AEW Collision Preview

Tonight, AEW Collision: Summer Blockbuster is a 2.5-hour event at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on TNT and streaming on HBO Max, as we return to the Andrew J. Brady Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. You can expect a violent finale to Summer Blockbuster week as the Death Riders collide with Shane Taylor Promotions in a 10-person Cincinnati Street Fight!

The war between the Death Riders and Shane Taylor Promotions has been building for weeks. It boils over tonight when Cincinnati’s own, AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley, leads Daniel Garcia, PAC, Claudio Castagnoli and Marina Shafir into battle against Taylor, ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty, Carlie Bravo, Shawn Dean and Trish Adora, with nothing to stop these two sides from tearing each other apart.

The Young Bucks and The Dogs face off in tag team action, with both teams believing they are the rightful No. 1 contenders to AEW World Tag Team Champions Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. The newest member of the Don Callis Family, TNT Champion "The Jet" Kevin Knight, puts his title on the line against The Rascalz' Myron Reed. Reed's fellow Rascalz, Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz, will also be in tag-team action tonight.

Plus, Kenny Omega makes his return to singles competition for the first time in two months, facing TMDK's Bad Dude Tito, with an AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door showdown against Zack Sabre Jr. on the horizon. We’ll see two TBS Championship Survival of the Fittest Qualifiers, as former TBS Champion Julia Hart faces CMLL World Women's Champion Persephone and former three-time AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida squares off with Zayda Steel. ROH Women's World Champion Athena will be in action ahead of her Owen Cup Semifinal against Maya World. And "Speedball" Mike Bailey continues his personal war with the Don Callis Family when he takes on the punishing Jake Doyle.

Here's everything you need to know about tonight's Collision: Summer Blockbuster in Cincinnati!

AEW Collision: Summer Blockbuster Matches, Preview for Cincinnati

Kenny Omega vs. TMDK’s Bad Dude Tito

Kenny Omega is back in an AEW ring tonight on Collision! His last singles appearance came at AEW Dynasty in April, when he lost his AEW World Championship match against MJF. Since then, Omega has only competed in Stadium Stampede at AEW Double or Nothing, coming away victorious.

On Dynamite, we learned that Zack Sabre Jr. issued a challenge to Omega, which was accepted. So at Forbidden Door, Omega meets ZSJ for the first time in eight years. With that match just over two weeks away, Omega steps into the ring against the imposing, hard-hitting heavy, Bad Dude Tito, a stablemate of Sabre Jr. in TMDK.

TNT Championship: "The Jet" Kevin Knight (c) vs. Myron Reed

Kevin Knight has made it clear he wants MJF and the AEW World Championship, so much so that he’s agreed to be on MJF’s team for the six-on-six steel cage match vs. Team Briscoe at Forbidden Door in exchange for a shot. However, he has to keep his focus on his TNT Championship tonight, or Myron Reed could walk out of Cincinnati with his first AEW gold!

Reed has a unique blend of quickness and innovativeness that is hard to prepare for, although Knight’s newfound aggression might be the perfect way to combat Reed’s skills. Knight’s arrival into the Don Callis Family has also given him an extra layer of Family-based protection that Reed might have to contend with during the match. Can Knight hold onto the TNT Championship and keep his eyes on the bigger prize? Or does Reed pull off the upset and take The Rascalz to a higher ground?

Cincinnati Street Fight: Death Riders (AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley, "The Bastard" PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia and "The Problem" Marina Shafir) vs. Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, ROH Pure Champion "TAIGASTYLE" Lee Moriarty, "Tattoos & Bad News" Carlie Bravo, "The Captain" Shawn Dean and Trish Adora)

Shane Taylor made his proclamation loud and clear over the last two weeks: STP make up the most violent group in AEW. After Moxley successfully defended the AEW Continental Championship against Taylor on Wednesday's Dynamite, Taylor and STP attacked Moxley and the outnumbered Death Riders with a dangerous variety of weapons. That prompted the Death Riders to issue the Cincinnati Street Fight challenge for tonight’s Collision.

As we heard on Dynamite, it’s very clear that Cincinnati is Moxley's home turf, but just how advantageous will that be to Moxley and the Death Riders in a fight that could end up all over the city limits? With both sides trying to prove they are the most violent, tonight has the potential to be one of the most chaotic and violent brawls in Collision history!

Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) vs. The Dogs (David Finlay and Clark Connors)

Both teams want the same thing: a shot at AEW World Tag Team Champions Cage and Cope. The Young Bucks have been fighting their way back into contention, while The Dogs viciously attacked the champions and beat former champions The Gunns two weeks ago on Collision.

These two sides have been in the ring many times over the last two months, but this will be the first time they meet in traditional tag team action. It’s fair to say the winner of this match has a compelling argument for a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championship – so will it be The Dogs who continue their win-at-all-costs ways, or will the Young Bucks beat the bullies of the tag team division?

TBS Championship Survival of the Fittest Qualifier: Triangle of Madness’ Julia Hart vs. CMLL World Women's Champion Persephone

The TBS Championship has been vacant since Willow Nightingale relinquished the title due to injury last month, and for the first time in AEW, Survival of the Fittest will determine the new champion on the July 1 edition of Dynamite. Tonight, two of the six qualifying matches take place, although the battle between Julia Hart and Persephone goes deeper than the pursuit of championship gold.

Hart blinded Persephone with the black mist nearly two months ago, which has clearly hurt the CMLL World Women's Champion ever since. Persephone is stepping into tonight's match not just for a spot in Survival of the Fittest, but for retribution. Hart, meanwhile, is a former TBS Champion and would only make Triangle of Madness that much stronger if she added the TBS Title to a group that already flaunts AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla.

Who punches their ticket to Survival of the Fittest? Hart or Persephone?

TBS Championship Survival of the Fittest Qualifier: Hikaru Shida vs. Zayda Steel

It’s experience versus tenacity in this qualifying match. Shida has given up caring about anyone except herself and is out to prove she can become TBS Champion by outlasting a field that includes some of her greatest adversaries. And although she doesn’t have the long-term experience of Shida, Steel knows the format firsthand after qualifying and competing in the ROH Women’s World Championship Survival of the Fittest last month at Supercard of Honor.

Will it be the former three-time AEW Women’s World Champion who takes the first step towards more gold? Or can Steel score the upset and earn her spot in Survival of the Fittest?

"Speedball" Mike Bailey vs. Jake Doyle of The Don Callis Family

Speedball has been through it since TNT Champion “The Jet” Kevin Knight forcefully ended the partnership of JetSpeed, and that only got worse last week on Dynamite, when Knight joined the Don Callis Family and beat Bailey with some well-placed interference by Doyle and a trip by Callis. Tonight, Bailey continues the fight against the Callis Family when he faces the dangerous Doyle one-on-one!

ROH Women's World Champion Athena in Action

"The Fallen Goddess" ROH Women's World Champion Athena is in action tonight ahead of her Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament Semifinal against Maya World. Only World stands in the way of Athena reaching her first Owen Cup Finals after being knocked out in the semis last year and in 2023. Athena will look to send a message to her opponent and former student with her match tonight on Collision.

The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz) in Action

With their stablemate Myron Reed challenging for the TNT Championship tonight, Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz bring their own high-flying tag team action to the Summer Blockbuster card in Cincinnati! Can anyone ground them?
