We are officially on the path to ALL IN: LONDON 2024 on August 25th, and the next stop on this road trip takes us to tonight's edition of COLLISION from Calgary, AB, Canada! Coming to you from the Saddledome, there's a huge night of action on tap with ramifications not just for All Elite Wrestling, but also for Ring of Honor's upcoming DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024 (www.watchroh.com) event on July 26th.
Two former ROH World Champions will clash when Dalton Castle faces Roderick Strong for the first time since 2016, and at stake is the right to challenge Mark Briscoe for the ROH World Championship in Arlington, TX! Plus, “The Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington returns to AEW to face “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita as that Don Callis Family member prepares for his NJPW debut in the G1 CLIMAX tournament. We also have Skye Blue in action against The Outcast's Harley Cameron, Shane Taylor Promotions fighting Top Flight after what went down on RAMPAGE, former AEW Women's World Champion Nyla Rose returning to COLLISION, The Bang Bang Gang in Trios action, and The Undisputed Kingdom facing The Conglomeration in tag team battle!
The action starts tonight at 8pm ET/7pm CT on TNT so before the show begins, please visit the official AEW YouTube channel to catch up on the highlights from DYNAMITE, RAMPAGE, previous episodes of COLLISION, and more! Then join us next Wednesday in Little Rock, AR for DYNAMITE 250 where AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland takes on AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada and AEW International Champion Will Ospreay puts his title on the line against Maxwell Jacob Friedman!
SINGLES MATCH...
“The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Don Callis) vs. “The Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington
Konosuke Takeshita begins his NJPW G1 CLIMAX journey on July 20th in Osaka, Japan with a match against New Japan Cup 2024 Winner Yota Tsuji, but that's still a week away, and before that he'll have to step into the ring with one of the most promising young talents in wrestling today: “The Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington! As he demonstrated two months ago when he wrestled Dax Harwood in Vancouver, the late Dynamite Kid's nephew is loaded with potential, rife with talent, and looks to hone his talents anywhere he can. Billington recently made his first trip to Japan on July 2nd, competed in Massachusetts in May, and continues to fight as much as he can in Canada. He's a hard-hitting, fierce competitor, and just because Takeshita is such an imposing force does not mean Billington is going to back down.
It's a huge opportunity for Billington to impress the AEW faithful, the kind where even a good showing will go a long way in the eyes of fans, while a victory would skyrocket his stock in the professional wrestling world. For Takeshita however, in many ways this is a must-win situation, he's certainly not going to want to head into his first New Japan tour with a loss hanging over his head, especially after his failure to win the TNT Championship at FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024 and his loss to Jon Moxley at DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2024 a month prior to that.
Will “Dynamite Kid” live up to his explosive moniker, or will “The Alpha” live up to his as he heads toward G1 CLIMAX 34?
ROH WORLD TITLE #1 CONTENDER MATCH...
Dalton Castle (w/ The Outrunners) vs. The Undisputed Kingdom's Roderick Strong
July 16th of 2016, ROH WRESTLING #252, that was the last time Roderick Strong stepped inside a Ring of Honor ring to compete, and coincidentally enough his opponent that night in Concord, NC was none other than Dalton Castle. Castle was victorious that night, just as he was a few weeks later when they met for a independent promotion in Oklahoma City in their final encounter...or rather their final encounter before tonight on COLLISION!
It's a clash between two men who claim status as ROH Triple Crown winners; will Roderick even the record between the two or will it be “The Peacock” who goes up on Roddy 3-1 in their series? We know Strong has been fairly focused on the life of Kyle O'Reilly as of late, will that keep him from staying focused on the fight in front of him on COLLISION? And what about the added wrinkle that the man who wins this fight will meet ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024, available exclusively on Honor Club, on July 26th in a title fight? That stakes certainly ramped up with that announcement and no doubt both Roddy and Dalton want to join the ranks of the other six multi-time ROH World Champs!
TAG TEAM BATTLE...
