AEW Collision Recap Tonight for Salisbury

The Death Riders Against the World

We started the show with comments from the Death Riders after Wednesday’s Dynamite, as Jon Moxley addressed Kyle O’Reilly. Every time Mox steps in the ring with O’Reilly, Mox can’t find a way to win. It’s been failure after failure, Mox admitted. He has been tapped out by O’Reilly twice. But the Jon Moxley of six months ago is not the same as the Jon Moxley of today, and he’ll be even better tomorrow. Logic should dictate that Mox stay as far away from O’Reilly as he can, because Kyle clearly has his number. But the thing about the Continental Championship is that it’s good bait. All the dragons Mox wants to slay come to his door. He will do what he has done for 22 years. He’s going to find a way.

Claudio Castagnoli addressed his opening round opponent in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, Brody King. King always brings the bark, but if steps in the ring with Claudio, in the Owen Hart Tournament, he better bring the bite. We then heard from PAC, Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir, who emphasized that it’s the Death Riders against the world – and the p***ies.

AEW World Trios Championship Eliminator Match: The Conglomeration’s Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly and Mark Briscoe def. Shane Taylor Promotions (Lee Moriarty, “Capt.” Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo)

The Conglomeration were out first, as Kyle O’Reilly chilled while waiting for his teammates. Next out were STP, accompanied by Taylor himself.

We got things started with Briscoe and Bravo, as Carlie opened things up with a boot to the gut. Bravo and Briscoe exchanged running the ropes before Briscoe planted some Redneck Kung Fu on Bravo’s jaw! Bravo tagged in Moriarty, as Briscoe made the tag to O’Reilly, pitting two of the most technical wrestlers in AEW against each other! The two exchanged a series of clever holds and pinfall attempts, interspersed with strike exchanges and a bit of trash talk aimed at Nigel McGuinness by Moriarty. O’Reilly took the opportunity to lock Moriarty in an ankle lock, but all six men started to brawl until The Conglomeration went to work on Moriarty with mounted punches in the corner. Moriarty was able to tag in Dean, who dared OC to put his hands in his pockets. Orange obliged and got the better of Dean, then escaped Bravo, slamming both men headfirst into the turnbuckle multiple times! OC went to the top, but Moriarty pulled him off of the top. Bravo and Dean then went to work with some tandem offense on OC, before Taylor hit Cassidy with a splash with the ref distracted!

Back from the break, STP continued to take it to Orange Cassidy, with Taylor himself helping get in on the punishment from all the way on the outside of the ring! But when the official noticed the cheating, STP went spilling to the outside, letting OC make the tag to O’Reilly, who came in like a house of fire! O’Reilly took the advantage over Moriarty, but when he tried to lock in an armbar, The Infantry recovered and turned the tables! O’Reilly fought through both members of The Infantry, and finally, Briscoe was tagged back in as the arena erupted!

Briscoe fought off all of STP and went for a Jay Driller, but Bravo blocked before being sent to the outside. OC hit STP with a dive, and Briscoe grabbed a chair to go flying over the top rope. When Taylor tried to stop him, OC took him out, and Briscoe took out everybody! Back in the ring, Briscoe hit the Froggy Bow on Dean, then put him away with the Jay Driller for the win!

Will Ospreay Addresses Samoa Joe

Backstage, Ospreay addressed his Quarterfinal opponent in the Owen Hart Tournament, Samoa Joe. Ospreay said he’d been a little busy getting ready for the Owen, which is why he hadn’t replied to Joe’s messages about Ospreay’s alliance with the Death Riders. He wanted to explain something to Joe. Ospreay had six months taken away from him by injury. Six months of frustration and anger. And Ospreay finally had his killshot at Dynasty, but he lost. Since then, he’s been struggling in his matches, and the doctors even stopped one of his matches for his own safety.

Ospreay is upset he didn’t get revenge on Mox, but he’s more upset that maybe he can’t be the guy he’s supposed to be. And regardless of how Ospreay feels about the Death Riders, there’s nothing Ospreay can say that would ever make people understand. Mox is the ace of this place. And while his methods might be sick, people who stand next to him get elevated. So what might happen with Mox in Ospreay’s corner? Because no one is stopping Ospreay from winning the Owen.

The Conglomeration is Ready to Conglomerate!

Backstage, Kyle O’Reilly addressed Mox in turn, saying that facing the AEW Continental Champion has been the biggest test of O’Reilly’s career. O’Reilly is putting all his chips in, and he’s going to submit Mox again.

Briscoe then stepped up, saying that he challenged Ciampa, and he hasn’t heard a word from Tommaso. So if he’s scared, he should step up and say something! Orange Cassidy then encouraged Willow to say something. Nightingale said that she’s ready to defend the TBS Title AND win the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament – although her match against Red Velvet was right now!

