AEW Collision Recap Tonight for Edmonton

AEW World Trios Championship Match: The Dogs (“War Ready” Gabe Kidd, David Finlay and “100 Proof” Clark Connors) def. JetSpeed (“The Jet” Kevin Knight and “Speedball” Mike Bailey) & Místico (c)

While the champions made their entrance, Kidd berated Tony Schiavone at the commentary desk, as he was clearly antsy to get this match underway.

Finlay and Místico began this one, but Kidd attacked Místico from behind as Finlay knocked JetSpeed off the apron. The Dogs continued the attack on the champs on the floor, taking a vicious early advantage. Back in the ring, Kidd tried to ground Bailey, but he was able to escape with a headscissors takeover followed by a dropkick that sent Kidd to the floor. Connors attacked Bailey from behind before he could dive onto Kidd. Knight and Connors went back and forth until Knight threw Connors to the outside. Finlay immediately attacked Knight at the ropes and stomped him to the ground. Místico flung Finlay to the floor with a headscissors takeover and did the same to Connors on the opposite side.

Místico gathered momentum for a dive, but he was cut off with a nasty shot from Kidd. Místico fought back until all six men were trading shots in the ring! Bailey chased Kidd to the outside and followed with a pescado! Knight tried to do the same to Connors, so he ran out of range. However, Knight saw it in time and redirected himself to the apron and over the turnbuckles to the adjacent side! Mistico sent Finlay to the floor and followed with a tornillo! The champions fired up the crowd and continued their offense around the ringside area with sustained success. JetSpeed and Místico returned to the ring with plans of hitting triple dives, but The Dogs were ready and cut them off. Kidd slammed Bailey on the floor, and Finlay carried Místico back-first into the steel post! The Dogs completely turned things around!

Knight wound up as the primary target of the challengers for the next few minutes, as he was completely isolated until a desperation dropkick connected with Finlay! Knight finally made the tag to Místico, who took Finlay down with a handspring elbow and a flying hurricanrana, sending him to the floor. He broke up a double team to send Kidd to the floor, then ran up the ropes to bring Connors down with an escalera armdrag! JetSpeed and Místico took another chance at a triple-tope suicida and connected!

As Knight was perched on the top rope, Kidd knocked him down and gave his team a chance to recover. Finlay drove down Knight with a Dominator, and Connors nearly cut Knight in half with a spear! Bailey made the save to keep the match alive! Finlay floored Bailey with a massive forearm! Knight dropped Connors with a jumping DDT!

Knight flew off the top rope with a springboard clothesline, putting Finlay down hard. Knight went to the top for a UFO Splash, so Connors met Knight on the turnbuckles to stop him. Místico hit Connors in the back with a rising kick and followed with La Mística! Bailey put a thrust kick on the chin of Finlay! Knight tried to jump over Místico and Connors for a UFO Splash on Finlay, but Finlay got his knees up! Kidd dropped Bailey with a shot to the neck!. Kidd nailed Mistico with a piledriver! Kidd officially tagged in amongst all the chaos and grabbed Knight for a piledriver, so Knight pushed him to the corner.

Bailey crashed down on Kidd’s back with Ultima Weapon. Bailey tagged in and connected with a thrust kick to Kidd’s jaw. Bailey cut off Connors’ spear attempt with a knee and then booted Finlay away. Bailey nearly captured Kidd for a pin, but he kicked out. Finlay and Connors went high/low on Bailey! Knight came off the top, but Finlay and Connors moved. Finlay dropped Knight on the top rope, and Kidd floored Knight with a monster lariat! Kidd stuck Bailey with a piledriver, then threw him to Finlay for a standing vertical suplex. Finlay held Bailey so Connors could come off the top with a spear for The Full Clip! Kidd covered Bailey for the win! THE DOGS ARE THE NEW AEW WORLD TRIOS CHAMPIONS!

After the match, Roderick Strong and Orange Cassidy appeared on the video screen. Strong congratulated The Dogs on their victory, but said they knew they weren’t done with Strong and Cassidy after what they did to them on Dynamite. Strong says he knows there are three Dogs, but there just might be a third for Strong and Cassidy. Cassidy was on the phone the entire time and hung up to agree with Strong. When Strong asked what the mystery person on the other line had said, Cassidy said he'd forgotten to ask but would call him back. Strong told The Dogs they’ll see them on Sunday and walked off with Cassidy, who took his time redialing the person he had just spoken to seconds ago.

