AEW Dynamite and Collision Recap Tonight for Boston
Bobby Lashley def. Ricochet for the No. 1 Spot in the Full Gear Casino Gauntlet
Shelton Benjamin def “Speedball” Mike Bailey for the No. 2 Spot in the Full Gear Casino Gauntlet
Non-Title Match: AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page def. Katsuyori Shibata
Undisputed ROH Women’s World TV Championship Match: Mercedes Moné def. Red Velvet
Bobby Lashley def. Ricochet for the #1 Spot in the Full Gear Casino Gauntlet
The night began with one of many matches attached to big-time stakes, as Bobby Lashley faced Ricochet to determine the #1 spot in the Full Gear Casino Gauntlet this Saturday night!
For some reason, Ricochet asked for a microphone and decided to talk up the Philadelphia Eagles, run down local sports teams, give a shoutout to his wife then turn his attention to insulting MVP before promising he would become the inaugural AEW National Champion.
Lashley finally had enough, so he chucked Ricochet by the throat to the outside onto Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona! Lashley followed to the outside with a pounce to Ricochet, a clothesline to Kaun, and then he bounced Liona over the railing into the timekeeper’s area!
Back in the ring, Ricochet nearly stole one when Lashley missed a charge in the corner and got rolled up with Ricochet’s feet on the ropes, but there was a kickout. Ricochet didn’t let up with three different leg strikes before a running shooting star press, followed by a second rope moonsault, but Lashley kicked out at two.
Ricochet went back to the ropes, so Lashley rolled out of the way, and Ricochet rolled through. Ricochet used the referee to shield himself from Lashley and raked Lashley’s eyes. With Lashley temporarily blinded, Ricochet went for the Spirit Gun, only for Lashley to catch him on one knee! He spiked Ricochet with a chokeslam and followed with the spear to get the win. Bobby Lashley will enter the Full Gear Casino Gauntlet Match to crown the inaugural AEW National Champion at #1!
Samoa Joe Sends Katsuyori Shibata After Hangman Page
Samoa Joe was backstage with Katsuyori Shibata, as the man who will challenge "Hangman" Adam Page for the AEW World Championship inside of a steel cage at Full Gear this Saturday spoke in his level, menacing tone.
“Ya know, it must feel good, right? World Champion, a fighting World Champion no less, tearing through the competition with reckless abandon. And judging by the edict I got when I walked through this door, that if I got involved in this match tonight, I would forfeit my championship opportunity, it seems a champion with a company firmly behind him, also. But you know what my only solace is, Hangman? Allow me to explain what it is. It’s that your whole world, this world of joy and happiness, is about to get very, very different, very, very quickly. You see, my friend, you are guilty of crimes and transgressions against The Opps. And your punishment begins tonight. And it stands in the form of this man right here, Katsuyori Shibata. Deadly by design, violent through intention, and firmly dedicated to exacting revenge for our brother, Will Hobbs. You see, Hangman, Shibata begins your payment, and come Full Gear, I will collect in full. Tell him, Shibata.”
Shibata made a short, clear threat in Japanese – no cell phone translation this time – to Page before their match later in the night.
Trios Match: Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) & Josh Alexander def. SkyFlight (Scoripio Sky, Dante Martin and Darius Martin)
Before the match, Renee Paquette caught up with Matt and Nick Jackson, who were watching a monitor showing some of their big moments from past Full Gear events, as she asked if they were joining the Don Callis Family. Callis butted in before they could answer to question her journalism and said the Bucks should be left alone because they have a match tonight. Callis said they’ll give their answer after the match and offered, or more insisted, that he do his “special” ring announcement for the Bucks, along with a bank-breaking amount of pyro. Callis then joined the commentary desk after Alexander’s entrance.
Nick Jackson and Dante Martin started things off, although neither man found any advantage after an exchange that went out of the ring and then back in before Alexander tagged in. Darius Martin tagged in on the other side, but Alexander ran through him with a shoulder tackle and then a snatch from the ground into a throw to the ground. Darius came back with a dropkick and brought Dante back in for some quick offense, leading to Scorpio Sky getting the tag and going to work on Alexander with some fancy triple team work.
Top Flight threw Nick into Sky, who tossed Nick over his head to the floor! Nick fended off Sky and Darius until Dante took him out with a dive. Matt came back with a pair of boots through the ropes to Dante, but was knocked to the outside when Sky nailed him with a baseball slide. Sky went for a dive, but Alexander low bridged him on the opposite side of the ring and hit a low-crossbody to Sky on the apron, which sent the former TNT Champion crashing to the floor!
