AEW Dynamite Results

AEW Dynamite was LIVE from Fairfax, Virginia, on TBS and HBO Max, and four championships were at stake with less than a month until AEW Double or Nothing on May 24!

The night opened with the TNT Championship match between “The Jet” Kevin Knight and his challenger, MJF. In the end, MJF tried to use the Dynamite Diamond Ring behind the referee’s back, but Knight stopped him with a retaliatory low blow and caught him with the surprise pin to retain the TNT Championship. After the match, MJF tried to attack, but Darby Allin made the save and promised to give Knight a shot at the AEW World Title next week if he got by Brody King in the main event. King came out and said that wasn’t going to happen because next week, Knight would face the new AEW World Champion, himself!

In the main event, however, Allin did it again. In his third AEW World Championship match over the last three weeks, Allin was able to outlast King for his second successful title defense thanks to a powerbomb on the exposed concrete and three Coffin Drops! Next week, Allin will defend the AEW World Title against TNT Champion Kevin Knight.

The other two championship bouts saw two more successful defenses. AEW International Champion “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada beat Ace Austin, and AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion turned away Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida!

Plus, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage earned a measure of revenge on RPG Vice and accepted FTR’s “I Quit” stipulation to be added to their Double or Nothing Street Fight for the AEW World Tag Team Titles. And Will Ospreay showed up to train with the Death Riders!

All that and so much more went down on a huge night in Fairfax for Dynamite!  Here are your complete results!

AEW Dynamite Recap Tonight for Fairfax

TNT Championship Match: "The Jet" Kevin Knight (c) vs. MJF

Before our opening contest, we took a look back at how this TNT Championship match came to be. And we also welcomed Taz back to the broadcast desk!  MJF entered first without the usual bravado, but Knight certainly soaked in the championship reaction on his way to the ring. After the championship ring announcements from Justin Roberts, including an anti-Virginia edit from MJF, it was time for the first of four title matches tonight on Dynamite!

The crowd cheered at the bell, but the two took their time until MJF came out hot! He booted Knight and threw him over the top rope. MJF followed by sending Knight into two sets of steel steps. MJF took it up a level by powerbombing Knight across the barricade! MJF commandeered the camera to talk trash on Knight. MJF threw Knight back in the ring and got a two-count. Knight fought out of a rear chinlock to put MJF on the mat with a springboard crossbody. MJF took control right back with a back elbow. The two exchanged reversals on suplex attempts, so MJF adjusted and hit a cutter. He covered Knight again for a near-fall. MJF tried for the Heat Seeker, but Knight stopped him by pulling MJF down on the top rope. Knight dove under MJF and jumped over a lariat to plant MJF with a DDT! Both men stayed down until they fought to their feet, with Knight opening up on MJF! He stomped MJF down to the mat against the ropes with fire and had to be pulled away by Bryce Remsburg!

Knight and MJF exchanged reversals until Knight put MJF back down with a dropkick. He followed with a standing UFO Splash for a near-fall! Knight dragged MJF to the middle of the ring and climbed to the top rope. MJF rolled out of the ring, so Knight dropped down to the mat and then launched himself over the top onto MJF on the floor! Knight threw MJF back in, so MJF rolled out to the other side. Knight dove out again with a tope suicida, taking out MJF! Once again, Knight threw MJF back in and once again, MJF rolled to the outside. So this time, Knight skied over the top rope with a flip that was on target with MJF! Knight celebrated on the announce desk!

Knight threw MJF yet again, and yet again, MJF rolled to the floor, only this time, he stopped at the base of the ramp. Knight saw that and springboarded to the top and down onto MJF with a lariat from a long distance! Knight threw MJF back in and went right to the top rope, but MJF rolled to the ropes, only to stop when Knight charged, which allowed MJF to send Knight to the apron. He had Knight set up for the Heat Seeker, but Knight pushed him away and leaped over MJF. Knight fought hard for a sunset flip and got it, but MJF kicked out and rolled into a nearfall of his own. Knight pushed the momentum back on MJF to get another two-count. MJF blocked Knight’s jumping DDT by launching him into a cutter! Knight kicked out at two! We nearly had a new TNT Champion.

