AEW Continental Challenge Cup: Full Field & First 8 Matches Announced, How It Works, More

With AEW All In: London right around the corner, there's never been a better time to be an All Elite Wrestling fan! And with the inaugural AEW Continental Challenge Cup culminating at Wembley Stadium, the excitement heading into this summer's epic event keeps cranking up!


The Continental Challenge Cup is a new, single-elimination tournament that will culminate at AEW All In: London, where the winner takes home the trophy and the AEW Continental Title.


On Monday, AEW CEO, GM & President Tony Khan, alongside the legendary Tony Schiavone, revealed the full field of 16 fighters as well as the first 8 matches for the first ever AEW Continental Challenge Cup, as well as a breakdown of how the tournament will work.

AEW Continental Cup: First 8 Matches


The Continental Cup matches are determined by random blind draw. After the first eight matches, the eight winners will go back into the pool for another random blind draw for the next round.

How the AEW Continental Challenge Cup Works



The AEW Continental Challenge Cup follows many of the same rules as the AEW Continental Classic and matches contested under AEW Continental Rules – Namely, there is no outside interference.


As mentioned above, 16 wrestlers compete in 8 blind-draw first-round matches. The 8 winners then compete in 4 blind-draw quarterfinal matches. The 4 winners move on to the Semifinals at AEW Dynamite from Glasgow, Scotland on Wednesday, August 26, the final Dynamite before AEW All In: London. The Cup Final takes place at AEW All In: London at Wembley Stadium. The winner will receive the Continental Cup and will be the new AEW Continental Champion!
