last week, after Dynamite, Don Callis and Andrade addressed the victory over Kenny Omega, with Callis telling the world that Andrade came back to settle business. He knows Andrade will be the next AEW World Champion, and “Hangman” Adam Page will find out that when you get in the way, you get run over. Andrade thanked Callis and told Page he’s in his way.
Page also spoke after last week’s Dynamite, and admitted he wanted and needed it to be Kenny Omega at Grand Slam Australia because if he’s going to challenge for the AEW World Championship, he needed to know he could beat the man he once beat for it. But he doesn’t get that. He gets one of the very best in Andrade. See you down under.
Jet Set Rodeo Wants All the Gold
Two-thirds of the AEW World Trios Champions, “Speedball” Mike Bailey and “The Jet” Kevin Knight, are still looking for challengers, even as “Hangman” Adam Page has his sights set on the AEW World Title. Knight thinks they could also go after singles titles. Bailey said in 2026, Jet Set Rodeo is coming for all the gold.
AEW World Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders Match: Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) def. The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier and Myron Reed) and Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy)
The Young Bucks got a massive welcome with some home-court advantage, as they were just down the road from their home of Rancho Cucamonga, California. After The Rascalz made their entrance, we found out the wild card team: Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy, former AEW World Tag Team Champions, Private Party!
It was all Private Party to start against Xavier and the debuting Reed! The Young Bucks entered for the first time to face the team that beat them for the AEW World Tag Team Titles. Matt took out Kassidy on the outside with a dive, while Quen got a German suplex combination. Back in the ring, the Bucks put Kassidy down with an assisted facebuster. The Rascalz came back in to double-team Nick Jackson before Reed skied over the top with a dive to Matt on the outside. Quen caught Xavier with a dropkick and then provided Kassidy with a platform to launch his body over the top to Jackson and Reed on the outside. Everyone except for Xavier wound up on the floor, so he went to the top rope and took everyone out with a shooting star press!
Private Party wound up back in control once some order was restored and had Nick trapped for a double-team until Nick ran up the ropes and took both Quen and Kassidy down! Matt tagged in and knocked the Rascalz off the apron. He trapped Kassidy for a pair of Northern Lights suplexes and added Quen for a third. Matt dove through the ropes with a pair of boots for the Rascalz, but turned back into Private Party. Matt escaped the double team by hopping over the top to deliver a stunner on Xavier to the floor! Nick hit a pair of running knees and a bulldog combo to take down Private Party. The Bucks went to opposite turnbuckles with a senton/elbow drop combo on Private Party, but Kassidy kicked out! We saw the new boss of The Opps, HOOK, in a luxury box, taking in the match.
With Kassidy in the ropes, Nick stomped him in the back, but Kassidy adjusted with a head scissors to Matt in midair! Private Party was able to isolate the Bucks again, and with Nick on Quen’s shoulders, Kassidy jumped off his back into a swinging flatliner on Matt! Private Party hit an assisted cutter on Nick, but Xavier was in to break up the pin! Private Party hit an assisted DDT on Xavier, but Reed stopped them from hitting another by dropping Kassidy on his face. Reed ate a superkick from Matt. Quen dropped Matt with a side effect, but immediately ate a superkick from Nick. Nick missed a kick on Kassidy, so he nailed one of his own. Nick was able to come back with another superkick, and all six men were down! There was a brief moment of offense, but all six men were quickly back down.
Xavier and Matt slugged it out in the middle of the ring until Matt was launched into an accidental superkick by Nick. The Bucks hit stereo kicks, and Nick went to the apron, as Matt lifted Xavier, but Kassidy pulled Nick to the floor. Back in the ring, Xavier hit a poisonrana on Matt, as Reed skied over the top with a cutter to the floor on Kassidy that took out Nick and Quen! Xavier hit a Cancun Tornado on Matt, followed by a 450 from Reed, but Nick made the save for his brother on the pin attempt!
