On May 26, 2024 – 584 days ago – Mercedes Moné beat Willow Nightingale to claim the TBS Championship. Since then, Mercedes has traveled the world, accumulating championship over championship en route to becoming “Ultimo Moné.” No matter which championships she captured, though, that TBS Championship was her pride and joy.
But on Wednesday night, at AEW Dynamite New Year’s Smash – the final AEW broadcast of 2025 – Moné lost her TBS Championship to the very same woman she beat for the title, one half of the first-ever AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions, Willow Nightingale herself!
In a hard-hitting main event on Dynamite, Willow overcame everything Mercedes had to reclaim the TBS Championship and become a double-champion in her own right – as well as the the first ever two-time TBS Champion in AEW history:
Moné and Nightingale went to war on Wednesday night, with both women beating the hell out of each other. Things really started to culminate when they went to the outside and onto the announce table, where Mercedes suplexed Willow onto and off of the desk, as it refused to give way.
But Willow was able to beat the referee’s 10-count and make her way back into the ring, where she fought off a desperate Moné and ultimately planted her with the Babe With the Powerbomb for the three-count.
After her victory, Willow was greeted by her tag team partner, Harley Cameron, as well as The Conglomeration – and, believe it or not, AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander, who celebrated along with Nightingale, lifting her up in a heartfelt embrace.
AND NEW! Congratulations to Willow Nightingale for reclaiming the TBS Championship. And we can’t help but wonder how Mercedes Moné will react to losing another title – specifically, her beloved TBS Title.
