AEW Dynamite was LIVE from Orlando, Florida on TBS and HBO Max, and you couldn’t ask for a more jam-packed card of the greatest professional wrestling in the world!
Before we got to the action, AEW World Champion MJF graced Orlando with his presence to open Dynamite. However, after boasting about his AEW World Championship defense against ROH World Champion Bandido on last week’s Dynamite, he was interrupted by Bandido’s partner, Brody King.
In the main event, Swerve Strickland survived everything Kevin Knight could throw at him to finally put down the AEW World Trios Champion, as MJF took the entire match in from his skybox. Earlier in the night, MJF was also watching when Kenny Omega took an important step on his journey back to the AEW World Championship and earned a measure of revenge by defeating Josh Alexander of the Don Callis Family!
Meanwhile, Samoa Joe scored a win over another member of the AEW World Trios Champions, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, although he certainly got plenty of help from HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata. And the Death Riders sent a painful message to the Don Callis Family with a victory in a Trios street fight that saw AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia beat Hechicero, Lance Archer and Rocky Romero.
Plus, we learned that Thekla will challenge AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander next week on Dynamite. And Julia Hart will face TBS Champion Willow Nightingale this Saturday on Collision! All that and more went down tonight on Dynamite!
AEW Dynamite Recap Tonight for Orlando
Brody King Wants a Shot at AEW World Champion MJF!
Tony Schiavone introduced AEW World Champion MJF to begin the night, but it didn’t take long for MJF to insult both Schiavone and the Orlando crowd. He told everyone they were looking at the greatest wrestler on God’s green Earth. And why? Because he has the Triple B. Real gold. Real diamonds. Real platinum. And worth more than the fans could dream of having in your bank accounts.
“So if you ever see some schmuck on your TV screen in my sport claim that they’re the best of the best and their name ain’t MJF, grab the remote and change the channel, ‘cause the only thing coming out of their mouth is the same thing coming out of their ass. I am the World’s Champion. I hold the grandest prize of them all. I am professional wrestling, baby.”
He went on to say Bandido was the first of a long list of losers because 2026 is the year of The Devil and ain’t nobody on his level, but Brody King appeared on the stage and made his way to the ring. He walked right up to MJF, so Schiavone gave MJF the mic and wished him well before exiting the ring.
King said after what MJF did to Bandido last week, he’s only thinking of all the ways he wants to hurt MJF. And nothing would give him greater joy than to reach into MJF’s chest and pull out his spine, but he’s not going to do that. Because MJF is a bitch and if King touches him, King won’t get what he wants. He wants a match with MJF so he can choke the life out of him and take his World Title, right here, right now, tonight!
MJF backed into the corner and asked for complete silence to think over the interesting proposition. Surprisingly, Orlando didn’t comply. MJF said he thought about it long and hard, and his answer is no. Not because he’s afraid of Brody. Brody barks. But the barking makes sense because he’s all bark, no bite. Under what grounds does he deserve an AEW World Title shot? Over the last couple of weeks, King has beaten “tomato cans, jabronis, jobbers.” Until King beats elite-level talent, this match won’t take place.
“And I just want to make one more thing clear, if you ever interrupt the champ again, we’re gonna have a problem…”
MJF stuck a finger in King’s chest and immediately regretted his decision. Instead, he backed off and out of the ring.
“...but I got a lot of stuff on my plate, tonight, everybody. I got a lot of real competition around the block. It’s been real.”
King woofed MJF out of the ring and up the aisle, but not before MJF demanded his music be hit.
AEW World Trios Champions “Hangman” Adam Page & JetSpeed (“The Jet” Kevin Knight and “Speedball” Mike Bailey) Have a Big Week
We took a look at the events of the last week at Maximum Carnage that brought Page together with JetSpeed to take the AEW World Trios Titles from The Opps, as Page promised to take everything from Joe. Backstage, Renee Paquette was with the new AEW World Trios Champions. Page said tonight is a night for celebration, and tonight is the night to pick a team name. Knight suggested “Jet Set Rodeo.” Bailey started to say “Horse Co-,” but Page cut him off, saying he'd tried that before and it won’t work. Page said JetSpeed has two matches against two world champions, and on Collision, Page will take on Katsuyori Shibata. Page told Bailey he has everything it takes to beat Samoa Joe and wished him well. When Knight asked for advice on how to handle Swerve, Page simply said, “It’ll be a helluva main event.”