Knight hopped over MJF in the corner, so MJF came back with a back elbow and sat on the turnbuckle. Knight slowed MJF with a right hand and climbed to the top. MJF pushed Knight off the top, and Knight seemed to buckle his knee on the way down. However, Knight still leaped up for a hurricanrana! Knight continued to clutch his leg and slowly got to the top rope. That gave MJF enough time to move, as Knight crashed onto the mat with a failed UFO Splash. That only did more damage to Knight’s knee, and MJF saw it, so he went for a Figure Four Leglock. Knight kicked him into the corner, but when he tried to charge after MJF, Knight’s leg gave out, and he collapsed to the mat. MJF quickly connected with a short thrust kick to the head and jumped to the second rope for a Panama Sunrise on Knight! Knight kicked out and survived!

MJF taunted the crowd and locked Knight in a single-leg crab in the middle of the ring to attack the injured knee. Knight tried to climb to the ropes, but MJF pulled him back. Knight was able to escape by kicking free, although the damage was clearly done as Knight failed to charge MJF in the corner again, with the leg giving out for a second time. MJF went back to the second rope and yelled “PANAMA,” which telegraphed the move to Knight, who met MJF with a superkick! Knight scrambled to the corner and went to the top, but this time he nailed the UFO Splash! Knight grabbed at his knee again and needed a little extra time to get an arm over MJF, which allowed MJF to kick out at the last moment.

Knight tried to push through the pain as he pulled himself back up. He charged at MJF in the ropes, but MJF grabbed Knight’s leg and twisted it with a dragon screw on the apron. MJF pounded away at the knee and picked up Knight for an Alabama Slam. He put a knee on Knight for a cocky cover, but Knight kicked out. MJF tried two more pin attempts, but Knight kept kicking out. MJF was frustrated and seemed at a loss for what to do. He grabbed the TNT Title and brought it into the ring. The referee pulled it away, so MJF put the Dynamite Diamond Ring on behind his back! Knight saw it coming and hit MJF with a low blow that also went undetected! Knight captured MJF in a small package to get the pinfall and retained the TNT Championship!

MJF was stunned, but that quickly turned to vengeance as he stormed out of the corner to clip Knight’s knee. He measured Knight for a shot with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, so he didn’t see AEW World Champion Darby Allin descend from the top of the arena! Allin got in the ring and grabbed MJF for a Scorpion Death Drop, but made sure to take a look around the crowd before dropping MJF on his head! MJF bailed up the ramp, as the crowd chanted, “DARBY!”

MJF had a mic and insulted the crowd. He called Allin and Knight a pair of low-life cheaters, but said the joke is on Knight because he was barely trying in that match. MJF said the only thing he cares about is his Triple B, his AEW World Championship.

“Give me my rematch, Darby!”

Allin said no and wouldn’t give him that shot unless MJF put something on the line. And if he survives Brody King tonight, he knows exactly who deserves a shot next week. MJF pleaded that it should be him, but Allin said, “Kevin Knight!”

King’s music hit, and he had a staredown with MJF before marching to the ring with a mic in his hand. He had a staredown with Allin and said, “I’ve got some bad news for you, Darby, cause you’re not gonna survive tonight. And Jet, I have even worse news for you. Next week, you’re not gonna be facing Darby Allin. You’re gonna be facing the NEW AEW World Champion. WOOF!”

After all that, we took a look at the history of Darby Allin and Brody King before their AEW World Championship match in the main event.

Cage & Cope Answer FTR’s Double or Nothing Addendum

Renee Paquette was backstage with Christian Cage and Adam Copeland. She started by asking about Cage’s fractured right arm, which was wrapped from his wrist to his elbow pad. He said the arm was fine and that there was no need to worry about it. She asked Cope about FTR adding the “I Quit” stipulation, but Cage grabbed the mic and said, “We accept.” Cope responded by saying that it was a quick response considering Cage’s history with “I Quit” matches in AEW, clearly referring to Cope’s victory over Cage in just that type of match to win the TNT Title at Dynamite in Toronto back in March 2024. Cage said he’s told everyone a thousand times that he never said, “I quit.” He reiterated the point and walked away. Cope told Paquette Cage totally said it, but he won’t say it again, though.