TBS Championship Match: Willow Nightingale (c) def. ROH Women’s World Television Champion Red Velvet

And with that, it was time for Willow to make her entrance! After the TBS Champion made her way to the ring, we heard from Red Velvet backstage, who talked about how disrespected she felt about not being in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament field and how she was going to take that out on Willow, before she made her way down the ramp.

Both women fought to gain the early upper hand, with Willow scoring the first pinfall attempt of the match, before both women rose to their feet and exchanged a handshake – only for Velvet to try to seize the moment with a quick attack that allowed the ROH Women’s World TV Champion to back Willow into the corner – only for the TBS Champion to duck out of the way and batter Velvet with lariats! Velvet went for a crucifix pin for a one-count before Willow hit a fisherman’s suplex but missed a senton. The TBS Champ rolled to the outside and Velvet gave chase, but Willow hit a stalling vertical suplex on the outside as we went to commercial.

Back from the break, Willow had Velvet in trouble in the ring and looked for a Death Valley driver on the apron, but Velvet fought back and seized the advantage after a missed cannonball to the outside by Willow, scoring a near-fall after a DDT, dual knees to the back of the head, and a bulldog. Willow scored a two-count of her own after a sidewalk slam, then ran Velvet into the corner, but Velvet countered with a DDT! Willow then countered Velvet and slammed her into the mat before trying a Babe with the Powerbomb, but Velvet escaped! Willow slammed Velvet to the ground once more for another two-count.

The two women exchanged blows in the center of the ring before Nightingale took Velvet down with a huge clothesline. Velvet was the first woman to her feet, dodging a charging Willow in the corner and taking her up top before sending her crashing to the mat for another two-count! Velvet demanded that Willow get up, and Nightingale obliged, hitting Velvet with the Pounce! Willow followed that up with the Babe with the Powerbomb for the win!

The History of Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara

We were treated to a package recapping the history between AEW World Champion Darby Allin and his title challenger tonight, Sammy Guevara! As two of the original Four Pillars of AEW, these two men have a ton of history together – with Guevara having gotten the better of Allin more often than not in their bouts!

Sammy Guevara Knows History is on His Side

Backstage, Guevara was with Lexy Nair, cutting her off and saying that everyone’s favorite Pillar was about to talk. Guevara doesn’t need to call his shot against Darby, because the history books are on his side. So Guevara is going to beat Allin like he’s beaten him before, and then he’s going to beat MJF at Double or Nothing next week and shave him bald! Sammy is the best this business has!

Darby Allin Has Words for MJF

Backstage, Lexy Nair was with Darby Allin, as she asked him about his upcoming sixth world title defense. But Darby said that when he arrived at the venue today, he asked if he would see MJF. But Darby knew Max wouldn’t be at Collision, because he’s not a company man. As for Darby? Why would he be here? It’s because he loves this. Even if he’s risking losing the world title, he loves it. And if he walks out world champion tonight, Speedball? Then Darby’s ready to give you a shot on Wednesday.

Mark Briscoe and Tommaso Ciampa Brawl En Route to Anything Goes!

Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness started to discuss what we’d just heard from both Guevara and Allin, only to be alerted to a disruption in the back. Cameras caught Ciampa and Briscoe brawling, as their fight spilled into the ringside area, with Briscoe tossing a chair into the ring, followed by Ciampa! Ciampa rolled out, but Briscoe hit a cannonball onto Ciampa on the outside, then threw another chair into the ring, then threw Ciampa back in! Unfortunately for Briscoe, Ciampa hit him with a low blow, then destroyed him with a chair shot to the lower back before choking Briscoe with the chair against the bottom turnbuckle.

Ciampa then hoisted Briscoe up onto the top turnbuckle in a different corner, setting up a chair in the middle of the ring. Ciampa hit Briscoe with the second chair, then looked to hoist him up for a Psycho Killer off the top onto the chair – but Orange Cassidy and Kyle O’Reilly ran out to make the save! Briscoe grabbed a microphone and said that it has become clear that the only way to handle this is with an Anything Goes match!

The Opps’ Samoa Joe & Anthony Bowens def. The Lethal Twist’s Jay Lethal & Lee Johnson

Before this match between dual sets of mentors and proteges, we learned that Swerve Strickland, who ambushed ROH World Champion Bandido (his first-round opponent in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament) at Friday night’s ROH Supercard of Honor, will return to AEW television this Wednesday!

