AEW Rampage Preview for December 17, 2021

What a Wednesday night in Garland! For the first time since the AEW World Title's inception and through 18 previous title defenses, a championship match went to a 60 minute time limit draw! Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson threw absolutely everything they had at one another, the defending champion was bloody and battered, the challenger was beaten and bruised, and yet neither man was able to put the other away. Words cannot due justice to the battle that unfolded during DYNAMITE: WINTER IS COMING, but the video embedded above will give fans a tasted of just what took place.

In addition to that epic, MJF was able to keep possession of the Dynamite Diamond Ring for the third year in a row, Hikaru Shida took the “W” in her rubber match with Serena Deeb, Wardlow decimated Matt Sydal, and we've now got ourselves an amazing Trios Match for DYNAMITE: HOLIDAY BASH next Wednesday! But that's days away; this Friday night, when RAMPAGE takes to the airwaves, there are a pair of multi-man fights just waiting to explode and two women looking to settle their scores!

It all begins at 10pm EST/9pm CST on TNT, and at AEWPlus.com for our international fans, and before the Friday night action gets underway, visit the official AEW YouTube channel for highlights from DYNAMITE, in addition to the most recent editions of DARK: ELEVATION, AEW DARK, ROAD TO, and a special CONTROL CENTER edition!

TEN-MAN BATTLE...

Eddie Kingston, Ortiz, Santana, & AEW World Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix)

Vs.

2point0 (Jeff Parker & Matt Lee), Daniel Garcia, & The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster)

For the last several weeks, the aggression between Eddie Kingston, 2point0, and Daniel Garcia has been ramping up. Really it could be traced back to August and September when the fracas also included Jon Moxley and Darby Allin, but perhaps the Parker/Lee/Garcia trio thought that now, with Moxley, away from AEW for the time being, was a good time to once more poke the bear with Eddie Kingston.

From just blatant disrespect in catering to assault, the 2pointTrio has once more raised the ire of “The Mad King” and in the process brought him some old-new allies. While the fact Chris Jericho assisted Eddie was a total surprise, the retaliation from Parker, Garcia, and Lee to “Le Champion” was not, and given their history, the assistance from Ortiz and Santana should not have been a surprise either.

The ties that bind there run deep, as do the connections between The Lucha Brothers and their partners for RAMPAGE, and not all of it has been pretty. The dynamic between Eddie, Penta, and Fenix grew quite ugly last year and at times seemed like it would actually drive a wedge between brothers, but time can actually heal wounds, and Kingston has made peace with the AEW World Tag Team Champions; a peace achieved through violence perpetrated upon others but a peace nonetheless.

So with four allies at his side, Kingston issued the above challenge to the 2pointTrio to find some partners to meet his crew in a ten man tag, and it looks like Parker, Lee, and Garcia have tagged The Acclaimed as their partners for Friday night! With all the pent-up hostility between these individuals, this is going to be a wild fight and a rough night for whichever official pulls this match. To paraphrase Mark Henry, there's been enough talk, it's time for a fight!

EIGHT MAN TAG TEAM BOUT...

“The Infamous” Bobby Fish & The Super Elite (Adam Cole, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson)

vs.

Orange Cassidy, Rocky Romero, & The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent)

Last week, Trent made his surprising return to All Elite Wrestling after many months on the shelf recovering from injury. Unfortunately the triumphant feeling of that moment would prove short-lived as, following Adam Cole's victory over Wheeler Yuta on RAMPAGE, The SuperKliq and Bobby Fish left many bodies in their wake, including that of Trent.

But it seems that devastation was not enough for the Elite crew as this Friday night on RAMPAGE, they aim to not only finish, but also have threatened Sue and the van. It's a bit ridiculous, way over the line in fact, to threaten Sue with her own personal Sue-perkick Party but habitual line-stepping is nothing new when it comes to dealing with The Elite, nor is making things far more personal than they need to be.

It has always been the ego, the arrogance, of The Young Bucks that have left them with little fear of the repercussions for their actions, especially in the last year since realigning their perceptions with those of Kenny Omega and Don Callis. The addition of Adam Cole to the unit, plus the support of Bobby Fish acquired by the reunion with Cole, have only amplified the level of ego. They feed off each other, build each other up, and convince one another that they are untouchable.

This Friday night, the CHAOS contingent aims to show The Elite quartet that no one is untouchable, not even them, and that no one gets away with threatening the van or Sue. Actions have consequences; on RAMPAGE, it may be time for The SuperKliq and “The Infamous” to experience them!

SUBMISSION MATCH...

Penelope Ford vs. Tay Conti

Tay Conti, Anna Jay, Penelope Ford, and The Bunny have been attached at the hip for months now. Ever since Anna returned to action from injury, the four women have battle it out in singles matches, tag team bouts, and trios action. Regardless of the outcome, the brass knuckles wielded by The Bunny have often played a part in the bout either during the battle, after the fact, or even in the locker room area.

As seen in the video package embedded above, Tay Conti is sick of it all and has challenged Penelope Ford to a submission match! “The SuperBad Girl” has accepted the challenge, perhaps to her own regret, because given the nature of Conti's fighting background, it may not be the wisest decision for Penelope to face Tay on those grounds.

As with the other matches set for RAMPAGE, this one is about settling scores and taking on grudges, but this time someone is going to have to submit to get the job done!

DAN LAMBERT IS BACK!

The Men of The Year, Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky, promised that Dan Lambert would be back in AEW to address the wrongs they feel have been perpetrated against them by Cody Rhodes, Sammy Guevara, and AEW GM Tony Khan. They feel that “The American Nightmare” is jumping the line, using his executive privilege, or perhaps his status as a former two-time TNT Champion to get a shot at “The Spanish God”.

This Friday night, American Top Team Founder Dan Lambert will be in the house at the Curtis Culwell Center and given the things that have come out of his mouth in the past, one can only imagine what Chris Jericho's least favorite human will have to say on Friday night!

RAMPAGE kicks off at 10pm EST/9pm CST on TNT, and at AEWPlus.com for our international audiences, and you can prepare for it all by heading over to the official AEW YouTube channel for highlights from DYNAMITE, the latest episodes of DARK: ELEVATION, AEW DARK, ROAD TO, as well as a new edition of the AEW CONTROL CENTER with Tony Schiavone!