Samoa Joe def. AEW World Trios Champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey
On commentary, the returning Taz said that JetSpeed and Page winning the AEW World Trios Titles was a fluke! Joe immediately bailed to the outside to keep Bailey from getting a jump start. Joe returned to the ring and pounded Bailey down to the mat in the corner. Bailey lit Joe up with kicks and drop-kicked him to the outside. Bailey tried to follow with a baseball slide, but Joe caught him and chopped Bailey to the floor. Joe put Bailey on a chair, but Bailey sprang out of the chair to kick Joe in the chest. Bailey went back into the ring and hit the baseball slide on the second attempt. He immediately followed with an Asai moonsault that connected with Joe! HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata made their way down the aisle, which provided Joe with a distraction to knock Bailey to the floor. Joe took the referee’s attention so HOOK and Shibata could put the boots to Bailey on the outside. Joe had complete control as Bailey returned to the ring.
Joe stayed on the offensive, beating Bailey into the corners with chops, as Speedball gasped for air. Bailey finally got some offense with a pair of kicks to Joe’s face, followed by a missile dropkick from the top! Bailey put Joe on the mat with a pair of kicks, only to miss a running shooting star. Joe came up empty with a running senton, so Bailey kicked him back down to the mat and connected with a shooting star press that nearly got him the upset!
Bailey kicked Joe on the apron, so Joe came back with a headbutt and tried to suplex Bailey, but Bailey landed in the ring and swept Joe’s legs. He tried backflip knees, but Joe moved, and Bailey crashed into the apron. Joe grabbed the referee’s attention once again, so Shibata nailed a suplex on the apron and hung on for another on the floor! He finished his assault with a kneebreaker and threw Bailey back in the ring. Joe put on a kneebar, so Bailey grabbed the bottom rope to break the hold. Joe reversed a Bailey kick into another knee submission, but Bailey made it to the ropes again. Joe toyed with Bailey and landed a kick of his own, but Bailey answered with a crane kick and a combo to set Joe up for the shooting star kneedrop! Bailey hit a round kick to the side of Joe’s head, which got a near-fall!
Bailey went corner to corner with a spin kick that nailed Joe in the side of the face and slumped into the mat. Bailey went to the top, so HOOK jumped on the apron. Joe took the referee away yet again, so Bailey feigned hitting the Ultimate Weapon, but landed on his feet and elbowed HOOK to the floor. Joe missed a charge in the corner, which allowed Bailey to roll him up for a two count. Bailey missed a head kick, and Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch, so Bailey ran up the turnbuckle to flip over Joe for a near-fall! Bailey hit a spin kick to Joe and went to the top. HOOK grabbed the referee’s attention, so Shibata could hold Bailey long enough for Joe to recover and nail a Muscle Buster on Bailey for the pinfall victory.
As Joe celebrated with The Opps, we saw AEW World Champion MJF watching from his locker room.
Trios Street Fight: Death Riders (AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia) def. Don Callis Family (Hechicero, Lance Archer and Rocky Romero)
Don Callis joined the commentary desk as the Death Riders made their way through the crowd for their entrance. Archer, Romero and Hechicero came out with weapons, so Moxley, Yuta and Garcia met them in the aisle, and the street fight was on! Garcia wound up pairing off with Hechicero in the aisle, while Romero and Yuta battled around the ramp, and Moxley fought with Archer. Garcia got Hechicero to tap out on the floor, but it didn’t count because the decision had to take place in the ring. Archer got triple-teamed in the corner, as the Death Riders ran a conveyor belt of clotheslines. Archer was sent to the outside, and Yuta followed with a dive! Archer recovered and chokeslammed Yuta through the timekeeper’s table! That shifted the momentum in a big way!
Moxley found himself in deep trouble against all three members of the Callis Family. Garcia came in to provide some help, but wound up in a trash can that was dropkicked by both Hechicero and Romero. Moxley was once again in a 3-on-1 situation, until he fired a trash can at Hechicero and backdropped Romero to the floor. Archer trucked Moxley with a crossbody and threw a table in the ring. He propped up the table in the corner only to turn around into Marina Shafir! He goozled Shaifr around the neck and lifted her up, but she turned it into an armbar! Shafir picked Archer’s leg and held him long enough for Moxley to hit a running cutter. Moxley charged Archer at the table, but Archer moved and snatched Moxley to put him through the table!