Brawling Birds (Jamie Hayter and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Alex Windsor) def. Emily Jaye & Jordan Blade

Jamie Hayter was cleared for action for the first time since Dynasty, when she lost to AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla. Hayter immediately laid a forearm across the face of Blade and then knocked Jaye off the apron with the same shot. Hayter worked Blade into the corner and then took turns tagging in and out with Windsor to chop Blade. They were about to hit a double chop, so Jaye ran in and got dropped by the Birds for her troubles. They chopped Blade down to the mat. Hayter hit a snap suplex on Blade, while Windsor took down Jaye on the floor. Hayter called for Windsor, who came in for the double headbutt on Blade. They sandwiched Blade in the center of the ring with lariats and finished Blade with Two Birds, One Stone to get the dominant pinfall victory!

After the match, we took a look at Swerve Strickland’s weekend at the NFL Draft, which included announcing the Jacksonville Jaguars’ fourth-round pick! He had a chance to spend time with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Michael Keaton and Pro Football Hall of Famer Curtis Martin.

Triangle of Madness Have Plenty to Say to The Brawling Birds

Following the match, we heard from AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla and Skye Blue of Triangle of Madness. Thekla said she keeps getting asked why she calls everyone “dumb bitches.” She said she would love to stop, but there’s just “too many dumb bitches in AEW!”

Blue said that what happened to Persephone when she got misted by Julia Hart on Collision was entirely the fault of the Brawling Birds. Blue said getting misted was the best thing that ever happened to her, so maybe it’ll open Persephone’s eyes, too. Thekla wondered what happened to Windsor and Hayter because they couldn’t handle a Toxic Spider. She suggested they stick to their tag team because one-on-one, Thekla is everything and they are nothing!

AEW International Championship Match: "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada (c) def. Ace Austin of Bang Bang Gang

Okada came to the ring with Don Callis and Mark Davis. Callis joined commentary as Austin came to the ring, accompanied by Juice Robinson of Bang Bang Gang. The two circled before locking up, and Okada pushed Austin into the corner. Okada pretended to back up before kicking Austin to the mat. Austin changed the pace by rolling off the ropes and into Okada for a drop toehold. He cradled Okada for a near-fall and immediately put Okada back down with a dropkick. Austin stayed on Okada with elbows to the back and then squatted before dropping Okada with a Death Valley Driver. Austin posed for the crowd, which allowed Okada to avoid a charge in the corner. Okada came back, but this time, Austin avoided him and came back with a big kick to the side of Okada’s head!

Okada bailed to the floor, so Austin launched himself over the top, which caused Okada to move. Austin stopped himself on the apron and avoided a charging Okada by standing on one arm! Okada applauded as he walked away smiling. When he turned around, Austin kicked Okada through the turnbuckle connectors, but then missed a crossbody to the outside when Okada moved. Okada kicked Austin and DDTed him to the floor! Okada sat up with a huge smile on his face.

Okada kept the pressure on with a reverse neckbreaker to Austin across his knee back in the ring. Okada slammed Austin and went to the top for a picture-perfect elbow. Okada messed with the crowd and flipped them off before grabbing Austin from behind in an attempt to hit a Rainmaker. Austin was ready for it and ran to the ropes, sending Okada to the outside. Austin tried to kick Okada from the apron, so Okada caught it and swung Austin, who once again stood on one hand on the apron! This time, Okada went after Austin, but Austin avoided him and kicked Okada in the chest!

Austin went back to the ring and connected on a Fosbury Flop to Okada on the floor! Austin rolled Okada in and went to the top with a springboard. Okada moved when Austin came off the top, but walked back into the arms of Austin. Okada escaped and tried a lariat, but Austin blocked it and delivered two kicks to the chest before nailing a Russian Leg Sweep. He followed with a massive leg drop. Austin clobbered Okada in the corner and then came down on Okada’s neck with a leg drop from the top rope! Okada just kicked out in time!

Austin charged Okada, who stopped him with a boot to the face. Okada rolled Austin into a near-fall, but kept him on the mat with a shot to the back. Okada set up for the dropkick, but Austin hung onto the ropes, which made Okada fall flat on the mat. Austin rolled over Okada for a sunset flip to get a two-count. Okada booted Austin to the mat and flipped him onto the apron. Austin hit Okada with an elbow strike and tried a double springboard through the ropes and back into the ring, but he was met by a huge dropkick from Okada that was right on target!