Xavier catapulted Matt up for a superkick from Reed, but Nick cut it off with a superkick of his own! Reed avoided a pair of superkicks but came off the ropes and ate a pair on the way down. Xavier suffered the same fate, and when Quen came off the top, he also dropped into a pair of superkicks. The Bucks nailed the BTE Trigger on Quen! They followed with the flipping piledriver on Reed to get the pinfall. The Young Bucks are the #1 contenders to FTR’s AEW World Tag Team Championships!
And here comes Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler and Big Stoke! FTR got in the ring, leaving Stokely in his wheelchair on the floor, and said they came in peace. Harwood recited all the accomplishments of both teams and admitted that, at one time, he was jealous of the Bucks. They tried to respond, so Harwood pulled the mic away. But now the Bucks are sitting comfortably in second place. FTR said they’ve been successful in every company they’ve been in, whereas the Bucks had to create a company to be successful. The Bucks tried to talk again, but the mic was pulled away again. That was enough, so the Bucks took down FTR with superkicks and grabbed the AEW World Tag Team Titles. The Bucks grabbed Stoke’s wheelchair before he could get away and feigned hitting him with superkicks before leaving him with the titles.
Will Ospreay Wonders If Things Will Be the Same When He Returns
As the journey of Will Ospreay’s return to the ring continues, he wondered aloud how things will be when he returns. But he will answer every single question…when he returns.
AEW Women’s World Championship Strap Match: “The Toxic Spider” Thekla def. “The Cosmic Killer” Kris Statlander (c) - NEW AEW WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPION
Before the main event, we took a look at the events that brought us to Brody King challenging MJF for the AEW World Title at Grand Slam Australia!
A leather strap connected the two women, and the first pinfall or submission will determine the winner. At the jump, Statlander’s power was too much for Thekla, as she dragged the challenger all over the ring before Thekla bailed to the floor. Statlander had to follow, so Thekla whipped her in the face with the strap! That pissed Statlander off, so she sent Thekla into the ring post and continued the assault around the ringside area. Statlander sent Thekla to the steps, but Thekla jumped on top and pulled Statlander head-first into the steps. Statlander came up bleeding from the head!
Thekla controlled the champion and began to paint the canvas with her blood! Thekla trapped Statlander over the ropes with a tarantula, but she celebrated too long and wound up choked by Statlander with the strap! Thekla escaped with a rake to the eyes and pulled Statlander into the ropes to knock her down. Thekla went to the top with a crossbody and got a two-count. Danielson praised Thekla’s “strap awareness.”
Thekla dropped into her spider walk, so Statlander pulled her down by the strap and then yanked her into a crescent kick. Statlander punished Thekla in the corner and pulled her into a powerslam for a near-fall. Statlander and Thekla battled on the top turnbuckle, with Thekla getting knocked down only to rise back up and smack Statlander across the face with repeated strap shots! Thekla nailed a spider suplex and pulled herself back up to the top turnbuckle, but Statlander recovered and whipped Thekla in the back and then the chest. Statlander hit a discus lariat for a near-fall! The two fought from their knees back to their feet until Statlander wrapped the strap around Thekla and pulled her back to the mat. Statlander nailed a blue thunder bomb for a two-count!
Statlander whipped herself on the shoulders to fire herself up, but that gave Thekla time to recover and escape Statlander’s grasp. She put Statlander on her knees and wrapped the strap around her neck. Statlander avoided a running kick and tied up Thekla in the strap so she could whip her in the back. Statlander picked up Thekla for Staturday Night Fever and connected! Skye Blue got on the apron to distract the referee as Julia Hart tried to attack Statlander, but she got a strap across the stomach for her troubles! Statlander knocked Blue off the apron, but turned right into a spear from Thekla! Thekla tied Statlander’s hands behind her back and nailed a stomp to get the pinfall! THEKLA IS THE NEW AEW WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPION!
After the match, Triangle of Madness continued to put the boots to Statlander, but she was saved by The Brawling Birds, Jamie Hayer and Alex Windsor! The NEW AEW Women’s World Champion, Thekla, celebrated with Triangle of Madness on the ramp as Dynamite came to a close!