Sky was in trouble for quite some time, and the Bucks looked primed for a double superkick until Alexander tagged himself in before they could hit anything. The miscommunication allowed Sky to mount a small comeback, which included Matt hitting Alexander by mistake. Alexander took Sky down with a big boot and then shoved Matt! Matt feigned a superkick ever so slightly, so Alexander ducked, but Sky rolled him up and nearly won it!. Sky finally tagged Darius, who knocked the Bucks off the apron and put Alexander down with a standing Spanish Fly and immediately followed with a dive to the Bucks on the floor. Darius got a nearfall on Alexander, who blasted Darius with a forearm right into a tag by Dante. Alexander got blasted by a kick to the back, so Top Flight put him on the second rope until he fought them off. They battled back to complete an unreal springboard-sliced-bread into a powerbomb! But the Bucks broke up the pin!
The Bucks took out all three members of SkyFlight and had Dante set up for the BTE Trigger, but he sprang off the ground with a flip and sent the Jacksons into each other! Dante hit a standing shooting star to avoid Nick and then flew to the outside with an incredible leap to take out both Bucks! Back in the ring, Dante nailed Alexander with a springboard crossbody for yet another two count! Even Callis was complimenting Dante’s skills!
Alexander rolled through Dante’s sunset flip to grab an ankle lock, but Dante rolled forward to send Alexander through the ropes. Matt missed Dante with a charge in the corner, but when Dante tried to launch himself onto Matt, Alexander shoved him off the ropes. The Jacksons were waiting to hit their trademark flipping piledriver on Dante. Instead, Alexander decided to put the ankle lock back on to get the submission victory rather than the pinfall, as the Bucks held off Sky and Darius somewhat begrudgingly.
After the match, Mark Davis, Hechicero and Rocky Romero joined Callis, Alexander and the Bucks in the ring. Callis said with the world watching and waiting, it was time for Matt and Nick Jackson to make the official announcement that they were joining the Don Callis Family. Callis reminded them how good things have been since they’ve been associated with him, so it was time to announce it to the people. The Bucks hesitated once again, so Callis reminded them that AEW is a dangerous place and without a family, bad stuff can happen.
“I would hate to see happen to you what happened to Kenny Omega.”
That caught the Bucks off guard, so Callis stopped, but KENNY OMEGA IS HERE!
Omega walked down the ramp with a chair in hand and motioned for the Family to attack him!
He took out Romero and Davis on the outside before diving into the ring to go right after Alexander! The Bucks stayed in the corner to watch until they pushed Omega away. Omega argued with them, so Alexander chopped Omega’s left knee from behind. Alexander put Omega in an ankle lock, and Omega screamed in pain until Callis told Alexander to let him go.
Callis said he had a better idea and went back to the Bucks for the announcement, but said they didn’t have to say they’re joining the Family; they could show him by giving Omega the BTE Trigger. Callis and Alexander each stomped on Omega’s damaged ankle. The crowd chanted “No!” as the Bucks slowly grabbed Omega’s arms, but they stopped when Jurassic Express hit the ring! Luchasaurus had a vacuum cleaner, and “Jungle” Jack Perry had a snow shovel to send the Bucks and the Callis Family scurrying to the outside.
The Babes of Wrath Look Ahead to Sisters of Sin
Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron joined Renee Paquette to talk about their opponents in the semifinals of the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Tournament, Skye Blue and Julia Hart, who they also battled last week in Blood & Guts.
Nightingale noted that it was she and Blue who were the first two in the match, so she threw Blue into the cage and made her bleed, but Blue kept smiling. Nightingale said she’d have to do more of that, and then she and Cameron would be smiling after the semifinals. Cameron said they might like what they do, but what they do do is take on the best that AEW has to offer, just like they did when they beat Mercedes Moné and Athena last week. Cameron said they’ll be the first AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions!
The two closed things out with their battle cry: “Who are we? Babes! What do we have? Wrath! Babes of Wrath! Babes of Wrath! Babes of Wrath!”
Tony Schiavone Pays Tribute to the Late Bob Caudle
Earlier this week, legendary announcer Bob Caudle passed away at 95. Schiavone paid tribute to Caudle as one of the great voices synonymous with professional wrestling and an even better man. As Schiavone said, we will all miss Bob Caudle, and our best wishes go out to his family and friends.
