AEW Rampage Preview For February 3, 2023

Wednesday night on DYNAMITE, the AEW faithful witnessed the crowning of a new TNT Champion as well as the return of a former one looking to reclaim his title. Samoa Joe survived a brutal No Holds Barred war with Darby Allin to retake his throne as “The King of Television” only to have his celebrations ruined by the “The War Dog” coming back for the crown he lost at FULL GEAR 2022.

In addition, Hangman Page found himself trapped in pin predicament he couldn't escape by Jon Moxley, leading to the former AEW World Champion having words with the rest of The BCC, while TBS Champion Jade Cargill's undefeated streak remained intact as she scored her 50th consecutive victory, this time over Red Velvet. And in the aftermath of Bryan Danielson's war of attrition with Timothy Thatcher, MJF learned that he would have to face Konosuke Takeshita in an Eliminator Match when AEW comes to El Paso, TX next Wednesday!

The elite action is back this Friday night when RAMPAGE gets underway at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, as well as at AEWPlus.com for our international fans! The AEW World Trios Championship will be at stake when The Elite meet Ethan Page, Isiah Kassidy, and Matt Hardy in the opening contest of the night, Swerve Strickland takes on Brian Pillman Jr. in singles competition, Saraya and Toni Storm will be in tag team action, and in the main event, two former ROH World Champions will collide!

So before the night's events begin, be sure to visit the official AEW YouTube channel to catch up on the week's action with DYNAMITE highlights, as well as the latest episodes of AEW DARK: ELEVATION, AEW DARK, and the CONTROL CENTER with Tony Schiavone!

AEW WORLD TRIOS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...

The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson)(c) vs. Ethan Page, Isiah Kassidy, & Matt Hardy

The Elite may still be recovering from Escalera De La Muerte II against Death Triangle, but as the new AEW World Trios Champions, they are not about to turn away from a challenge. That's why this Friday on RAMPAGE, in the opening contest of the night, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks will put their championship titles on the line against Stokely Hathaway's contingent of Ethan Page, Isiah Kassidy, and Matt Hardy!

Page, Kassidy, and Hardy may not be the most cohesive trio in the AEW locker room, the latter two barely want to breath the same air as their third, but they've still found a bit of success together in their previous trios outings. Even if it's not a situation Matt Hardy or Isiah want to be in, they are aiming to make the best out of a bad situation, and avoid any unnecessary drama with Stokely and Ethan Page. That being said, it doesn't take much to raise the ire of “All Ego” when it comes to Hardy or Kassidy, and messing up this golden opportunity would absolutely be a trigger for Ethan and Stoke.

Have Matt, Kenny, and Nick sufficiently recovered from that dangerous Ladder Match to make their first championship defense? For that matter, have The Young Bucks mentally recovered from their loss to Top Flight the other week and gotten themselves back in the game? Friday night is going to be a test for both trios; will the defending champions see their second chance go up in smoke in their first defense or will Stokely's trio be disappointed in their first-ever bid for a championship here in All Elite Wrestling?

ONE-ON-ONE...

Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Swerve Strickland

Swerve Strickland, with his Mogul Associates at his side, has chosen to target individuals he feels are only in their spot because of nepotism. He unnecessarily came at “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes a few weeks ago, and this past Wednesday night on DYNAMITE, he called out Brian Pillman Jr. for this fight right here!

Swerve, Parker Boudreaux, and their tattooed associate strike quite the imposing visage, and Pillman is obviously fighting from underneath in this contest here. Can this second-generation athlete pull off the upset this Friday night on RAMPAGE, or will it be Swerve and his ilk who continue to run down anyone who offends their sensibilties?

TAG TEAM BOUT...

Saraya & Toni Storm in action!

Having united under a common disdain for the women who built All Elite Wrestling, the “homegrown” competitors like Dr. Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, Willow Nightingale, etc., Saraya and former AEW Women's World Champion Toni Storm aim to continue terrorizing the Women's Division this Friday night!

After assaulting Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D on Wednesday night, Saraya and Storm will in tag team competition on RAMPAGE, and no doubt be looking to send a message to the rest of the women in AEW via victory over whomever steps into the squared circle with them.

SINGLES BOUT...

“The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels vs. “El Toro Blanco” Rush

Both men are former Ring of Honor World Champions, in the case of “El Toro Blanco” Rush make that two times over, but at no point in their wrestling careers did they ever collide with one another...that is until this Friday night in the main event of RAMPAGE! With Rush heading for a collision with “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson next Wednesday night in El Paso, he is aiming to make “The Fallen Angel” an example of what Danielson has in-store. Fans know the kind of reckless violence Rush is capable of, and his propensity for using ringside cables as weapons against his foes, so what will he try to unleash on this founding father of ROH?

As for Christopher Daniels, his wrestling schedule in AEW has seen quite an uptick in 2023, fighting Brian Pillman Jr, Bandido, and even challenging Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship on the Jay Briscoe Tribute & Celebration of Life special. After nearly 30 years of competition, there is little Christopher Daniels hasn't experienced, and like fine wine, he's only improved with each passing year. But in order to survive the reckless onslaught that is “El Toro Blanco”, Daniels is going to have to dip into every bit of experience he has, as well as have eyes in the back of his head for Jose The Assistant and “El Perro Peligroso” Preston Vance.

RAMPAGE comes to the AEW faithful beginning at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, as well as at AEWPlus.com and will feature Trios action with the AEW World Trios Champions The Elite facing Ethan Page, Matt Hardy, and Isiah Kassidy!! Plus, two former ROH World Champions collide when “El Toro Blanco” Rush meets “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels, Swerve Strickland goes head-to-head with Ohio's own Brian Pillman Jr, and the duo of Saraya and Toni Storm will be in tag team action!

Prior to the start of RAMPAGE, be sure to visit the official AEW YouTube channel to prepare for the fights via DYNAMITE highlights, as well as watching the latest editions of AEW DARK: ELEVATION, AEW DARK, and ROAD TO..., as well as the CONTROL CENTER with Tony Schiavone!
