AEW Dynamite Preview

Tonight, AEW Dynamite will be LIVE from Asheville, North Carolina, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on TBS and streaming on HBO Max, just 11 days before AEW Double or Nothing in New York next weekend. And you better believe the AEW World Championship will be on the line once again tonight!

After surviving PAC and a balcony fall through tables in a unique AEW World Title match at AEW Collision: Fairway to Hell this past Saturday, Darby Allin's relentless reign continues when he defends against "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita of the Don Callis Family. And how will MJF respond to Allin’s offer of AEW World Title vs. MJF’s hair at Double or Nothing? He’ll speak live tonight.

Will Ospreay makes his in-ring return to Dynamite after getting clearance over the weekend, but he’ll get a big test from Bang Bang Gang’s Ace Austin, in what should be an interesting exhibition of what Ospreay has taken from his training with the Death Riders.

A massive 10-man tag war pits the Young Bucks, AEW World Trios Champion Orange Cassidy, Christian Cage and Adam Copeland against AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR, “Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa and The Dogs, with plenty of issues to fight over in these intersection rivalries.

Plus, both the men’s and women’s brackets for the 2026 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament will be revealed. And “The Jet” Kevin Knight will defend the TNT Championship in an open challenge!

Here's everything you need to know for tonight’s AEW Dynamite LIVE on TBS and HBO Max!

AEW Dynamite Matches, Preview for Asheville

AEW World Championship Match: Darby Allin (c) vs. “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita of the Don Callis Family

On Saturday at Fairway to Hell, Darby Allin survived PAC, the Death Riders, four tables and a bunker brawl to keep the AEW World Championship. But there’s no rest for Allin, with another AEW World Title defense coming tonight on Dynamite. However, Don Callis threw a wrench into things when he announced that AEW International Champion “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada, who issued a challenge to Allin last week, was called away on family business in Japan. Instead, Callis named “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita as Okada’s replacement! The very same Takeshita who will face Okada for the International Championship at Double or Nothing!

Takeshita beat Allin in their lone singles encounter back on the first Dynamite of 2024. Meanwhile, Allin's win over PAC was his fourth AEW World Championship defense since winning the title from MJF on April 15, having also defended against Tommaso Ciampa, Brody King and TNT Champion “The Jet” Kevin Knight (on last week’s Dynamite).

Putting these two electric athletes opposite each other is reason enough to get fired up, but with the stakes this high, who knows what Allin and Takeshita will do to each other to walk out of Asheville as the AEW World Champion?

Will Ospreay vs. Bang Bang Gang’s Ace Austin

Will Ospreay is back in action tonight in Asheville! Renee Paquette broke the news at Fairway to Hell that Ospreay was cleared by AEW medical to wrestle on Dynamite for the first time since he lost via doctor’s stoppage to Mark Davis three weeks ago. Tonight, Ospreay will step back in the ring against the innovative and impactful style of Ace Austin.

Austin closed out last week’s special AEW Dynamite and Collision by earning the pinfall for Bang Bang Gang and the Young Bucks over The Dogs and Death Riders in a chaotic 10-man tag team main event. But what type of Ospreay will we see after weeks of training alongside the Death Riders?

10-Man Tag Team Match: AEW World Trios Champion Orange Cassidy, Adam Copeland, Christian Cage & Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs. AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood), “Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa & The Dogs (Clark Connors & David Finlay)

While Cage and Cope and AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR remain on a collision course for their "I Quit" Street Fight at Double or Nothing, others have been pulled into this orbit, including AEW World Trios Champions The Conglomeration. Last week’s Double Jeopardy match saw Orange Cassidy beat Dax Harwood to earn a future AEW World Tag Team Title shot, but if you didn’t know any better, you’d think it was a lumberjack match with the amount of backup both men had on the outside. To no one’s surprise, a brawl ensued after the match, and so we’re in for yet another 10-man tag team showdown tonight on Dynamite!

We'll Hear From MJF!

After Darby Allin retained his AEW World Title against TNT Champion “The Jet” Kevin Knight last Wednesday, MJF came out, demanding his rematch. Allin said no and reminded MJF that if he wanted a shot at the AEW World Title, he had to put something up – and Allin suggested MJF’s hair. After Allin informed MJF that a contract for the match would be waiting for him on tonight’s Dynamite, MJF left without saying a word. He spent the last week complaining on social media about the many, many, many photoshops of him completely bald.

How will MJF respond? We’ll find out tonight!

Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Brackets Revealed!

The 2026 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament brackets for both the men's and women's sides will be revealed live on Dynamite! The annual tournament has produced some of AEW's most competitive matches and hard-fought moments since it began in 2021 as a tribute to and celebration of one of the most gifted and beloved wrestlers, Owen Hart. Who will be part of the prestigious field this year?

“The Jet” Kevin Knight TNT Championship Open Challenge

Knight had the fight of his life last week on Dynamite when he took AEW World Champion Darby Allin to the limit in an instant classic. And while he may not have walked away as Jet2Belts, he certainly left a lasting impression that he has what it takes to hold the AEW World Title in the future. Tonight, he’ll be refocused on the TNT Championship when he defends it for the fourth time in an open challenge! Who will try to fly with “The Jet” in Asheville?

Trios Match: Triangle of Madness (AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla, Skye Blue and Julia Hart) vs. The Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor) & Hikaru Shida

During Saturday’s Fairway to Hell, we found out Thekla will defend her AEW Women’s World Championship in 11 days at Double or Nothing in a 4-Way with Kris Statlander, Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida. Before Thekla faces three former AEW Women’s World Champions at Double or Nothing, she’ll have to navigate facing two of those challengers in this unpredictable Trios Match on Dynamite!
