AEW Dynamite Tonight: Preview for May 14 in Chicago

AEW World Championship Steel Cage Match: Jon Moxley vs. Samoa Joe

It doesn’t get more intense than this. Jon Moxley will put the AEW World Championship on the line against Samoa Joe inside a steel cage. This battle has been weeks in the making – fueled by bad blood and escalating violence between Moxley’s Death Riders and Joe with his allies in the Opps. Last week, Joe bulldozed through Moxley’s teammate Claudio Castagnoli in a hard-hitting tune-up, and now “The Samoan Submission Machine” steps into the cage with the champion himself. The steel enclosure is designed to keep outside interference at bay and force a decisive clash between two of the most unforgiving fighters in wrestling. Will Mox emerge from the steel still atop the mountain, or will Samoa Joe brutalize his way to a new era as AEW World Champion?

AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator 4-Way: Toni Storm vs. Mina Shirakawa vs. Skye Blue vs. AZM

The AEW women’s division takes center stage with “Timeless” Toni Storm once again daring multiple challengers to face her at once. After surviving a four-way eliminator just last week, the reigning AEW Women’s World Champion has demanded another big test at Beach Break. Tonight, Storm will battle Mina Shirakawa, Skye Blue, and AZM in a single fall, four-way eliminator match. The stakes are simple: if any of the three challengers pins the champion, they earn a future Women’s World Title opportunity.

Each challenger brings a unique threat. Mina Shirakawa is a standout from Japan known for her hard-hitting style and charisma. Skye Blue is a returning hometown favorite – the young Chicago native would love nothing more than to score the biggest win of her career in front of her city. And AZM, the current NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion, returns to AEW with a chance to immediately shake up the title scene. Can the “Timeless” champion once again overcome the odds and claim the spotlight?

Will Ospreay & “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Josh Alexander

Will Ospreay and “Hangman” Adam Page are on a collision course in the Owen Hart Cup finals at Double or Nothing, but before they meet as opponents, they’ll try to coexist as partners at Beach Break. Across the ring is the imposing duo of Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander, representing the ever-dangerous Don Callis Family.

This unique match offers plenty of intrigue: can the Brit and the cowboy trust each other long enough to withstand the onslaught, or will the Callis Family score a statement victory over two of AEW’s top stars?

Ricochet vs. Zach Gowen

A very unexpected singles match will take place tonight as the gravity-defying Ricochet goes one-on-one with the one-of-a-kind Zach Gowen. Last week in Detroit, Ricochet shocked everyone by viciously attacking Gowen – even going so far as to knock the inspirational veteran down and snatch away his prosthetic leg in a disgusting act of disrespect. Now, Gowen, competing in an AEW ring for the first time, is out for redemption and revenge. Ricochet has shown a newfound mean streak since arriving in AEW, but he’ll be facing the tenacity and heart of a man who has overcome adversity his entire life. Will Gowen make Ricochet pay for his heinous actions, or will Ricochet double down on his cruelty and add another notch to his belt at Gowen’s expense? Emotions will be running high in this showdown, and the Chicago crowd will surely be rallying behind Gowen in this battle of athleticism versus resilience.

Bobby Lashley’s Decision Regarding MJF and The Hurt Syndicate

One of the most anticipated moments of the night isn’t a match at all, but a decision that could have huge implications. Bobby Lashley will address MJF’s bid to join The Hurt Syndicate live tonight. For weeks, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been trying to prove that he belongs in the dominant faction. MJF has tried lavish gifts, slick persuasion, and most recently outright brutality to impress the All Mighty and his Hurt Syndicate partners, Shelton Benjamin and MVP.

Last Wednesday, MJF attacked the tag team Top Flight from behind and left them bloodied, emphatically showing that, in his own words, “I hurt people.” Now the ball is in Lashley’s court. The Hurt Syndicate prides itself on ruthlessness and unity, and MJF has certainly shown ruthlessness – but is he truly Syndicate material? Lashley has promised to give MJF an answer at Beach Break.
