AEW Rampage: Quake By The Lake Preview for August 12, 2022

On Dynamite: Quake by the Lake fans were treated to a sublime AEW Interim World Title Match between Jon Moxley and “Lionheart” Chris Jericho that was testament to just how valued that championship is to a fighter. Both men gave it their all, with Moxley surviving an inhuman amount of punishment after several minutes trapped in the Walls of Jericho, but ultimately it was the defending champion who endured the punishment to retain the championship, and continue the march towards All Out 2022 on September 4th. And in the aftermath of the fight, as The Jericho Appreciation Society took advantage of the weakened Moxley which in turn became a massive brawl with The BCC and company, fans got a look at the match we may get to see in Chicago that night...

Whether or not Punk is cleared to compete was irrelevant in those minutes, just the energy in that moment was off the charts, and whenever “The Best In The World” does return to competition, if it's for a fight with Mox to unify the AEW World Title, it's going to be electric wherever it goes down! On top of that, Jade Cargill survived the fight of her young career to retain the TBS Title against Madison Rayne, FTR returned to the scene to assist Wardlow, and The Young Bucks extended an olive branch to Hangman Page regarding the Trios Title Tournament but that did not go as anticipated.

Come this Friday night on Rampage: Quake by the Lake, there's going to be some prep work for the Trios Title Tournament when Orange Cassidy and Ari Daivari clash in a preview of their teams' Quarter-Final matches. Plus TrustBuster Parker Boudreaux will be in action against Sonny Kiss after a rather interesting interaction on AEW Dark, Beardhausen makes their tag team debut against The Gunn Club, and “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson will kick off the night when Tony Schiavone speaks to Bryan ahead of his 2 Of 3 Falls Match with Daniel Garcia next week!

Jump into Rampage this Friday night starting at 10pm EDT/9pm CDT on TNT, and on AEWPlus.com for our international audience, and make sure to check out the official AEW YouTube channel, the AEW Twitter feed, and the official Facebook page to catch up on Dynamite highlights, and watch Dark: Elevation, AEW Dark, Road To, and the Control Center with Tony Schiavone.

THE DRAGON SPEAKS...

“The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson is a fighter, and with that comes the potential for both victory and defeat. No matter how good a wrestler may be, eventually that L comes your way, and whether to move past it or dwell in it becomes the decision one must make.

In the case of Daniel Garcia, Danielson tasted defeated several weeks ago and his Bryan's absence from TV, “Red Death” has added “Dragon Slayer” to his list of monikers, with aims of adding “Best Technical Sports Entertainer in the World” to his resume as well. For Bryan, there is no shame in losing, especially not to a wrestler like Garcia whom Bryan had expressed his desire to train with, to fight with, to mentor even before The Blackpool Combat Club had a name.

The shame, instead, should fall on Garcia who required the helping hand of Jake Hager to get the job done, and yet he brags as if it was an accomplishment achieved all on his own. That being said, in the annals of AEW, the record book shows Daniel Garcia defeated Bryan Danielson, but with a 2 Of 3 Falls Match now on the horizon for these competitors, what will that record book show after next Wednesday night? And what will Danielson have to say about the entire situation with Garcia, as well as his persistently questioned health status?

Tune into TNT this Friday night to hear “The American Dragon” speak it all into the world before he and Garcia test each other's limits next week on Dynamite!

AAA WORLD MIXED CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...

Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo(c) vs. Dante Martin & Skye Blue

At AAA's Triplemania XXX: Monterrey event on April 30th, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti became the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champions after winning a Four Way Contest in which, to be frank, Guevara did very little of the heavy lifting. Using the wear and tear of the TNT Title Ladder Match against Scorpio Sky as the excuse, Guevara and Tay used La Parka Negra to do the work, but “The Spanish God” got the pinfall and the credit, leaving he and his now-wife Tay Melo as the defending duo of these unique AAA championship titles.

Just the 17th team to hold the belts, Sammy and Tay are now carrying a legacy that dates back to 2003 when Electroshock and Lady Apache won a Four Way at Triplemania XI to become the original champions. While the title has been defended all around Mexico, as well as in Japan, and even held by Penta El Zero Miedo for 671 days, it has never been defended in the United States prior to this Friday night.

This match comes about as a result of Dante and Sammy's match at Fight for the Fallen 2022, as seen in the video embedded above, and it marks just the second time Sammy and Tay have united inside the ring in AEW, while it is a first for Dante and Skye.

The nature of the match predicates that the men exclusively wrestle the men while the women fight each other, but whether or not that breaks down into chaos remains to be seen. It is certainly going to be a wild affair this Friday, and one that Eddie Kingston and Ruby Soho will have their eyes on given the challenge Kingston made for All Out 2022, as well as the issues Ruby (and her broken arm) have with Tay.