Shelton Benjamin def “Speedball” Mike Bailey for the #2 Spot in the Full Gear Casino Gauntlet
MVP joined the announce desk for this matchup, which Bailey started with a handshake that Benjamin accepted. The crowd was clearly split, as Benjamin tried to control with power, while Bailey went to his kicks. The match quickly spilled to the outside, where Bailey sent Benjamin into the ringpost twice and then focused on Benjamin’s left arm. Benjamin escaped by slamming Bailey back and forth between the guardrail and apron. Benjamin took his time throwing Bailey back in the ring, so Bailey nearly bridged Benjamin into a pin. Bailey rolled into a La Magistral for another pin attempt then went back to an armbar. Benjamin quickly escaped and then ate a boot from Bailey that sent him to the floor. Bailey followed with a dive that Benjamin caught and turned into a body slam on the floor!
Back in the ring, Benjamin continued to grind down Bailey until Speedball fought back with a defensive dropkick from the second rope. He continued with a three-kick combo and landed a running shooting star for a one count! Bailey went back to the kicks until Benjamin caught one, so Bailey once again tried for an armbar. Benjamin hoisted Bailey from the ground all the way over the top rope, sending both men sprawling to the floor. The two fought to get back into the ring, so Benjamin brought Bailey up the aisle and went for a powerbomb, only for Bailey to reverse it and send Benjamin into the guardrail. Speedball quickly DDTed Benjamin on the floor and returned to the ring as the referee continued his count. Benjamin got up at 7 and beat the count but ran right into a waiting kick from Bailey. Speedball crushed Benjamin with a shooting star press, but somehow Benjamin got his shoulder up before the three.
Bailey kicked a downed Benjamin in the chest, so Benjamin sat back up. Bailey did it again and followed with the backflip knees onto Benjamin’s chest, yet it still wasn’t enough for a three-count. Bailey returned to the armbar, but once again Benjamin powered out. Benjamin missed a charge in the corner, so Bailey rolled him up for another two-count. When Bailey got up, Benjamin nearly took his head off with a thrust kick that sent shockwaves throughout the Agganis Arena!
Benjamin covered Bailey and thought he got a three count, although the referee insisted Bailey’s shoulder wasn’t completely on the mat on the final count. Even MVP made his way into the ring, thinking the match was over, but it continued. Benjamin snatched Bailey with a German suplex, followed by a running knee in the corner and a final thrust kick to get the pinfall victory. Shelton Benjamin will enter the Full Gear Casino Gauntlet at #2, which means Benjamin will begin the match against Bobby Lashley!
Tag Team Match: Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley of the Death Riders def. Roderick Strong and Orange Cassidy
As Bryan Danielson pointed out on commentary, it was Marina Shafir who helped win the Women’s Blood & Guts Match for her team with a submission on Mina Shirakawa. At the same time, Moxley tapped out to Kyle O’Reilly to lose the Men’s Blood & Guts for the Death Riders. Cassidy shocked Moxley by attacking him at the bell, sending them both to the floor. At the same time, Strong and Castagnoli fought in the ring. Strong came out to help Cassidy, but Castagnoli soon followed, and Strong was subsequently isolated in the ring by Moxley and Castagnoli. Cassidy came back in with his hands in his pockets, but was immediately shut down and sent to the outside.
Strong chopped away at Castagnoli until Moxley clipped his knee. Moxley tagged back in and blasted Strong with a clothesline out of the corner, as the crowd reminded Mox that he tapped out in Blood & Guts. Cassidy came back in again, but this time he connected with a tornado DDT on Moxley. Castagnoli tried to throw OC to the outside, but he hung on the ropes to stay on the apron. Cassidy made a tag to Strong and came off the top into the waiting arms of Castagnoli, only to reverse it into a Stundog Millionaire.
Cassidy tried a dive to the outside on Castagnoli, but again, he was caught and thrown into the guardrail. Strong immediately sent Castagnoli into the front row, so Moxley booted him over the rail to follow, and Cassidy followed Moxley with a shot of his own. All four men were fighting in the crowd, which seemed like a continuation of Blood & Guts. Cassidy had his hands back in his pockets for a dive onto Moxley and Castagoli, as the fight continued up the stairs until eventually returning to the ringside area.
