AEW Rampage Preview for August 16, 2024

What a Wednesday night All Elite Wrestling had in Norfolk, VA for DYNAMITE, and the excitement continues tonight with RAMPAGE! We've got five matches on tap, as well as expecting to hear from former AEW Women's World Champion Saraya, so buckle up for a wild ride when The Conglomeration takes on The Butcher and The Outrunners in Trios competition, when AEW World Trios Champion Nick Wayne collides with Kip Sabian, and Top Flight faces MxM Collection in the main event! We will also see “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose in action, as well as RUSH and Kyle Fletcher heading into tag team competition on behalf of The Don Callis Family!  It all begins at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, so get prepared for the night by watching highlights from DYNAMITE, RAMPAGE, and COLLISION, in addition to HEY! (EW),  a look at FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024 with Rocky Romero, and more, all at the official AEW YouTube channel!

Then All Elite Wrestling returns to Arlington, TX for the last show of our PATH TO ALL IN: SUMMER SERIES at the Esports Stadium this Saturday night! A #1 Contenders match has already been signed between FTR and The Acclaimed to see who will face The Young Bucks at ALL IN: LONDON 2024 for the World Tag Team Titles, and there will be plenty more coming with our return to Wembley just nine days away.

Now, while this Saturday may be AEW's last night for the Summer Series, it's certainly not our last time visiting Arlington, in fact we will be back Saturday July 12, 2025 for ALL IN: TEXAS at Globe Life Field, the home of MLB's Texas Rangers! Arlington has been amazing to AEW over the last month with the SUMMER SERIES, as well in all our ventures in the area, and we cannot wait to come back with such a monumental event! For now though, it's all about the United Kingdom and AEW's journey to Cardiff, the ALL IN: LONDON CELEBRATION, and of course, the ALL IN: LONDON 2024 pay-per-view event!

TAG TEAM BOUT...

MxM Collection (Mason Madden & Mansoor) vs. Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin)

Top Flight has had an inconsistent 2024 as a tag team, 4-5 on the year thus far, knocked out of the World Tag Team Title tournament by FTR in the Semifinals, dropped by Private Party in their first match of the year, by The Young Bucks a month after that, and most recently in a Three-Way tag with the BCC and Lee Moriarty/Brian Cage. Top Flight's trios fortunes with Action Andretti haven't been the best either. They are 0-5 in 2024, including losses to Bang Bang Gang in a Unified World Trios Title bout in April, a loss to Undisputed Kingdom a month prior to that, and most recently getting shut down by Shane Taylor Promotions.

All those ups-and-downs have brought Top Flight to a turning point in their career, the first indication of that being the arrival of Leila Grey as their “flight attendant”, and then a realignment with Lio Rush, the man who briefly stood at Dante Martin's side several years ago when Darius was injured. Readjusting their focus led to victory during ROH ON HONOR CLUB two weeks ago, but now they've got to deal with the newest faces on the scene tonight on RAMPAGE when Top Flight steps into the ring with Mansoor and Mason Madden, collectively known as MxM Collection! The two fashion plates have left quite an impression on both AEW and ROH since their victorious in-ring debut over Spanish Announce Project at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024. They more than held their own with FTR in their AEW in-ring debut/defeat, and took home a victory over Private Party two weeks ago on RAMPAGE, but in-between those matches, Mason and Mansoor have find a way to involve themselves in Top Flight's camera time on three occasions, much to the chagrin of the Martin Brothers.

Tonight on RAMPAGE, as a result of MxM insisting the match be changed from its originally scheduled COLLISION position, Top Flight will have an opportunity to put their refocused attitudes into action when they take on Mansoor and Mason Madden in tag team action! Much to their credit, despite being the new kids on the block MxM Collection haven't avoided the deep end of the pool when it comes to tag team competition, and that continues with facing talents like Dante and Darius Martin! Will Top Flight be grounded by the boys from the runway, or will the Martin Brothers take-off towards the success they've been chasing?

TRIOS MATCH...

The Conglomeration (ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, & Tomohiro Ishii)

vs.

