Tonight, AEW Dynamite is LIVE at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on TBS and streaming on HBO Max from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, just four days before AEW Dynasty in Vancouver! And we’ll hear from two of Canada’s greatest talents and see the TBS Championship defended in a highly anticipated matchup on what should be a star-studded night.
“The God of Pro Wrestling” Kenny Omega will speak before he faces “The Devil” MJF for the AEW World Championship this Sunday at Dynasty. Plus, Chris Jericho, who made his shocking return to AEW last week after nearly a year away, will address his return tonight on Dynamite.
TBS Champion Willow Nightingale turned away a stiff open challenge from the returning Hikaru Shida on Collision, but she’ll have little time to recuperate with another open challenge tonight, as Nightingale will defend the TBS Title against another hard-hitting, returning challenger, Queen Aminata.
Plus, the Don Callis Family will put the all-star team of Andrade El Ídolo, Mark Davis and NJPW World TV Champion “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita up against ROH World Champion Bandido and two men who will put their fiery past aside – Darby Allin and AEW National Champion “Jungle” Jack Perry – in what should be a wild Trios Match.
You can expect plenty of action and so much more on the final Dynamite before Dynasty! Here’s your complete AEW Dynamite preview for April 8, 2026.
AEW Dynamite Matches, Preview for Edmonton
“The God of Pro Wrestling” Kenny Omega Speaks
For the first time since October 2023, Omega will get a shot at the AEW World Championship this Sunday at Dynasty – against the very same man who retained the AEW World Title against Omega on that night, MJF.
Last week, Omega and MJF signed the contract for their AEW World Title match at Dynasty on April 12 in Vancouver, but tonight, “The God of Pro Wrestling” will speak to his adoring fans and almost certainly offer some words to his diabolic opponent!
Chris Jericho Addresses His Return
The return of Jericho sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world as, appropriately enough, he came back to AEW for the first time since last April in his hometown of Winnipeg! However, he only uttered these simple, but resounding words: “Winnipeg…AEW…I’m home!”
What will the first-ever AEW World Champion have to say when he addresses his return in front of his fellow Canadians in Edmonton?
TBS Championship Match: Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Queen Aminata
Nightingale and Harley Cameron going their separate ways as a tag team has allowed Nightingale to put her sole focus on her TBS Championship. Indeed, she threw out an open challenge on this past week’s Collision, which was answered by three-time former AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida. A backslide allowed Nightingale to walk away with the TBS Title on Collision, but another open challenge is on deck tonight on Dynamite!
It’s been nearly six months since Queen Aminata last stepped in the ring, but she must be ready to go, because she signed the contract to face Nightingale in her return to action. Before Aminata’s injury, she teamed with Nightingale on several occasions against common enemies, but tonight, they’ll go one-on-one for the first time in more than two years with the TBS Championship up for grabs.
Trios Match: Don Callis Family (Andrade El Ídolo, Mark Davis and NJPW World TV Champion “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita) vs. Darby Allin, ROH World Champion Bandido and AEW National Champion “Jungle” Jack Perry
The life of Darby Allin is never easy, and that certainly applies to his journey to the AEW World Championship. Ever since Allin declared his intentions for MJF’s AEW World Title, he’s faced constant attacks and threats from the Don Callis Family, whom MJF has paid to take out Allin. However, if Allin can beat Andrade at Dynasty, MJF will grant him a shot at the AEW World Title – a stipulation Kenny Omega has said he’d honor if Omega were to beat MJF at Dynasty, as well.
When Brody King and Perry saved Allin last week, it brought together former rivals. King and Allin took years off each other’s careers, and as Perry reminded Allin, it was Allin who once set Perry on fire. With King unavailable for personal reasons, his tag team partner Bandido will join Allin and Perry together in the name of rising up against the Callis Family tonight on Dynamite!
