AEW Rampage Preview for October 21, 2022

On Wednesday night, All Elite Wrestling returned to Jon Moxley's home of Cincinnati, OH where the defending AEW World Champion managed to retain his title in an all-out fight with “Hangman” Adam Page. Unfortunately the end result came after an unfortunate injury to Page, but the former AEW World Champion will recover and return to the fight, undoubtedly with this unfinished business in mind. In addition, AEW Interim Women's World Champion Toni Storm retained her championship against Hikaru Shida, only for the champ to be assaulted by Jamie Hayter and Rebel. Dr. Britt Baker made her way ringside as well, only to have Saraya arrive, but her focus was solely on Baker, leaving Hayter and Rebel to continue their attack. Thankfully the original AEW Women's World Champion Riho returned to the scene to save the day!

Plus The Death Triangle retained the AEW World Trios Championship over The Best Friends and Orange Cassidy despite The Lucha Brothers not seeing eye-to-eye with how PAC tried to conduct his business, and ROH World Champion Chris Jericho remained so when he defeated another former champion in Dalton Castle. That's all brought us to this Friday night when AEW is LIVE for our Jacksonville homecoming at Daily's Place! The TBS Champion Jade Cargill has threatened to hijack the show if she doesn't get her championship back from Nyla Rose, the AEW World Tag Team Titles are on the line when The Acclaimed meet The Varsity Athletes PLUS the rights to “Scissoring” are at stake as well! The FTW Championship will be at stake when HOOK meets The TrustBusters Ari Daivari, and Ten locks horns with “El Toro Blanco” Rush AND Orange Cassidy with the All-Atlantic Championship on the line, while Penelope Ford and Willow Nightingale dance once again!

The excitement begins at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, and at AEWPlus.com for our international audiences, and fans can get prepared for it by heading to the official AEW YouTube channel for Dynamite highlights, Dark: Elevation, AEW Dark, Road To, and this week's Control Center with Tony Schiavone!

AEW WORLD TAG CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...

***TITLE VS. TRADEMARK***

The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster)(c) vs. The Varsity Athletes (Josh Woods & Tony Nese)

“Smart” Mark Sterling is nothing if not a savvy lawyer; he was on the spot to acquire the rights to “Varsity” from The Varsity Blonds of Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison, he was there to try and make some money off Wardlow's powerbomb victims earlier this year, and most importantly, he was there to trademark the term “scissoring” and any derivation to prevent The Acclaimed from profiting off its use.

Many have claimed he's doing it to purposefully cool off the red-hot World Tag Team Champions, but Sterling would claim he's just doing the fiscally intelligent thing to turn a dollar off every t-shirt sold, every sticker purchased, and the fact Caster, Bowens, and Billy Gunn can't use their signature hand gesture is just icing on the cake.

All he wants, all his clients want, is an opportunity to challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championship held by The Acclaimed. Caster and Bowens are not going to back down from any challenge, much less one that also gets them back their trademark should they win, so this Friday night on RAMPAGE, live from the arena where The Acclaimed cut their teeth inside an empty arena, The Varsity Athletes will get their chance to become new champions! But if “The Technical Beast” and “The Premier Athlete” fail, than all trademark of “scissoring” will revert to The Acclaimed!

Who will walk out of Daily's Place with the championship belts around their waist and the title of World Tag Team Champion? Tune into RAMPAGE live on TNT this Friday night at 10pm ED/9pm CT!

RECLAIMING HER PROPERTY

Jade Cargill is the rightful TBS Champion, there is no arguing that, she won the championship in the tournament, she's defended a record number of times, and remains unbeaten in All Elite Wrestling. Yet there is someone else running around with Jade's belt, calling herself the TBS Champion, and Cargill is sick and tired of the disrespect.

Thus, as can be heard above, Jade is threatening to take over AEW's return to Jacksonville and straight-up hijack the show until her property is returned. Will “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose and her Vicious Vixens acquiesce or is this going to be a night where Cargill rules the airwaves on TNT?

ONE-ON-ONE...

Penelope Ford vs. Willow Nightingale

In singles competition, these two athletes have collided on two instances, and in both it was “The SuperBad Girl” Penelope Ford who picked up the victories. The first took place on the December 21, 2021 edition of AEW DARK while the rematch went down just a month ago on the September 16th episode of RAMPAGE, but in their trios battle on the October 5th DYNAMITE, it was Nightingale who scored the pinfall victory for her team on Ford.

This Friday night on RAMPAGE, live on TNT, Ford looks for a measure of revenge for that loss while Willow aims to add a singles victory to that trios pin, and add some momentum to here AEW career!

ALL-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...

“Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy(c) vs. The Dark Order's Ten VS. LFI's Rush (w/ Jose The Assistant)

After weeks and weeks of La Faccion Ingobernable trying to lure Ten away from The Dark Order, of trying to hurt their chances in the AEW Trios Championship Tournament by assaulting Evil Uno following Ten's injury prevented his continued participation, of being denied time-and-time again, Ten is finally getting his chance to step into the ring with Rush!

Now LFI may not have Private Party under their control anymore, they've still got a very willing Butcher & Blade at their disposal to tip the scaled in Rush's favor, but Ten has family at his side as well with the rest of The Dark Order. Will this Friday night finally mark the end of LFI's harassment of The Dark Order and Ten? Or will a Rush victory just make it that much worse for Ten and his compatriots?

FULL STOP!

Late last night, as a result of the video embedded above, this one-on-one collision has now become a Three Way Bout with the All-Atlantic Championship on the line. This marks OC's first defense of the title since defeating “The Bastard” PAC in Toronto, and what a way to get his reign started! The last time Orange was in a Three Way bout was in Jacksonville when he and PAC challenged Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship at DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2021, and while that did not turn out in his favor, the defending champion isn't about to let history repeat itself!

How will Ten and former 2-Time ROH World Champion Rush roll with this wrinkle in their rivalry? Will they be too focused on each other to focus on the championship, or will this add a new layer to this heated issue between The Dark Order and LFI? Or will it just be like....whatever...

FTW CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...

HOOK(c) vs. Ari Daivari

Several weeks ago, HOOK received an envelope from Ari Daivari and his TrustBusters, and initially it seemed likely to be an offer to join Daivari's unit, but as the above words from Daivari tell, it wasn't an offer for HOOK to join the group, but rather one for the championship he won from “Absolute” Ricky Starks.

Clearly this was not something “The Cold Hearted Handsome Devil” had any interest in considering, and now the two men will go head-to-head this Friday night in Jacksonville as Ari attempts to take the FTW Title the hard way! Will all of The TrustBusters be in the house to lend their benefactor a helping hand? Or will Ari actually do something he is unaccustomed to and actually earn his success?

AEW fans are in store for a wild night in Jacksonville this Friday when RAMPAGE is live from Daily's Place! It gets underway at 10:00pm ET/9:00pm CT on TNT, as well as at AEWPlus.com for our international audiences, and features HOOK in action with his FTW Title on the line, Penelope Ford and Willow Nightingale going head-to-head, The Dark Order's Ten finally getting his hands on Rush but with Orange Cassidy and the All-Atlantic Championship now in the mix, and the AEW World Tag Team Championships on the line between The Acclaimed and The Varsity Athletes!