Will Ospreay Has Brotherhood Backup in United Empire

We heard comments from Ospreay and United Empire after their main-event victory in Chaos in Canada on Dynamite. Ospreay introduced each member, whom he called his brothers. Francisco Akira is one of the greatest junior heavyweight wrestlers of all time. HENARE is one of the toughest “motherf***ers” and someone who can split open your head with the strike of his hand. And then, he introduced Callum Newman, the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Newman regaled the tale of Ospreay taking them out and asking for their help. Newman said they will always be there because they are a brotherhood. Ospreay addressed Moxley and said he gets him all to himself on Sunday. No Death Riders. No United Empire.

Kris Statlander & Hikaru Shida def. Ava Lawless & Gigi Rey

Right at the bell, Shida was all over Lawless and nailed her with 10 punches in the corner and a Falcon Arrow. Statlander made a blind tag that seemed to confuse Shida, so Rey tagged in on the other side and grabbed Statlander for a suplex. Statlander turned it into one of her own and a fisherman’s driver. She kicked Lawless off the apron, and Rey tried to fight back, but Statlander caught her in midair and executed a Staturday Night Fever for the quick victory! Shida was shocked, but came in to celebrate, somewhat begrudgingly and then seemed to consider striking Statlander from behind. Instead, the two hugged, but Shida remained conflicted.

Hyan & Maya World vs. Divine Dominion at Zero Hour!

World and Hyan said they were opportunists, as they’ve been racking up big wins in Ring of Honor. Hyan is a Renaissance woman, so you know she does it all, and World is the “It Girl” because all eyes are on her. They are two Texas girls, so you know they love a good fight. In a stacked women’s division, Lena Kross and Megan Bayne are at the top, and World and Hyan are coming for their AEW Women’s World Tag Team Titles at Dynasty Zero Hour!

Jon Moxley and the Death Riders Speak After Dynamite

We heard comments from after Dynamite, as Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli and PAC backed Moxley. He said Chaos in Canada was so much fun! Congratulations to United Empire, but would they ever want to do it again? Nobody can run with the Death Riders. Ospreay is hellbent on breaking Moxley’s neck. He’s done everything right in his career, maybe up until now, with the play he’s making. Moxley said 20 minutes is a long time to avoid making a mistake, and with Ospreay’s neck, he can’t afford one. Screw everybody, it’s Death Riders against the world!

For the #2 Spot in the Casino Gauntlet at AEW Dynasty: RUSH def. Anthony Bowens

The two were very intense from the bell, although neither could get an advantage after trading shoulder blocks and chops. RUSH finally dropped Bowens with a big forearm and faked Bull’s Horns to stop for a corner kick. He posed on the mat and caught Bowens in a powerslam. Bowens came back with a flurry of shots to the back that sent RUSH to the floor. Bowens threw RUSH from one barricade to another before slamming RUSH’s head off the steel steps three straight times! RUSH blocked two suplexes, so Bowens threw him into another barricade!

Bowens continued with the attack in the ring until RUSH turned things around with a snap-mare out of the corner, followed by a dropkick to the back of a seated Bowens. RUSH kicked at Bowens in a taunting way, so Bowens threw RUSH into the corner and fired up with chops! RUSH fought out and put Bowens on the mat with a fireman’s carry slam that got a near-fall. Bowens threw Rush through the ropes and brought him back in with a twisting DDT! RUSH kicked out at two!

Bowens charged at RUSH in the corner, but RUSH was ready and sent Bowens into the corner with an overhead throw! RUSH tried for Bull’s Horns, but this time Bowens was ready and fought his way out with a combo that got Bowens another near-fall. RUSH hit Bowens with a release German suplex and a running dropkick to send him to the floor. RUSH continued the mauling on the floor by throwing Bowens into the barricade. He threw Bowens back in the ring and hit Bull’s Horns on the third attempt! RUSH pulled Bowens out of the corner and pinned him to win the match and earn the #2 spot in the Casino Gauntlet at Dynasty!

The Brawling Birds are Ready for All the Fights!

Lexy Nair was with the Brawling Birds before they both had a busy weekend, starting tonight in a tag match against their respective opponents tomorrow: Marina Shafir and AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla. Windsor said she would address Moxley instead of Shafir because she’s his little lapdog. She said Ospreay will cut the head off the snake, but she’ll start by chopping off the ass. And he doesn’t have to worry when Will breaks his neck, but she will put Marina right next to him!

Hayter said she didn’t think Thekla would make it this far, but the last time they stood across the ring from each other, Thekla didn’t look like she wanted to get hit. Thekla is going to get hit harder than she ever has been before at Dynasty when she faces Hayter for the AEW Women’s World Championship!

The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) with MVP def. Andy Anderson & Mo Jabari

With the crowd filling the arena with the familiar refrain of “WE HURT PEOPLE” and their opponents already in the ring, it was time for the return of Lashley and Benjamin.