The two mentors started this one, as Joe and Lethal faced off in the ring, with Lethal giving Joe a little bit of a strut. Joe didn’t take too kindly to that, as he kicked Lethal down into the corner and stomped him in the head for good measure. Shortly thereafter, both Johnson and Bowens tagged in, with Johnson gaining an early upper hand, before Bowens was able to evade the speed of Johnson and started to chop and kick his opponent down in the corner! Lethal tried to lend Johnson a hand, but Bowens showed his new killer instinct and fought off both men before tagging in Joe, hitting Johnson with a leg sweep to set Joe up for a big senton and a two-count! Joe chased Johnson to the corner, where Lethal tried to head off the Samoan Submission Machine. Joe fended off Lethal before Blake Christian was able to distract Joe just long enough for The Lethal Twist to gain the advantage as we went to break!

Back from commercial, Lethal had Joe cinched in a headlock and tagged in Johnson. Joe tried to fight off both men, but Johnson was able to score a near-fall after a tag that Bowens had to think about breaking up before Joe kicked out! Lethal and Johnson continued to take the fight to Joe, but the former AEW World Champion planted Lethal with a power slam and tagged in Bowens, who floored both opponents over and over! Johnson tried to fight back, but Bowens picked Johnson up for a flatliner! Bowens then hit Johnson with Rock, Paper, Scissors, but Johnson and Lethal were able to set Lethal up for a King’s Elbow! The Lethal Twist continued their tandem offense, but Joe blocked a blow from Lethal in the corner, then came in and destroyed both Johnson and Lethal! Lethal tried for a figure-four leglock, but Joe blocked and put him in a Coquina Clutch as Bowens made Johnson tap! The Opps win!

Swerve Strickland and Bandido Are on A Collision Course

We were treated to a package going over Swerve Strickland’s recent hunt of ROH World Champion Bandido, including Swerve’s ambush of Bandido after the champion’s defense at Friday’s Supercard of Honor. These two men will now meet in the Quarterfinal of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament!

Brodido Address Swerve Together

Backstage, Lexy Nair was with both Bandido and Brody King. King started to address Swerve, but Bandido stopped him, saying that this is his battle. A heated Bandido told Swerve that this is a battle he will not win! Swerve might be the Most Dangerous, but Bandido is the Most Wanted! And after Bandido is done with Swerve, he will no longer be a danger to anyone!

Divine Dominion is Unstoppable

Divine Dominion gloated about how their last 5-Minute Eliminator Challenge barely lasted two minutes. But that’s not a stopwatch; it’s a death clock. And with another challenge on the docket for tonight, they were expecting simply more of the same – because there is no one who can touch these two!

AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship 5-Minute Eliminator: Divine Dominion (Lena Kross and Megan Bayne) def. Allie Katch & Kaia McKenna

The tag champs made their entrance with their opponents already waiting in the ring. Bayne and Katch started things off, with Bayne quickly establishing her dominance with a huge dropkick and clubbing forearms. Bayne tagged Kross in, and the two tag champs continued to beat the living hell out of both of their opponents. Kross tagged Bayne back in, and both hit their opponents with fallaway slams, then stereo splashes in opposite corners and big flying clotheslines! With that, it was time for Divine Intervention, as the tag champs picked up the quick win in 1:57!

AEW Women’s World Championship 4-Way Should Be a Doozy

We were treated to a vibrant package recapping how we got to the 4-Way Match for the AEW Women’s World Championship between champion Thekla, Kris Statlander, Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida coming up at next Sunday’s AEW Double or Nothing!

Athena and Mina Come Face-to-Face

Backstage, Lexy Nair was with ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and her opponent for the Quarterfinal of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, Mina Shirakawa! Athena said that the facts are that she has been champion for over 1,250 days, and she’s left dozens of cold bodies in her wake – and she’s pretty sure Mina is one of them! And she’s going to leave her dead again next to her precious Toni Storm. But Mina said that she’s no longer going to dream about beating Athena – she’s going to live it!

Lio Rush Says It’s Fine

We were treated to some footage from Nigel’s win against Josh Woods at Friday night’s Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor, then footage of Rush’s match for the ROH World TV Title, during which Rush’s former tag team partner, Action Andretti, cost Rush the victory.

We then saw footage from earlier today, as Nigel found Rush sitting in a hallway. Rush sounded somewhat normal, complimenting Nigel on his performance on Friday. Nigel said that he wanted to talk about last night, asking Rush about what happened with Andretti. Rush said that it’s fine. These things happen. Friends get upset. It’s fine. It’s … fine.

When McGuinness walked away, Rush removed his sunglasses to reveal red irises as a sickening liquid leaked out of the corners of his mouth.

Trios Match: Don Callis Family’s Mark Davis & The Dogs’ David Finlay and Clark Connors def. The Rascalz (Myron Reed, Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier)

The AEW National Champion and The Dogs were out first, after The Dogs harassed someone on the production team once more. The Rascalz were out next, and this match was underway! Xavier and Davis started things in the ring, although The Dogs immediately made their presence felt – only for Xavier to level both with a single dropkick! That gave The Rascalz a chance to team up on Davis in the corner. But when The Rascalz tossed Davis against the ropes, The Dogs were quick to pull him to safety!