The Butcher & The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

Orange Cassidy has got to be feeling it after what he went through on Wednesday night en route to earning the #1 position in the ALL IN: LONDON 2024 Casino Gauntlet match. He certainly took a beating from Roderick Strong and fellow Conglomeration associate Kyle O'Reilly, but Cassidy managed to roll Kyle up in a crucifix pin for the victory, pulling “The Violent Artist” right out of the arm bar he had locked on Roddy into the pinfall. It was a smart play by OC, taking advantage of the situation in order to get the win, and O'Reilly seemed to understand that fact regardless of how frustrated he was at the loss.

There's no rest for the most-prolific competitor in All Elite Wrestling though because Orange Cassidy is right back at it tonight on RAMPAGE when he unites with the other two members of The Conglomeration, Tomohiro Ishii and ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, to take on The Outrunners, Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum, and their third-man, The Butcher! All three of the Conglomeration members have had their run-ins with Butcher, but The Outrunners are new enemies to “The Stone Pitbull” and the ROH World Champion just as they are new partners to The Butcher.

Despite this being a fresh alliance, can they find a way to overcome The Conglomeration tonight on RAMPAGE? Targeting OC may be the ticket to victory after what he went through Wednesday...

ONE-ON-ONE...

AEW World Trios Champion Nick Wayne vs. Kip Sabian

Kip Sabian has been lurking in the shadow of Nick Wayne for several weeks now, listening in as The Patriarchy talked about their business, being the responsible party for Wayne's elimination from Royal Rampage three weeks ago, but the World Trios Champion has finally had enough of Kip's presence and they will come to blows tonight on RAMPAGE!

Nick Wayne has won two of his last three singles matches, but the fact is that it's been three months since his last one-on-one clash inside an AEW ring, as most of Nick's focus has been steered by his “father” Christian Cage towards the Trios division. That being said, it's been far longer since Kip went one-on-one with an opponent, more than eight months as a matter of fact, though he did take part in a Four Way bout back in January ultimately won by Komander. In fact, 2024 to date has been the least productive year in Kip's AEW career with just three matches and one Battle Royal on his resume, and that includes 2022 when he suffered injuries that kept him out of action for nine months out of that year, and 18 months overall. So for Kip, this entire situation with Nick Wayne seems to be about finding his way back into the AEW mix, about figuring out the best way to get himself noticed once again and remind the world why he was the victor in the first singles match AEW ever presented.

Perhaps that's all it was for Kip Sabian, but Nick Wayne certainly took it to the next level with his own comments about Sabian's late father. In the “nature vs. nurture” argument, it's certainly clear where Nick Wayne falls since embracing Christian Cage as his patriarch, but perhaps Kip Sabian can make him eat those words tonight on RAMPAGE!

SARAYA SPEAKS...

It's Saraya's birthday and all the former AEW Women's World Champion wants is to stand inside the ring at Wembley Stadium once again and compete in front of her family, her friends, and in her home. A year ago she did so as challenger to Hikaru Shida's World Championship, and left having claimed the the title as her own. Disappointingly for Saraya, it was a reign cut short after just forty-four days when Shida reclaimed the championship, and ever since Saraya has been chasing that dragon. Now, with Wembley looming just nine days away, Saraya is feeling especially afraid that she won't find her own path to ALL IN: LONDON 2024 seeing as how both the Women's World Title match and the TBS Title match have been set.

Yet the former champion is nothing if not devious, and she's certainly got the will to find a way, so is that what she has to say tonight on RAMPAGE? Did she find her own birthday present in the form of a ticket to Wembley Stadium next Sunday night? We will find out what Saraya has to say about her predicament tonight on TNT!

ALSO IN ACTION:

-Nyla Rose!

-Don Callis Family of RUSH & Kyle Fletcher!

-And More!!

RAMPAGE gets underway at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, and fans can get ready for the action with a visit to the official AEW YouTube channel where highlights from DYNAMITE, RAMPAGE, and COLLISION live, as well as episodes of HEY! (EW), a behind-the-scenes look at FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024 with Rocky Romero, and more! Then it's back to the Esports Stadium in Arlington, TX on Saturday for the final night of our PATH TO ALL IN: SUMMER SERIES, as well as the final Stateside event before All Elite Wrestling travels across the pond for ALL IN: LONDON week! COLLSION will present a #1 Contenders match for the World Tag Titles between FTR and The Acclaimed, four men with quite a rich history over their AEW tenure. The winner meets The Young Bucks at ALL IN: LONDON 2024 in the championship match, and there will certainly be more scheduled for Saturday as AEW's return to Wembley creeps closer!