ONE-ON-ONE...

Parker Boudreaux vs. Sonny Kiss

A high school football standout, Parker Boudreaux initially signed on with Notre Dame to continue his football journey, then transferring to UCF, before finding his calling as a professional wrestler. It's been less than a year since Parker stepped into the ring for his first match, and barely a week since he first came to All Elite Wrestling, but already this monstrous man has made quite an impression, enough for Ari Daivari to sign him on to The TrustBusters with Slim J.

As for Sonny Kiss, “The Concrete Rose” has been with All Elite Wrestling since the very beginning and while experiencing some successes as a tag team with Joey Janela, has yet to find that momentum to maintain consistent television time. While Sonny has proven an extremely capable grappler during their eight year career, and been in the ring with Cody Rhodes for a TNT Title Match, as well as Kenny Omega in the 2020 World Title Eliminator Tournament, it feels as if the moment has just not been there for Sonny.

This Friday night, coming off their Trios Match on AEW Dark, Sonny will be the first to welcome Parker Boudreaux to Rampage, but it will also mark Kiss' debut on AEW's Friday night staple as well. Not only that, but it will be their first time on TNT since that October 2020 fight with Kenny Omega, despite competing fairly regularly on Dark and Dark: Elevation. What a way to return to TV for Sonny Kiss it would be to defeat Parker in his TV debut, especially following that loss to The TrustBusters on Tuesday night.

But what's interesting here is, in relation to that Trios Match, is how Kiss turned their back on the bout at the end, and how Daivari seemed to express interest in Sonny after the fact. Is there potential for something more here between The TrustBusters and “The Concrete Rose”? Does Ari's trust fund have something of interest to Kiss, or will Kiss give The TrustBusters the kiss off with a victory Friday night?

TAG TEAM BOUT...

The Gunn Club (Austin & Colten) vs. Beardhausen (Danhausen & Erick Redbeard)

Daddy Ass is not happy with his boys after their humiliation in the Dumpster Match with The Acclaimed, and as a result, he seems to want to put them through the ringer as a team. It starts this Friday night when Austin and Colten have to deal with the man who dubbed them “The Ass Boys” in the first place: Danhausen!

And his partner for this tag team affair will not be the return of HOOKHausen, but rather the birth of BeardHausen when “That Beard Guy” returns to All Elite Wrestling for the first time since Revolution 2022 to lend Danhausen a helping hand! Erick Redbeard is a beast of man, far larger than either Gunn Club member, and certainly the kind of partner Danhausen would want for this tag team affair, but not the kind of foe the Gunn Club wants to try to rebound against.

Can Billy's kids come back from being left out with the morning's trash, and bringing shame to the good Gunn name?

TRIOS TOURNAMENT PREVIEW...

“Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy vs. Ari Daivari

Orange Cassidy and The Best Friends have a date with The TrustBusters in the Quarter-Final round of the AEW Trios Title Tournament, but this Friday night, in the main event of Rampage, two of the six men involved will get a head start on the action!

We've already seen Ari Daivari try to sway Orange Cassidy to his side of the fence, even though anyone with sense would know “Freshly Squeezed” isn't going to abandon his friends for the not-so-might dollar, but there's something to be said about the go that comes with money, especially unearned money like what Daivari now possesses.

Who will get the leg-up in this one-on-one battle as AEW heads towards the kick-off of the Trios Title Tournament next week on a special Dynamite that's brought to you by Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon?

FTW...

After claiming the FTW Title from Ricky Starks on July 27th, and his father officially dissolving Team Taz after Hobbs' betrayal of Starks, we will hear from “The Cold Hearted, Handsome Devil” HOOK this Friday night on Rampage!

SWERVE IN OUR GLORY...

After their victory over Tony Nese and Josh Woods last Friday night on Rampage, we will hear from the AEW World Tag Team Champions this Friday night on TNT! What will Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee have to share with the AEW faithful? Will they actually be able to get it off their chests without being interrupted by the next hopeful challengers stepping into their face?

This Friday night is going to be wild with Rampage: Quake by the Lake featuring Orange Cassidy, Danhausen, The Gunn Club, The TrustBusters, HOOK, “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson, and more! The festivities begin at 10:00pm EDT/9:00pm CDT on TNT, as well as at AEWPlus.com for our international audiences, so make sure to visit the official AEW YouTube channel to get caught up with Dynamite highlights, Dark: Elevation, AEW Dark, Road To, and this week's Control Center with Tony Schiavone!