Moxley locked Cassidy in a full Nelson and released it to bring Castagnoli back in, as Cassidy was brutalized in the wrong corner. Cassidy reversed a giant swing into a near-fall, but Castagnoli came back with an uppercut and an abbreviated swing. Cassidy fought out of the wrong corner with a diving DDT to Castagnoli. Moxley and Strong both tagged in, with Strong opening up on both Death Riders. Strong battered Moxley from both sides and turned a Tiger Driver near-fall into the Strong Hold. Daniel Garcia got involved to break the hold, which allowed Mox to hit the Paradigm Shift on Strong, but Cassidy was there to break it up.
Castagnoli deadlifted Cassidy from the ground and tossed him to the floor. Meanwhile, Moxley made a rare trip to the top while Castagnoli held Strong for the Doomsday Device, but Strong got out and pushed Castagnoli into the corner and into Moxley! Castangoli fell backward into a fireman’s carry slam from Strong, who went to the top and delivered a superplex to Moxley. Cassidy tagged in and ran across the ring to Orange Punch Garcia off the apron. Moxley went for a Paradigm Shift, but Cassidy escaped and nailed Mox with an Orange Punch. Wheeler Yuta got on the apron, which made Cassidy take chase to the outside. Yuta dove into the ring, but when Cassidy followed, he was launched into a pop-up uppercut from Castagnoli with the ref distracted, which Moxley quickly followed with the bulldog choke on the already knocked out Cassidy for the win.
Before the Death Riders could do any post-match damage, Kyle O’Reilly ran out and immediately picked the ankle of Moxley, sliding under Castagnoli, as everyone else spilled from the ring. O’Reilly refused to let go of the ankle lock, even as Garcia and Yuta kicked at him, although eventually they broke it. But Strong and Cassidy hit the ring to send Garcia and Yuta to the floor, as O’Reilly put the ankle lock back on Moxley! The Death Riders finally pulled Moxley from the ring, as he screamed in pain and collapsed under the weight of his damaged ankle.
O’Reilly grabbed the mic and screamed, “I wanna fight you, Jon! I wanna fight you at Full Gear, Jon! And since you’ve given me a taste for blood, I want no holds barred! And just like Blood & Guts, the history books will say you tapped out!”
The crowd reminded Moxley of that as he limped through the crowd with the rest of the Death Riders.
Brodido Are Coming for FTR at Full Gear
The AEW World Tag Team Champions, Brody King and Bandido, were backstage to address FTR’s recent attacks on legends and family. King said they won’t take anything away from FTR because they are one of the best, but they haven’t proven they can beat Brodido. King said FTR would leave Full Gear empty-handed, as Bandido said that Brodido will never stop fighting.
Mercedes Moné was making her way through the back, all smiles as she prepared for her ROH World TV Title Unification Match with Red Velvet later tonight.
It’s Personal for Kenny Omega at Full Gear
Omega and Jurassic Express addressed the Don Callis Family and the Young Bucks after what went down earlier tonight. Omega reminded Callis that he bought the best talent money could buy when Omega went down to create a Family, and now the Bucks are proving that money can buy friendship. And Josh Alexander made it personal when he attacked Kota Ibushi and Michael Nakazawa, so this Saturday, no amount of money will save Alexander and Callis from what Omega, Perry and Luchasaurus will do to them.
AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarterfinal: Timeless Love Bombs (“Timeless” Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa) def. Alex Windsor & Riho
Timeless Love Bombs came out with a brand new theme and synchronized entrance, although neither Storm nor Shirakawa could be 100 percent after going through Blood & Guts last week. Shirakawa and Riho started things off for their respective teams. Both women bridged out of each other’s pin attempts in their own unique ways. Storm and Windsor tagged in and teased a test of strength before finally clasping hands until Windsor rolled through to break it. Storm and Windsor traded armdrags until Windsor caught Storm in the throat. Riho tagged back in, so Windsor used her as a weapon to kick Shirakawa and Storm. Riho jumped off Windsor’s back for a flying kick that got a two count. Storm fought back with a backbreaker and tagged Shirakawa. They double-teamed Riho, and Shirakawa got a nearfall with a tornillo.