Lashley controlled Anderson with elbows and a shoulder block before an impressive stalling suplex. He went over to tag Benjamin, but Jabari tagged in first and started clubbing Lashley in the back to a comical level of failure. Benjamin tagged in and stopped Jabari with a knee lift. Jabari hit a couple of chops in the corner, but Benjamin came back with a pair of German suplexes as Anderson made a blind tag.

He walked into a Lashley spinebuster, and Benjamin ran across the ring with a running knee lift to Jabari in the corner. He stumbled into a spear by Lashley! Benjamin dropped Anderson with a thrust kick and pinned him for the easy win. The Hurt Syndicate hasn’t missed a beat!

Mina Shirakawa and Harley Cameron Commiserate Together

Lexy Nair found Harley Cameron with Mina Shirakawa after it was reported that Cameron was commiserating with Shirakawa when Kris Statlander was tagging with Hikaru Shida, despite Cameron asking her first. Nair asked what they were thinking. Cameron said all they have is hope. Statlander shut her down, and now there is only one thing left to do. Shirakawa produced a bottle of champagne, but Cameron stopped her and took the bottle for herself while Shirakawa drank from a large glass. Cameron finished the rest of the bottle.

“Bottoms up. Tops down.”

Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) def. El Clon & CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero of the Don Callis Family

Nick and Clon started things off in this intriguing tag team matchup. Nick was a step ahead of Clon, so Hechicero came in from behind to attack him and then Matt. However, Nick was able to turn things around by running the ropes for a headscissors/armdrag combo on Hechicero and Clon. Matt tagged in, and the Bucks sent Clon to the floor with an assisted sunset flip. The Bucks stopped pescado attempts on the apron and then adjusted to running hurricanranas on Clon and Hechicero!

Back in the ring, Clon got caught in a double-team facebuster that got the Bucks a near-fall. Clon and Matt exchanged strikes until Clon put Matt down and flipped Matt face-first onto his knee! Clon tied Matt up in the ropes, and Hechiero captured Nick’s head and arm to roll him around the ring. Clon and Hechicero tried to double-team Matt, but Matt sent Clon to the floor and then put Hechicero down with a standing sliced bread. Matt hit Clon with a spinning stunner from the apron! Matt tried to tag Nick, but Hechicero knocked Nick off the apron and swung Matt around with El Conjuro!

Matt found himself far from his corner to make a tag and ate a lot of offense from the Callis Family until he escaped their grasp with a double northern lights suplex! He tagged Nick, who came off the top with a crossbody to Hechicero and Clon. He sent Clon to the apron and stopped a springboard with a kick to the head. Hechicero grabbed Nick, but Nick flipped away and ran Hechicero’s arm up the turnbuckles so he could bring Clon down with a hurricanrana! Nick nailed Hechicero with a Canadian Destroyer in Canada! Clon made the save! The Bucks put Clon and Hechicero in stereo Scorpion Death Locks! The Bucks let go of the submissions and tried superkicks, but missed. The Bucks got tied up by their arms and flipped on their heads, so Clon and Hechicero captured them in double jackknives for near-falls! The Bucks came back with superkicks, and then all four men took each other down at the same time!

Matt tagged in, but Hechicero ran the Bucks into each other. Hechicero took out Nick with a flying guillotine, so Matt nailed him with a superkick. Matt faked a superkick on Clon and hit a DDT instead, but Clon avoided the contact on the way down! Matt threw Clon into a superkick from Nick, and then both Bucks hit superkicks on Clon! Hechicero pulled Nick off the apron, and Clon stunned Matt with a fadeaway kick. Hechicero tagged back in and trapped Nick in a choke! Matt hit a superkick on Clon and came off the top with a splash onto Hechicero that freed Nick! Hechicero kicked out at two! The Bucks tried a BTE Trigger, but Hechicero ducked, and the Bucks collided! Clon came off the top, but the Bucks caught him. Matt held Clon for a flipping piledriver, as Nick took out Hechicero and Rocky Romero on the outside. He flipped back in to plant Clon and get the Bucks a pinfall victory!

Before the next match, we took a look back at how Jericho signed his new AEW contract and picked Ricochet to face him at Dynasty!

AEW International Championship Match: “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada of the Don Callis Family (c) def. Myron Reed of The Rascalz

Okada was flanked by Lance Archer and Don Callis, who joined commentary. Reed had Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier out for his entrance before they sent him to the ring for the biggest match of his career!

Okada backed Reed to the ropes after a tie-up and fired away on him into the corner. Okada continued with more kicks in the corner and clotheslined Reed over the ropes to the apron. Okada charged through the ropes, so Reed legdropped him across the back! Back in the ring, Reed connected with an enzigiri and a springboard dropkick for a two count. Okada left the ring briefly and returned, but Reed was ready, and they fought to the corner. With Reed perched on the top turnbuckle, Okada dropkicked him all the way to the floor!