The fight spilled to the outside from there, with The Dogs taking out Reed and Wentz while Davis and Xavier went to war in the ring. Wentz and Reed made their way back into the ring as they triple teamed Davis once more. The Dogs were quick to help their teammate, however, taking down Wentz with some tandem offense before Davis splashed the Rascal for good measure as we went to commercial!

Back from the break, The Dogs had Wentz in trouble, but he was able to evade both – until Connors put him on the mat with a huge shoulder tackle. Connors tossed Wentz into the rope, but the Rascal bounced back with a spinning kick to take down the Dog before tagging in Reed! Reed went to work on The Dogs, hitting a head kick on Finlay then taking out Connors, before both he and Xavier hit double superkicks on Finlay for a two-count! Wentz tagged back in, as The Rascalz went for triple-team offense in the corner. But Davis threw Reed off the top rope, and he and The Dogs cleared house! Davis begged for the tag, which he received, then climbed the top rope, only for Xavier to take him down with a superplex! The Rascalz then hit stereo dives to the outside on all three opponents!

The Rascalz dragged Davis back into the ring and hit him with an innovative dropkick, followed by three splashes onto the prone AEW National Champion – but only for a two-count, as The Dogs made the save, before blasting The Rascalz on the outside! Reed tried to take them out, but Davis stopped Reed and floored him with a huge clothesline before Close Your Eyes and Count to Three! The Dogs finished Reed off with The Clip for the win!

TayJay is Back!

Backstage, we heard from Anna Jay after her recent return against Willow Nightingale. Jay said that Willow might have taken the win, but she certainly didn’t kill Jay’s comeback. And with that, we saw Jay reunite with Tay Melo. And they said that if anyone wants to find out what happens next, just try them.

AEW World Championship Match (No Count Outs): Darby Allin (c) def. LFI’s “The Spanish God” Sammy Guevara

It was time for our main event! Guevara was out first, as he set up tables around the ring for this No Countout match. When Allin kneeled in the ring over his AEW World Title before the bell, Guevara jumped him, taking Allin to the outside and setting up one of the tables at the entrance ramp. Guevara then grabbed a ladder and set that up just in front of the table. Guevara floored Allin with a running knee, then placed Allin on the table and climbed the ladder. Guevara leaped from the heavens and crashed through Allin and the table!

Both men somehow made their way back into the ring, where Allin reversed the tables (figuratively) and cinched in a Scorpion Death Lock! But the damage from the table crash had clearly been done, as Allin seemed to pass out and collapse onto the mat in the midst of the hold! But there was no sympathy from Guevara, who hit a springboard splash onto the world champion for a two-count! Guevara followed up with another near-fall, then hoisted Allin up onto the top turnbuckle, only for Allin to fend off Guevara and send him crashing to the mat. Allin got into position for a Coffin Drop, but Guevara shoved him off the turnbuckle, sending Allin crashing to the floor! Guevara continued to take the fight to Allin, taunting the world champion as we went to commercial!

Back from the break, Allin and Guevara continued their war on the apron, with the world champion sending the challenger hurtling with a shotgun dropkick! Allin then went flying toward Guevara, but his toes caught the bottom rope as Guevara also countered with a cutter! Guevara went for a springboard in the ring, but Allin caught him in a choke! Guevara powered to his feet but collapsed with Allin on his back. Guevara eventually made his way to the rope for the break. Allin climbed the turnbuckles again, but Guevara countered, seizing the advantage against the bruised and battered world champion. Guevara took Allin to the top rope once more, but Allin fought him off, only for Guevara to flip backward off the top rope, charge back up the ropes, and hit Allin with a huge Spanish Fly for a two-count!

Guevara continued to bring the punishment against Allin, but somehow, someway, the world champion was able to leap off the middle rope and turn himself into a missile to take down Guevara before hitting him with a Code Red for a two-count! But Guevara recovered and lifted Allin onto his shoulders for a GTH! Guevara hit another! But he wasn’t done, as Guevara went to the top rope for a frog splash and a pin attempt – but Darby kicked out AGAIN! What a match!

Guevara took things to the outside, setting up one of the original tables just outside the ring, before climbing up to the top of the nearest turnbuckle. Guevara went for a 630 splash, but Allin rolled out of the way! The world champ threw Guevara into the ring and hit a Coffin Drop for the win! That’s six world title defenses for Allin – and the champ has said that “Speedball” Mike Bailey is next on Wednesday’s 3-hour AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision!