Riho and Windsor got back in control with a double suplex on Storm, followed by Windsor aiding Riho with a dive to the outside onto Timeless Love Bombs! Shirakawa found herself in the wrong corner until she wrenched the knees of Windsor and DDTed Riho in one fell swoop. Storm tagged back in and she fired up on Windsor with three snapmares and a DDT for a two count. Storm dropped Shirakawa on Windsor with an assisted tornillo for a two count. Windsor was in trouble until she spun Shirakawa into a blue thunder bomb for a near-fall.
Riho came back in to lay out Shirakawa with an impressive combo, but Shirakawa kicked out. Windsor hit Storm with a cannonball from the apron, so Riho went to the top for a stomp on Shirakawa, but Mina moved and nailed a spinning backfist. She followed with a figure four, but Riho reversed the pressure, so Storm ran in to reverse it back. Windsor came in the ring to turn it back, so Storm came back in for another reversal, but Windsor cut her off, and the two took each other out with headbutts, landing on Riho and Mina to break the hold.
Shirakawa and Riho battled back to their feet, so Riho hit a German suplex for a two count. Shirakawa came back with a spinning backfist to get a nearfall of her own. Storm and Windsor both tagged in, with Windsor powering Storm down quickly to go for a sharpshooter, but Storm was ready for it and kicked away. Shirakawa nailed a roundhouse kick on Windsor, who Storm pulled into a release German suplex. Shirakawa held Riho for Storm, who big booted Riho into a German suplex from Mina. Timeless Love Bombs hit stereo hip attacks, and Storm finished Windsor off with Storm Zero to advance to the semifinals! They’ll await the winner of TayJay vs. Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne later tonight.
We heard breaking news from Renee Paquette that, per Tony Khan, the four semifinal teams would meet this Saturday at Full Gear in a four-corners tag team match. The winners of that match will choose the stipulation for their semifinal match.
Kyle Fletcher and Mark Briscoe Meet Before Full Gear
Alicia Atout was with TNT Champion “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher, Don Callis and Fletcher’s opponent for Full Gear, Mark Briscoe. While she thanked the men for agreeing to no physicality, she asked both men why they agreed to a match with such high stakes, as it would be a no disqualification match for the TNT Title, where if Briscoe loses, he joins the Don Callis Family.
Fletcher spoke first and was confident because he’s beaten Briscoe in three of their five matches, and when he wins on Saturday, he’ll break the record for most defenses of the TNT Championship. He’s happy about it being no disqualification because there can be no excuses, and he’s looking forward to Briscoe thriving in a real family. Briscoe immediately jumped in and reminded Fletcher that he fights for his family at home and the one on the road in the Conglomeration. He won’t be leaving his family, and instead, he’ll be making them proud.
Just then, Kazuchika Okada and Hechicero attacked Briscoe! They held Briscoe up for Callis, who said, “You’re gonna make your family proud? I’m gonna make your kids orphans.”
Fletcher said to Okada, “Thank you for not agreeing to no physicality.”
As Fletcher shook Okada’s hand, the AEW Unified Champion said, “I’m glad I could help because Takeshita couldn’t! PROTOKADA!”
Fletcher took a moment to soak that in.
PAC Lets Darby Allin Know What’s Coming at Full Gear
“Darby, Darby, Darby Allin. I have been doing a lot of soul-searching this week, and I believe I owe you a sincere apology. You see, leading up to Blood & Guts, I promised I would break your neck. In reality, that didn’t happen. I sent your charred corpse to the burn unit instead. Or maybe I did both. The fact of the matter is, no one has seen or heard from you since, so who’s to say?”
“And I get it, Darby,” PAC continued. “You’re probably intimidated. You’re certainly scared. At Blood & Guts, maybe I did take things a little too far. So Darby, the boy who never quits, if you still have a backbone, do me a favor and answer my question. And don’t worry, I am challenging you to a legitimate competition. No weapons. No cattle prods. No tasers. No fire. Just me and you, because the truth is when you are stripped of all your bells and whistles, there is no way, on Planet Earth, that someone like yourself can compete at the level of a legitimate athlete like me.”
Non-Title Match: AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page def. Katsuyori Shibata
Samoa Joe joined the commentary desk and intimidated Tony Schiavone, but told Bryan Danielson he wouldn’t do anything to Schiavone while at the desk. Shibata entered alone after Joe, but as he approached the ring, Page came from out of nowhere to attack!
Page threw Shibata around the ringside guardrails while Joe was unable to do anything because of the mandate that he not get involved while on commentary. Page threw Shibata in the ring, but he gave too much time for Shibata to recover, so Shibata nailed him with a big boot to the outside. Now it was Shibata who sent Page around the ringside area before setting him up on a chair. Shibata went for a running boot, but Page escaped and took down Shibata.