Garcia faced off with Archer, but Archer never saw Yuta coming with a flying knee! Romero and Hechicero returned to put Yuta and Garcia into submissions, which they reversed into submissions of their own! Romero and Hechicero escaped only to be caught by Moxley for a double DDT! Moxley found a board covered in barbed wire and broken glass under the ring and tossed it into the ring! Moxley tried to powerbomb Romero into the board, but Romero grabbed a guillotine to stop it. Moxley turned Romero around to attempt a suplex, so Romero hit a knee on the way up, which allowed Archer to chokeslam Moxley into the barbed wire and glass! Archer went for the cover, but Yuta and Garcia broke it up in time!
Archer brought Yuta up the ramp and grabbed him for a chokeslam, but PAC came out with crutches and smashed Archer in the back. Archer was knocked off the side of the ramp and remained on his feet until Claudio Castagnoli leaped from out of nowhere to grab the crutch from PAC’s hand and nail Archer in one violent motion! He threw Archer into an electrical box that exploded! Hechicero went up the ramp to help, so Shafir followed and stopped him with a low blow. Yuta took Hechicero out with a flying knee! Back in the ring, Moxley locked Romero in the bulldog choke, but Romero was able to roll out. Garcia nailed Romero with a piledriver and locked in a Dragon Tamer, which Moxley punctuated with a stomp to Romero’s head! The referee called for the bell with Romero unable to answer! The Death Riders win!
Moxley and the Death Riders surrounded Callis at the commentary desk, with Moxley delivering a simple message. “Hey, you just tell your boy, he knows where to find me.”
Triangle of Madness Has Room for Gold
Thekla says AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander gives out title shots to everybody, but when Thekla pinned her, Statlander asked what she wanted to do about it. Thekla wants to give Statlander one week to enjoy her life. And then, she wants her title shot in Austin, Texas, next week on Dynamite. Skye Blue said the Triangle has room for more. Julia Hart brought up TBS Champion Willow Nightingale and said she never got a rematch with Nightingale and wants one this Saturday at Collision.
“You like the taste of toxic? Well, drown in it.”
Non-Title Tag Match: AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) def. Alec Price & Jordan Oliver
As Price and Oliver made their entrance, Big Stoke interrupted from the commentary desk to send a message to FTR’s opponents next week for the AEW World Tag Team Championship, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle of the Don Callis Family. He also directed everyone to head to helpbigstoke.com to chip in for his recovery efforts. Tony Schiavone said no one should go there.
Wheeler started with Oliver and handled him, except for Oliver stealing a near-fall on a reversal. Oliver found a flurry of offense with a dropkick to Wheeler and another to Harwood. Price tagged in and both he and Oliver dove onto FTR on the floor! FTR was thrown back into the ring, so they bailed to the outside, and Price immediately followed by flying over the top to take out both of them! Price and Oliver both went to the top at opposite corners, with Oliver connecting on a crossbody to Wheeler, which Wheeler rolled through for a near-fall. Price came off the other side with a stomp to the chest! Oliver covered and got a two-count.
Price tagged back in, but he was quickly cut off by a short clothesline from Wheeler. Price found himself in the wrong corner, as FTR wailed away on him. Harwood tagged in and punished Price in the corner, but Price found some daylight by flipping over Harwood and tagging Oliver on a running rebound off the ropes. Oliver knocked Wheeler to his knees so Price could drop him with a Fame-Asser. Oliver followed with a kick to the face, and Price hit a springboard dropkick to knock Wheeler off the apron!
Oliver scored a pair of near-falls on Harwood, but that only seemed to piss him off. He put Oliver down with a pair of nasty lariats before moving Oliver to the corner for chops. He put Oliver on the top and nailed more chops. Wheeler went to the other turnbuckle to get ready for Power and Glory, but he was met by Price, who sent him to the mat with a hurricanrana. On the other side, Oliver came down on top of Harwood’s superplex attempt and nearly got him the win. Oliver tagged Price, who had to fight off Wheeler on the apron. Meanwhile, Harwood sent Oliver over the top to the opposite side. Price tried to come off the top on Harwood’s, but he ducked, and Price walked into a Shatter Machine to give FTR the victory one week before they face Davis and Doyle with the AEW World Tag Team Championships on the line!
AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander and TBS Champion Willow Nightingale Accept Triangle of Madness’ Challenges
Statlander says Thekla doesn’t know who she’s dealing with, and if you wanna drown her in toxic, Statlander will take Thekla down with her. And if anyone wants an eliminator match on Collision, she will show you exactly what she means. Nightingale said this TBS Championship was all about silencing doubt, and she’s been waiting two years to get another shot at Julia Hart, so on Collision, she’s going to powerbomb her into the mat. Harley Cameron said she’ll be there too, and if Skye Blue tries anything, she’ll punch her in the face.
“Who are we?”
“Babes!”
“What do we have?”
Statlander jumped in to say, “And we have every title you want!”
Kenny Omega def. Josh Alexander
Omega got a massive reception during his entrance, but he barely had a chance to step on the ramp before he was attacked from behind by Alexander! Callis got some cheap shots on Omega while Alexander choked Omega with his shirt. Alexander threw Omega onto the steel steps, then exposed the concrete floor. Omega fought back to nail a moonsault onto Alexander from the guardrail! Omega went to the ring and launched himself onto Alexander on the floor! He threw Alexander into the ring, and the bell rang to officially start the match!
Omega avoided a charge with a boot and followed with a bulldog to get a quick two-count. Omega stopped Alexander with a hurricanrana, but when Omega tried to follow him out, Alexander got on the apron, so Omega pivoted to a big boot. He tried to charge at Alexander again, but was caught, and Alexander dropped him back-first onto the corner of the apron!
Alexander spun Omega off his back with an Argentine powerbomb, but Omega was able to get off the mat. As Omega tried to clear the cobwebs, Alexander brought Omega to the top and crushed his abdomen with a super gutbuster! Omega kicked out! Omega went outside, so Alexander followed and exposed the concrete floor again. Omega avoided Alexander and put Alexander into the concrete with a snap dragon suplex! Omega returned to the ring and crushed Alexander into the floor with a picturesque dive! Omega threw Alexander back in and nailed a missile dropkick to the back of Alexander’s neck, followed by a neckbreaker. Alexander kicked out! Omega set up Alexander for the V-Trigger, but Alexander was ready to stop him with an enzuigiri.
Alexander grabbed Omega and suplexed him over the top, with both men crashing to the floor! They slugged it out on the floor, as the referee continued his count, but when Alexander went to an eye gouge, the referee came to stop it. Omega slammed Alexander’s head into the announce table over and over before chasing Callis into the crowd! When Omega tried to get back in the ring, Alexander grabbed him from the floor with an ankle lock. He smashed Omega’s leg into the apron and tried to suplex him back in, but Omega blocked it. Alexander changed course and leg-whipped Omega over the second rope. With Omega hurting, Alexander sent him crashing to the floor with a running crossbody! Alexander took his time getting congrats from Callis, so when he got back on the apron, Omega was waiting with a V-Trigger! He snatched Alexander for a powerbomb on his neck and nailed another V-Trigger that got a two-count! Omega put Alexander on his shoulders and nailed a One-Winged Angel to get the victory!
Once again, we saw MJF watching from the back.
Omega got the mic to say that Callis struck while the iron was hot, knowing that Omega was nowhere near 100%. But in Omega’s new home of Orlando, he’s feeling better than he has in a long time and said Callis didn’t have anyone on his roster to beat him. But maybe they can try again once he’s the AEW World Champion! Goodbye and goodnight! BANG! Callis watched helplessly as Omega continued to celebrate with the fans.
Technique by Taz: MJF’s Victory Over Bandido
Taz broke down MJF’s submissions that helped him beat the ROH World Champion last week on Dynamite to retain the AEW World Championship, including Salt of the Earth and the LeBell Lock.
Tag Match: “Megasus” Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford def. Timeless Love Bombs (“Timeless” Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa)
Storm and Shirakawa rushed to the ring during their entrance, and all four women brawled to begin the match. Timeless Love Bombs were able to isolate Bayne for some extended double-team offense until Bayne threw Storm out of the ring with a fallaway slam. She followed by chucking Shirakawa over Storm’s head all the way to the floor! Bayne then threw Ford over the top to take out both Storm and Shirakawa!