Shane Taylor Promotions (Lee Moriarty & Shane Taylor) vs. Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin)
On RAMPAGE last night we witnessed Shane Taylor Promotions come out with the victory in trios competition when Shane T pinned Action Andretti. The fact that Top Flight had been taken out of the equation and Andretti was isolated by all three members of STP was a huge factor in the outcome, giving STP a huge advantage in this ongoing rivalry!
Tonight on COLLISION however, the Martin brothers will have an opportunity to even the score when Dante and Darius face 2/3 of Shane Taylor Promotions in tag team competition, in this case Lee Moriarty and Anthony Ogogo uniting for the very first time. Can STP have the same success tonight that they did on Friday, or will Top Flight fly to the victory they were unable to find on RAMPAGE?
ONE-ON-ONE...
Skye Blue vs. Harley Cameron
Coming off a victory during ROH ON HONOR CLUB Thursday night, Skye Blue is back in action on COLLISION for the first time since an April victory over Leyla Hirsch! Skye is certainly aiming for another title fight after challenging Mercedes Moné for the TBS Championship back on May 29th's DYNAMITE, and that means either being the one to answer the “Anyone But Britt Baker” Open Challenge for DYNAMITE on Wednesday or putting together some victories to earn it the hard way. So that means a fight tonight on COLLISION against Harley Cameron, a woman she's never faced before, but who's maniacal behavior may just match that of Skye's since she embraced her darker impulses.
Of course while Skye Blue currently stands alone, Harley Cameron may have Saraya at her side, and that's always a potential game changer for any fight. Even if she doesn't, Harley has improved by leaps and bounds since aligning with the former AEW Women's World Champion and could very well see her first AEW win since April 2023.
TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH...
ROH World Tag Team Champions Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) vs. The Conglomeration (Kyle O'Reilly & Orange Cassidy)
Last night on RAMPAGE, The Conglomeration of Kyle O'Reilly, Orange Cassidy, and ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe watched on as Roderick Strong took down a 7 Foot giant named Ben Bishop out of Windy City Pro Wrestling (WCPW). Despite the words exchanged between The Undisputed Kingdom and The Conglomeration, the two trios did not come to blows, instead leaving Roddy, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett to celebrate inside the ring like they'd worn a World Championship.
Things will be a little different tonight though when Taven and Bennett step inside the squared circle with Kyle O'Reilly and Orange Cassidy for some tag team action! With Strong scheduled for that ROH World Title #1 Contender Match against Dalton Castle, there's no guarantee he will be there to assist his UK brothers, meaning the ROH World Tag Champions might actually have to do this without any outside assistance!
They're already angling for any easy night at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024, so what will they do to try and escape this one with a victory, especially if Roddy isn't there to help them out?
ALSO FEATURING:
-The Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, & Juice Robinson) in action!
-“The Native Beast” Nyla Rose returns to COLLISION!
-And More!!!
ALL IN: LONDON 2024 is six weeks away but the time is road there is already getting quite rough! AEW's next stop on this voyage to Wembley stops at the Saddledome in Calgary, AB, Canada for COLLISION! This one will impact not only AEW, but also Ring of Honor's upcoming DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024 event on July 26th in Arlington, TX!
The top contender for ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe will be determined when two ROH Triple Crown champ face off in Dalton Castle and The Undisputed Kingdom's Roderick Strong! The last time Roddy was in a ROH ring back in 2016 he lost to Dalton, will history repeat itself? Ahead of his participation in NJPW's G1 CLIMAX tournament, “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita takes on returning “Dynamite Kid” Tommy Billington, plus Skye Blue faces The Outcast's Harley Cameron, Shane Taylor Promotions takes on Top Flight in tag team action after their RAMPAGE trios clash, and former AEW Women's World Champion Nyla Rose comes back to COLLISION! We will also see The Bang Bang Gang in Trios action, while The Undisputed Kingdom of Taven and Bennett face The Conglomeration of O'Reilly and Cassidy in a tag team grudge match!