They returned to the ring and exchanged big shots until Page put down Shibata with a backbreaker and a lariat that got a two count. Page walked over to the ropes and started jawing with Joe, which gave Shibata the opening to attack him from behind. Shibata followed with a trio of suplexes on the floor, as Joe clapped in approval.
Back in the ring, Page fired up to turn an exchange of chops into a fallaway slam. Page hit a springboard lariat to knock Shibata off the apron and followed with a plancha, as Joe continued to taunt Page from the desk. They returned to the ring, where Shibata took Page down with a heel trip, and had his PK attempt get caught by Page. Shibata turned it around to hit a big boot in the corner and feigned a running kick, but stopped and kicked the turnbuckle pad and inside of Page’s leg, which was dangerously close to a low blow.
Page avoided a low drop kick and missed a Buckshot Lariat out of the corner. Shibata went for a German suplex, but Page blocked it, and the referee nearly got hit by it. When he ducked, Shibata hit a low blow on Page and locked in a cross armbreaker. Page got his boot on the ropes to break the hold, but Shibata went to an ankle lock, and Page crawled to the ropes and escaped when he slipped out of his own boot! Page leveled Shibata with a clothesline and caught his boot, so he put it back on and hit a Buckshot Lariat to get the 1-2-3 on Shibata!
After the match, Page got a mic and spoke to Joe. “Joe, I want you to look around you. Look around you! Although you may be surrounded by thousands of crazy-ass fans tonight. And though you may be at the commentary desk with the rest of commentary, all but a poncho on your head, Joe. You are now alone. And when you walk into a steel cage with me at Full Gear, I want you to remember this. I want you to remember that you don’t have Will Hobbs because I sent him to the hospital. I want you to remember that you don’t have Shibata because I sent him to a hospital. Joe, I want you to remember what I did the last time I was locked inside a steel cage with another man. Because if I have to do it Saturday, I swear to god, I will do it again.”
FTR and Stokely Respond to Brodido
Earlier tonight, we got these comments from Stokely: “11 years ago, FTR was formed. And nine years ago, they had a classic that was talked about for days, for weeks, for months. And Brodido, I have a question for you, do you think anything you’ve done will be remembered in nine years? I don’t think so.”
Cash Wheeler continued, “So, Brody, Bandido, I want you guys to relax tonight. I want you guys to enjoy tonight because there’s no games. We’re not gonna lock you in any rooms. Your grandmommy is safe. Dick the Dragon Steamboat is safe. You guys enjoy tonight because Saturday, we’re gonna take those belts from you. You might be the feel-good story of the year, but on Saturday, we close the book.”
Finally, Dax Harwood spoke, “Nine years ago, we did have a classic tag team match, but since then, we’ve had six, seven, eight other matches considered the greatest tag match of all time. We’ve also been 10-time tag team champions across seven promotions, so why is Saturday night so important? Why is Full Gear so important? This reign is what we hang our hats on. This is what we live our legacy by. This is the foundation of one era of professional wrestling. Unfortunately, for you, Brodido, you’re the ones in the way. Saturday night. Full Gear. Three-Time AEW Tag Team Champions. And we will go down as the best tag team of all time. Bandido, have abuela come say hello. Top Guys, out.”
AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarterfinal: “The Megasus” Megan Bayne & “The Problem” Marina Shafir def. TayJay (Tay Melo and Anna Jay)
Melo and Shafir began things with an exchange of judo throws and stiff shots until Jay tagged in, but Bayne came in and wound up on the outside. The four women fought on the floor until TayJay hit stereo dives from the guardrails to take out Shafir and Bayne. Back in the ring, Bayne tagged in and ran through TayJay with a clothesline.
TayJay fought back and attacked Bayne and Shafir with running shots in the corner, and they were in control! Both Jay and Melo locked in guillotines, but Bayne and Shafir powered out. However, Shafir was knocked to the floor, so Bayne had to fight both members of TayJay and found herself in trouble when Jay locked on the Queen’s Slayer. Bayne backed into her corner, so Shafir tagged in and broke the hold with a back rack before locking in the Mother’s Milk on Jay for the submission victory, accentuated by a few kisses on Jay’s head.
Bayne and Shafir move on to the semifinals, where they’ll meet the Timeless Love Bombs, who addressed their future opponents from the back!