After dominating Reed on the floor, Okada continued this so-far one-sided affair back in the ring. He stuck Reed with a DDT in the ring and tried to follow with an elbow drop from the top, but Reed put his knees up. Reed tried a crucifix pin for a near-fall! Reed reversed Okada into a stunner and got to his feet first. Reed used his amazing quickness to avoid Okada multiple times until he knocked Okada to the corner with a dropkick!. Reed trapped Okada over the second rope and sent him into the mat with a guillotine legdrop from the top rope! Reed covered, but Okada kicked out at two!

Reed flew over the top with a dive that landed right on Okada! Back in the ring, Okada grabbed Reed off the ropes and dropped him with a neckbreaker. Okada slammed Reed and connected with the elbow drop from the top on his second attempt. Okada posed to flip off the crowd and set up Reed for a Rainmaker, but Reed fought out. Okada put Reed right back down with a perfect dropkick and tried a tombstone, but Reed escaped and draped Okada from the top rope face-first into the mat! With Okada on the apron, Reed leaped over the ropes and brought Okada to the floor with a leaping cutter! What an amazing move!

Reed threw Okada back in and came off the top with a 450 splash, but Okada got his knees up! Okada tried for a pin, but Reed kicked out. Okada picked Reed off the mat for a Rainmaker, but Reed reversed it into another nearfall! Reed narrowly avoided a discus clothesline, only for Okada to pull him into a tombstone! Okada picked Reed back up and hit the Rainmaker for a pinfall victory!

TBS Champion Willow Nightingale Says Anyone Can Get It

Nightingale spoke after Dynamite and her victory over the returning Queen Aminata, and over the returning Hikaru Shida, the week before on Collision. She embraced the “Comeback Killer” nickname given to her by Tony Schiavone and said if there’s anyone else who wants to come back, she’ll be waiting with the TBS Championship!

Divine Dominion Will Allow Hyan & Maya World to Face Them

Lena Kross said holding the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Titles means they are the best and the standard, but somehow Hyan and Maya have caught their attention as they try to rise. Kross asked what gave them the right, but Megan Bayne cut her off and said they’ll be gracious champions. They’ll give them the gift of entry into their domain, but make no mistake: Hyan and World are beneath them.

The Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter) def. AEW Women’s World Champion “The Toxic Spider” Thekla & Marina Shafir

Thekla and Shafir attacked before the bell, and the fight quickly spilled to the outside! Hayter got the better of Thekla with a couple of throws into the guardrail and then went over to help Windsor with Shafir. Shafir and Thekla quickly turned things around, and Thekla worked Hayter over using the barrier while Shafir put Windsor in a full nelson! Shafir tried to get in the ring, but Windsor grabbed her from behind and slammed her chest first! Finally, Windsor and Shafir got in the ring, so the bell rang! However, Hayter and Thekla were still brawling on the floor. Hayter ran in to deliver chops with Windsor on Shafir. They turned their attention to a charging Thekla and chopped her down. Shafir came out of the corner with kicks to fight off Hayter and Windsor. Shafir put Windsor down with a German suplex and then took a cheap shot at Hayter on the apron.

Windsor remained in trouble for the next few minutes, as Shafir and Thekla kept her away from Hayter. Windsor turned things around when she trapped Shafir in the ropes, fought off Thekla and then came back to Shafir for a draping DDT! Hayter tagged in and ran over to Thekla to knock her off the apron. Hayter hit a trifecta of German suplexes on Shafir and then a dropkick from the second rope. Shafir trapped Hayter in a guillotine and then delivered a stiff kick before tagging in Thekla. Thekla caught Hayter in an octopus, and Shafir cut off Windsor by grabbing her leg. Windsor kicked Shafir into Thekla, which allowed Hayter to break loose and drop Thekla with a sidewalk slam. Shafir dropped Hayter with a German Suplex, but Windsor put her down with a shoulder tackle. Thekla speared Windsor! Hayter headbutted Thekla, and everyone was down!

Windsor and Shafir tagged in at the same time! They yelled at each other as they exchanged all types of strikes until Windsor rocked Shafir to the mat. Hayter tagged back in, and Windsor held Shafir for Two Birds, One Stone. Thekla grabbed Hayter by the ropes, so Hayter headbutted him on the foot. When Hayter tried to get back in, Shafir attempted to get Windsor in Mother’s Milk, but Windsor stomped her foot. She lifted Shafir back up, and Hayter completed Two Birds, One Stone to get the pin on Shafir! The Brawling Birds win! Shafir looked up, smiling for some reason! Hayter and Thekla exchanged words as the Birds celebrated to end Collision!