Shirakawa was in major trouble for the next several minutes with no chances to tag Storm. Bayne cut off Shirakawa’s best chance with a German suplex, but Shirakawa was able to come back with a pair of boots to a charging Bayne. She went to the top and put Bayne on the mat with a missile dropkick. Bayne tagged Ford, but Storm also tagged, and she unloaded on Ford! She nailed a big hip attack in the corner and tagged Shirakawa back into the match. Bayne sent Storm into Shirakawa to break up their double-team attempt on Ford, only for Timeless Love Bombs to knock Ford and Bayne off the apron with stereo hip attacks. Storm propelled Shirakawa to the top and launched her to the floor with a crossbody onto Ford and Bayne!
Storm held Ford in the ring for a top-rope Slingblade from Shirakawa, which connected, but Bayne broke up the pin. She threw Storm to the floor and ate a kick from Shirakawa, but came back with a boot to Shirakawa’s face. Bayne threw Ford into a cutter on Shirakawa, but Storm got back in to break it up. Storm put Bayne down with a DDT, so Ford took Storm out with a stunner! Shirakawa connected on Ford with a spinning back fist and called for a figure four, but took too long and was taken out by Bayne! Bayne put Shirakawa on her shoulders, and Ford came off the top for a Doomsday Device to get the pin on Shirakawa! Storm tried to make the save but was subdued by Marina Shair, who trapped Storm in Mother’s Milk behind the referee’s back! Storm was out cold on the floor!
After the match, we got a preview of the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship match this Saturday on Collision, when champion Claudio Castagnoli will defend against Roderick Strong!
Swerve Strickland def. AEW World Trios Champion “The Jet” Kevin Knight
With another AEW World Title contender, Swerve Strickland, in action, MJF decided to take in the main event from his own box.
Knight did a pretty good job showing up Swerve on multiple occasions to begin the match, including his relentless intent to attack Swerve with his high-impact offense from the air! After a crossbody to the floor, Knight nailed a frog splash crossbody to Swerve in the ring and then mocked Swerve’s dance. That clearly angered Swerve, as he chopped Knight off the top to the floor! He followed Knight and set him up for a piledriver on the steel steps, but Knight backdropped him to the floor. Knight came right back with a clothesline from the apron to Knight, and it was on target! Knight tried to stay on Swerve, but missed an attack back in the ring, and Swerve hit a backbreaker!
Swerve continued to grind Knight down in the ring and hit another backbreaker to set up a leaping elbow to the back of Knight’s head. Swerve showed the proper way to hit his dance and tried for a grab, but Knight fought out of it. Swerve called for Knight to strike him, which Knight punctuated with a shot to Swerve’s jaw! Knight kept the heat on with a suplex and then took Swerve down with a leaping strike! MJF continued to watch from his box.
Knight hit a bodyslam, but Swerve avoided a splash and put Knight down with a flatliner. Swerve called for a House Call, so Knight moved and splashed Swerve across the back. Swerve kicked out at two! Swerve nailed a boot to the jaw and put Knight on the top rope. The two battled until Knight tried a sunset flip powerbomb from the top, but Swerve hung on. Knight let go and got a running start to hit the powerbomb on the second attempt, which he immediately followed with a jumping DDT! Swerve kicked out and rolled to the apron! MJF showed increased interest in the match, as he appeared to encourage Knight to put Strickland away.
Knight and Swerve exchanged strikes on the apron until Swerve stopped Knight’s DDT attempt and turned it into a Death Valley Driver! He brought Knight onto the guardrail and spiked him with a stump piledriver! Swerve seemed to be sending a message to Knight, but he sat on the top rope and waited for Knight to beat the count! When Knight made it in at the last moment, Swerve applauded and then nailed him with a 450 splash! Swerve locked in a dragon sleeper, but Knight fought back to his feet, and Swerve released the hold. Swerve and Knight wound back up on the top rope together until Knight slipped out onto the apron. He hit a springboard hurricanrana and put Swerve in the corner for a coast-to-coast…and he connected!
Knight kept the pressure on with a UFO Splash, but he rolled Swerve too close to the corner, and Swerve got his foot on the ropes! Knight hit his own House Call on Swerve and put Swerve on his shoulders, so Swerve elbowed out. They traded strikes until Swerve caught Knight with a House Call out of midair! Swerve nailed a Vertebreaker followed by Big Pressure to win the main event by pinfall! An angry MJF seethed from his seat as Swerve celebrated to end Dynamite!