Storm said they were lucky to get Shafir and Bayne, and when they win the Four Corners Match at Full Gear, it could be a chicken coop match, apartment wrestling, or, as Shirakawa suggested, a Taipei Death Match. Storm liked that idea and said, “But I promise you this, Jon Moxley! When you see what we do to your little women, you will piss yourself with blood!”
Next, before she faces Mercedes Moné at Full Gear, we took a special look at AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander.
Double Jeopardy Match: AEW Unified Champion “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada def. CMLL World Trios Champion Máscara Dorada
The winner of this match would earn a future title shot: Either Okada would earn a CMLL World Trios Title match for the Don Callis Family or Dorada would win a future AEW Unified Championship match.
Okada stalled on the outside in the opening minutes in an effort to slow things down and frustrate Dorada, which worked until Dorada turned the pace back up and nailed Okada with a dive on the outside. Dorada went to the top, but Okada knocked him to the floor with a dropkick. Dorada turned things around with a kick to Okada on the apron and nailed a sloppy diving DDT on the apron, which showed the damage Dorada had already taken in this match. Still, Dorada kept the offense up with a headscissors followed by a tornillo over the top to Okada on the outside.
Dorada whipped Okada into the guardrail and followed with a diving cutter over the rail. He came back into the ringside area with a hurricanrana and sent Okada back into the ring. Dorada missed on a 450 from the top with a crash and burn landing. Okada came back with a neckbreaker and a bodyslam to set up an elbow drop from the top. Okada posed and went for the Rainmaker, but Dorada escaped, only to get floored by Okada’s perfect dropkick. Okada went for another Rainmaker, but Dorada turned it into a near-fall. Dorada put Okada on the top rope and nailed a kick to the head before dropping Okada onto the mat to set up a successful 450 splash, but Okada kicked out!
The two fought on the top rope, as Okada reversed a top-rope hurricanrana into a nasty powerbomb! He picked Dorada up for another Rainmaker attempt, but that was reversed into a small cradle for a near-fall! Okada nailed another dropkick and hit Konosuke Takeshita’s Raging Fire, followed by a Rainmaker to get the pinfall win. That earned the Don Callis Family a shot at the CMLL World Trios Champions, Dorada, Neon and Místico of Sky Team.
Callis said they are taking that shot on Saturday at AEW Tailgate Brawl when Okada, Hechicero, and the returning IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Konosuke Takeshita, team together against Sky Team! Okada didn’t seem pleased by the news.
Sisters of Sin Can Get Sicker
Renee Paquette was with Skye Blue and Julia Hart, Sisters of Sin, to get their thoughts on the Four Corners Match at Full Gear. Blue and Hart explained the sins committed until Thekla arrived, promising they could get even sicker than what we saw at Blood & Guts!
Undisputed ROH Women’s World TV Championship Match: Mercedes Moné def. Red Velvet
AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander was on commentary for a front row seat to watch Moné before they face off for Statlander’s championship at Full Gear.
Moné toyed with Velvet early on but got too cocky, so Velvet was able to turn it around. On the outside, Moné got back in control and threw Velvet into Statlander. Statlander chased Moné back to the ring, where Velvet tossed the ROH Women’s World TV Title to Moné and pretended like she got knocked out. The referee turned around and saw this, so Velvet rolled up Moné for a two count and then nailed her with a roundhouse kick for another near-fall.
Moné turned things back around and started toying with Velvet again until Velvet found a second wind. She crushed Moné across the ropes for a two count but took too long to attack again and got caught in the Statement Maker. However, Velvet was able to escape into a La Magistral for a near-fall and turned that into a bicep submission. Moné got out with a rollup, but missed a Meteora in the corner, and Velvet followed with a kick and a release German suplex for another nearfall. Velvet trapped Moné in a full-body armbar, only for it to be reversed into a lungblower for a two count. The two fought on the top rope until Velvet used a body scissors to launch Moné to the mat for another near-fall. What a match!
They wound up back on the top turnbuckle, where Moné turned the momentum into a top-rope lungblower to earn a very hard-fought pinfall win. Mercedes Moné is now the undisputed ROH Women’s World TV Champion!
Moné celebrated on the announce desk after the match and launched onto Statlander with a Meteora before locking in a Statement Maker! Moné celebrated with the AEW Women’s World Title to end the night!
