AEW Rampage Preview for July 19, 2024

DYNAMITE: 250 kicked off with a nearly hour-long draw between Will Ospreay and Maxwell Jacob Friedman with the AEW International Championship at stake, but with just seconds to spare, MJF proved himself once again a dirty cheat and found a way to take the title away from “The Aerial Assassin”. We heard from Mariah May about just why she did what she did to AEW Women's World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm, learned that Darby Allin is joining Team AEW for next Wednesday's Blood & Guts fight in Nashville, and watched as TBS Champion Mercedes Moné ran from Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. It was quite the exciting evening in Little Rock, and that continues tonight on RAMPAGE!

Beginning at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, we've got The Conglomeration taking on The Undisputed Kingdom in Trios action to open the show, with Private Party facing The Lucha Brothers in the main event, and plenty of action going down between the two with Kris Statlander in action, Minoru Suzuki facing The Butcher ahead of his FTW Title fight with Jericho, and “The Learning Tree” will be in tag team action with “The Redwood” Big Bill at his side! Get ready for it by stopping by the official AEW YouTube channel, as well as our other social media platforms, where you can catch highlights from Wednesday night's DYNAMITE, as well as all recent AEW programming!

Then join All Elite Wrestling Saturday night in Arlington, TX at the Esports Stadium for COLLISION, the first event of our PATH TO ALL: IN Summer series in Arlington! We've got a Unified World Trios bout between The Patriarchy and The Bang Bang Gang, Darby Allin versus The Beast Mortos, Thunder Rosa taking on Deonna Purrazzo in a Lumberjack Match, and Skye Blue facing Hikaru Shida!

TAG TEAM MAIN EVENT...

The Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

It's one of the oldest tag team rivalries in All Elite Wrestling, not one built on spite or violence, but rather on the spirit of competition, fighting each other in an 8-Man tag on the first episode of AEW DARK, meeting in their first tag team outing during the original AEW World Tag Title Tournament back in 2019, and then fighting in a Three Way at FULL GEAR 2019 over that same World Tag Team Championship! The two teams were on opposite sides of several multi-man matches in the following few years, but their last tag team encounter took place almost exactly two years ago, July 15th of 2022 on RAMPAGE to be exact, and was won by The Lucha Brothers.

Now with all the experience both teams have garnered over those twenty-four months, the titles the Lucha Brothers have won, all the frustration Private Party has experienced, and the injuries both teams have fought through, they meet again tonight on RAMPAGE in your main event match!

There are no titles on the line, no grudges to be settled, this is just about who is the better team and who will step up towards the role of contenders while the other is left behind! Will Penta and Fenix make it three straight tag team victories over Zay and Quen, or will Private Party get out of this slump they've been in since losing to The Young Bucks back in March during the 2024 World Tag Title Tournament?

ONE-ON-ONE...

Minoru Suzuki vs. The Butcher

On Wednesday night the world watched Minoru Suzuki deliver the news to FTW Champion Chris Jericho that they would face off at DYNAMITE this coming Wednesday night, not only with that title on the line, but also with “The Redwood” Big Bill and “Bad Apple” Bryan Keith banned from ringside!

Suzuki told Jericho ahead of FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024 that he had no interest in being an ally to “The Learning Tree”, that he only wanted to fight him, and it looks like next week he'll get his chance in the shadow of Blood & Guts! But that's Wednesday night, tonight on RAMPAGE, the legendary grappler has his hands full with one of AEW's behemoth's, none other than The Butcher!

With The Blade on the shelf recovering from injury, Butch has focused on singles competition throughout 2024, stepping into the ring with everyone from Claudio Castagnoli to Daniel Garcia to Swerve Strickland to Dustin Rhodes. He's tested himself against a variety of styles from opponents of all sizes, and with each progressive match he's gotten just a bit better, a bit tougher, a bit stronger, but this is Minoru Suzuki. This is a man whose love for inflicting pain is unparalleled in professional wrestling, and Butcher is going to have his hands full stepping into the ring with “The King of Pancrase”!

TRIOS GRUDGE MATCH...

The Conglomeration (Kyle O'Reilly, Orange Cassidy, & Tomohiro Ishii)

vs.

The Undisputed Kingdom (ROH World Tag Champions Matt Taven & Mike Bennett and Roderick Strong)

We've watched The Conglomeration and The Undisputed Kingdom at each other's throats for the last several weeks, the crux of the issue being Kyle O'Reilly's refusal to join his “friends” under the Undisputed Kingdom's banner, but also the history between Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong that involved “The Messiah of the Backbreaker” ending OC's second International Championship reign. Well after last week on COLLISION, where Roderick Strong defeated Dalton Castle to earn a ROH World Championship match at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024 (www.watchroh.com), it's now also about the title fight between Roddy and Mark Briscoe on July 26th! Theirs is a rich history dating back twenty years, but this will be the first time a singles title has been contested between the two, as well as the first time they've fought at this ROH tent pole event, so that makes the outcome of this Trios match even more crucial to the big picture!

Then there is Tomohiro Ishii; on February 19th of 2016 during ROH's HONOR RISING: JAPAN 2016 event, “The Stone Pitbull” was the man responsible for ending Roderick's second ROH World TV Title reign. They had several other encounters in 2016, not to mention the FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024: ZERO HOUR Four Way Tag, and there's no doubt they are two of the hardest hitting individuals anywhere in the professional wrestling landscape. Put all these issues together, and this is going to be an explosive trios match tonight on RAMPAGE!

-Kris Statlander in action!

-FTW Champion Chris Jericho & “The Redwood” Big Bill in tag team competition!

-And More!

RAMPAGE gets underway at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, kicking off with The Undisputed Kingdom in Trios action against The Conglomeration, and then the party really gets rolling with Minoru Suzuki fighting The Butcher, “The Learning Tree” Chris Jericho and Big Bill will be in tag team action, Kris Statlander is competing, and in the main event, Private Party takes on The Lucha Brothers !
