AEW Rampage Preview for June 7, 2024

Tonight RAMPAGE is coming your way at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, and what a night of competition in store for the AEW faithful coming off a white-hot edition of DYNAMITE! Wednesday gave fans an amazing AEW World Championship match between Swerve Strickland and Roderick Strong, the official confirmation of AEW Women's World Champion Toni Storm defending against Mina Shirakawa at FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024, and ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe qualifying for the TNT Championship Ladder Match also taking place on that pay-per-view extravaganza!

Tonight we've got a loaded up Friday for the AEW faithful in Colorado with Mina Shirakawa taking on Serena Deeb, Penta El Zero Miedo clashing with The Butcher, Private Party and The Gates of Agony fighting in tag team action, plus The Acclaimed in tag team action, as well as Juice Robinson's first match since returning from injury as The Bang Bang Gang compete in Trios competition! So be sure to check in on the official AEW YouTube channel before the night begins, for highlights from this week's DYNAMITE, as well as previous episodes of RAMPAGE and COLLISION, highlights from DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2024, Chuck Taylor joining Renee Paquette's Close-Up, and a great deal more for your viewing pleasure! Then Saturday night we are off to Council Bluffs, IA and the Mid-America Center for an all-new COLLISION!

ONE-ON-ONE...

Mina Shirakawa vs. Serena Deeb

It was made official on Wednesday night, Stardom's Mina Shirakawa will challenge “Timeless” Toni Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship at FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024 come June 30th on Long Island! Of course there is the Mariah May factor involved in that, whether her loyalties lie with her Club Venus partner from their time together in Stardom, or her idol “Timeless” Toni Storm. Thankfully, at least for one night, that can be set aside because it's not “The Timless One” or Mariah involved in this fight, but rather the woman who had Toni Storm dead to rights at DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2024 in their championship match: “The Professor” Serena Deeb!

Deeb obviously wants back into that title picture while Shirakawa needs to keep up her winning ways heading towards that scheduled champinoship bout in three weeks; given the world-class skills of both these women, Shirakawa versus Deeb will no doubt be a tremendous Friday night fight for fans of professional wrestling!

TAG TEAM BOUT...

The Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

FTW Champion Chris Jericho has extended the offer to Private Party for an apperance on his Learning Tree this coming Wednesday in Des Moines but Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen clearly had no interest in what Jericho was selling them. Instead they are focused on the task at hand tonight on RAMPAGE, their first tag team match since March 27th when they lost to The Young Bucks in the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament.

We've seen Isiah Kassidy roll solo against the likes of Samoa Joe, RUSH, and Rob Van Dam in Marq Quen's absence, but now with Quen back to compete, Private Party is returning to tag team action with an indomitable task: fighting Gates of Agony!

Now that they have violently seperated from Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana, Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona are aiming to make the most of their incredible potential as a team and do something for themselves rather than for the benefit of Swerve. That means championship aspirations, that means scoring victories, and that means running through Private Party tonight on RAMPAGE! Now these four men have never shared the ring on AEW programming, so it's going to be quite intriguing to see how the power of Kaun and Toa matches up against the daredevil nature of Quen and Zay.

This is going to be a wild tag team encounter, of that there is no doubt, but the question is who will emerge with the victory and who will find themselves slipping farther away from earning contendership in the tag team rankings?

ONE-ON-ONE...

Penta El Zero Miedo vs. The Butcher

Penta El Zero Miedo and The Butcher are quite familiar with one another; they've operated as allies in the past, they've competed against one another as foes, but this in fact is their first meeting one-on-one! Penta recently reunited with his brother Rey Fenix and PAC to bring Death Triangle back to life, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have singles aspirations as well. That was evident a week ago when Penta gave Takeshita a tremendous fight in their Qualifying Bout for the TNT Championship Ladder Match at FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024, and though it resulted in a loss for the former AEW World Tag Champion, it isn't something that stiffling his desire to add an AEW singles championship to his resume.

As for The Butcher, with The Blade recovering from injuries, he's been delving into singles matches as well, taking on Swerve Strickland, Dustin Rhodes, and Claudio Castagnoli over the past few months, and trying to hone his chops until The Blade is ready to get into the fray once again!

It's going to be a tremendous clash tonight on RAMPAGE when these two forces meet; do not miss out on this first-ever bout going down in Colorado!
