AEW Rampage Preview for August 2, 2024

DYNAMITE proved quite an explosive night for All Elite Wrestling, particularly with the Adam Page/Darby Allin match and the entire situation involving Will Ospreay, Lance Archer, and AEW...American...Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman! Then there's the Mercedes Moné, Kamille, and Dr. Britt Baker dynamic, The Acclaimed giving advance warning they're coming FTR on COLLISION,  not to mention the Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland situation escalating as we head towards ALL IN: LONDON 2024 and so much more! Well it's all set to blow up once again tonight on RAMPAGE where former 3-Time ROH Pure Champion opens up the show fighting The Butcher, and we'll see MxM Collection face Private Party in the main event! Between those two bouts, “Bad Apple” Bryan Keith will be in action to prepare for his DYNAMITE fight with Katsuyori Shibata, “The Machine” Brian Cage will also compete, and former AEW Women's World Champion Nyla Rose returns to RAMPAGE for the first time this year to battle The Outcasts' Harley Cameron!

RAMPAGE begins at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, opening up with Wheeler Yuta fighting The Butcher, and fans can get caught up on highlights from DYNAMITE, RAMPAGE, and COLLISION by visiting the official AEW YouTube channel, as well as our other social media platforms, prior to showtime! Then tomorrow night it's a special airing of COLLISION on TNT, starting early at 5pm ET, and featuring a wild eight man tag where The Kingdom and The Beast Mortos battle FTR, Darby Allin, and ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe! Then All Elite Wrestling heads to North Carolina, Winston-Salem specifically, for next Wednesday night's DYNAMITE where AEW “American” Champion MJF takes on “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher and we will see “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson fight “The Last Outlaw” Jeff Jarrett!

TAG TEAM CHALLENGE...

MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Madden) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

Last Saturday night on COLLISION, MxM Collection of Mansoor and Mason Madden made their All Elite Wrestling debut in grand fashion! After scoring victory at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024 the night before over The Spanish Announce Project, Mansoor and Madden stepped up in competition by facing former 2-Time AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR. Though MxM gave Cash and Dax every ounce of fight they had in them, it was FTR who left that night with the victory.

Tonight on RAMPAGE Mansoor and Mason Madden will have a second chance to make a first impression on the AEW fans when they step into the ring one of AEW's original tag teams, Private Party! Now Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen are one of the first teams to sign on with AEW, competing in the Casino Battle Royale at DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2019 and opening the FYTER FEST 2019: BUY-IN, as well as fighting in more tag team bouts over AEW's history than any other duo save The Acclaimed. That being said, Private Party has had a rough go of it since losing to The Young Bucks in the Quarterfinals of the 2024 World Tag Team Title Tournament on March 27th.

Isiah went solo in matches with Orange Cassidy, Samoa Joe, RUSH, Rey Fenix, and others, while Quen recovered from whatever was nagging him, but save a victory over Komander during ROH ON HONOR CLUB #61, those were rather fruitless months for Zay. He got plenty of experience, showed a toughness he had never demonstrated before (particularly in the RUSH fight), but went winless on AEW programming. Quen returned to the fight on the June 7th edition of RAMPAGE, a losing effort against The Gates of Agony, and that set the tone for what their last two months have looked like. Despite scoring a victory in their next outing on the June 21st RAMPAGE, coincidentally over Komander and Metalik, Private Party have since gone 0-5 in their tag team outings.

The AEW faithful know its not a lack of skill or desire on the part of Private Party, but there is clearly something missing in their dynamic as prior to that Young Bucks fight, they seemed poised to finally break through to the next level of tag team competition. After a year-plus on the shelf, Quen returned to action alongside his long-time partner and jumped into an amazing series of bouts with Top Flight that demonstrated how, despite the long layoff, Private Party not only hadn't missed a beat, they'd actually come back better than ever.

Yet since March it's been frustration after frustration, loss after loss, and Private Party are tired of losing. Tonight on RAMPAGE, with the newest team in the AEW landscape as their opponents, Zay and Quen aim to remind the world of their skill inside the squared circle, and why they were the team that shook up The Young Bucks world back in 2019. Whether or not Private Party can find their way  back remains to be seen, but MxM Collection is not about to let their second bout go the same way as their first without giving a tremendous fight!

ONE-ON-ONE...

The BCC's Wheeler Yuta vs. The Butcher

Last night during ROH ON HONOR CLUB, Wheeler Yuta stepped into the ring with Anthony Henry for his first match since losing the ROH Pure Championship to Lee Moriarty at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024. It was not an easy fight, Henry is a hard-hitting striker with excellent mat skills, but Yutes managed to score the victory with a beautiful trapping pin combination. Though the bout gave Yuta an opportunity to begin his rebound from the loss to Moriarty, it also showed the world just what that half of The Workhorsemen brings to the table.

But today is a new day, that victory was yesterday's victory, and tonight is a new night with a new fight, this time against the behemoth Butcher! These two warriors have clashed many times in All Elite Wrestling, but all of those encounters have been in tag team, multi-man, or Battle Royale affairs, and the few times they've engaged with no other units involved have given Yuta's BCC teams a 3-2 advantage over Butch's.

Whether or not any of that win-loss history plays a roll in this bout is something that purely exists in the competitors minds; this is their first one-on-one bout, there is no Blade or Mox or Claudio or Kip Sabian or Danielson to play a part, there is just what Yuta brings to the table, and what Butcher has to match him. The rest is history, the rest is past, but sometimes past is prelude to the present; will that be the case tonight on RAMPAGE with this first-ever singles clash? Can Yuta figure out a way to break down The Butcher's obvious size and power advantage? Or will a Wheeler Yuta forced to stand on his own crumble before the immensity of The Butcher?

SINGLES MATCH...

“The Native Beast” Nyla Rose vs. Harley Cameron

A couple weeks back “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose stepped to the “Anyone but Britt” TBS Championship Open Challenge laid out by Mercedes Moné, and came oh so close to bringing an early end to The CEO's title reign. That proximity to championship success seems to have reignited a fire in the former AEW Women's World Champion because she is coming back to RAMPAGE for the first time in 2024 looking for a fight!

Unfortunately for The Outcasts' Harley Cameron she's drawn the short straw and will get the opportunity to lock-up with Nyla tonight during AEW's Friday night spectacular! Clearly Harley is at a size and experience disadvantage, but it's also a huge opportunity for her to upset the apple cart of the AEW Women's Division by scoring a victory. After all, Nyla is tied for third with Thunder Rosa for most singles wins in the division, tied for first with Hikaru Shida for most wins in the division overall, and is in a dominating first-place lead when it comes to most matches in the Women's Division.

A victory here would clearly be a huge boost to the career of Harley Cameron, perhaps the biggest of her AEW career, but it's going to be a massive uphill battle for this Outcast to get there!

ALSO FEATURING:

-“The Machine” Brian Cage in action!

-“Bad Apple” Bryan Keith in singles competition!!

-And more!!!

The night kicks off at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT with Yuta versus Butcher, so make a point to catch up on highlights from DYNAMITE, RAMPAGE, and COLLISION with a visit to the official AEW YouTube channel, as well as our other social media platforms! Then join us for COLLISION on TNT, airing at a special start time of 5pm ET, for a huge eight man tag pitting The Kingdom and The Beast Mortos against FTR, Darby Allin, and ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe! After that, we are off to Winston-Salem, NC for next week's DYNAMITE featuring AEW “American” Champion MJF fighting “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher and “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson challenging “The Last Outlaw” Jeff Jarrett!