Okada picked up Austin for the Rainmaker, but Austin ducked it and trapped Okada in a backslide that nearly won him the AEW International Title! Okada put Austin down with a second dropkick and followed with a tombstone piledriver in the middle of the ring. Okada picked up Austin for the Rainmaker once again, but this time he hit it for the pinfall victory to retain the AEW International Title!

After the match, Callis tried to get some cheap shots on Austin, but Robinson came over to save him. As Okada, Callis and Davis continued to celebrate in the ring, Okada’s Double or Nothing opponent, “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita, walked out to the top of the ramp and signaled to Okada that he wanted Okada’s AEW International Title.

Swerve Strickland is Looking for Bandido!

We were taken to a saloon, where outside, we saw beaten bodies all over the dirt road. As someone tried to run away, we saw someone pick up a Bandido Most Wanted poster, and it was revealed to be Swerve Strickland! He dusted off the poster, and a hand that belonged to Prince Nana handed him a torch. Bandido set the poster ablaze and dropped it as the scene faded to black.

Will Ospreay Trains with the Death Riders?!

We were taken to a Death Riders training session, with Daniel Garcia explaining that you can’t be the best out there until you’re the best in here first. As Marina Shafir rolled around with Wheeler Yuta, Will Ospreay walked in! Jon Moxley sprang out of his chair and said, “He has arrived!” He asked Ospreay if he got cleared, and Ospreay said no, but it won’t stop him from going to Japan because he has a big title match with the United Empire, and he won’t let them down. Moxley applauded the loyalty and said Ospreay was too good to be true. Then, Mox playfully poked PAC in the stomach.

Moxley said first that he needs Ospreay to drop everything. He pointed to his head and said Ospreay needs to drop the things that cloud his vision. The things that aren’t there. He pointed to his chest and said everything that pulls at Ospreay’s heartstrings. Mox pointed to his stomach and brought up the anger that burns a hole in your stomach.

“Drop it all. Excess baggage. We don’t need it. Your feelings about me? Drop it. We don’t need excess baggage. I make no promises. I don’t produce miracles. But when I commit to something, I see it through to the end. All I ask is the same in return.”

Ospreay simply responded, “OK.” Moxley said, “Beautiful.” Ospreay continued into the training session, stopping for a brief staredown with PAC before approaching the rest of the Death Riders. He Moxley where the ring was.

“Oh, we don’t do a ring. We’re starting from the ground up.”

Moxley turned to the camera and said the rest was proprietary, then put a hand over the lens.

Tag Team Match: Christian Cage & Adam Copeland def. RPG Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta) of the Don Callis Family

Before the next match, AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR and Stoke made their way towards the ring. Stoke took a seat at the commentary desk with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler standing by as Cope made his entrance. Cage was out next, as Stoke informed everyone that Cope and Cage cannot touch them. RPG Vice made their way to the ring, as we looked at the history between Cope and Cage, RPG Vice and FTR, which led to Wheeler “accidentally” giving Cage a hairline fracture in his right arm.

That didn’t stop Cage from starting the match with Romero. Cage worked him into the corner and let him go, so Romero tried an arm wringer and followed with a dropkick! He immediately celebrated with a soccer-style slide, which gave Cage a chance to grab him from behind for a reverse DDT. Romero kicked out at two. Cope tagged in, and after slamming Romero into the corner twice, he hit an assisted boot on Romero for a two-count. Romero got separated from Cope and tagged Beretta. He put Beretta on the mat with double knees to the chest, which got a nearfall. Beretta chopped Cope in the corner, but Cope whipped him into the opposite corner upside down! He walked right back into a big boot from Cope, who then tripped him into the second rope. Cage tagged in and stood on Beretta’s neck. Cope landed a crossbody on Beretta’s back, which allowed Cage to bring Beretta to the floor to throw him into the barricade. He tried to do more damage near the ring post, but saw Wheeler and grabbed him instead, only for Wheeler to pull Cage into the ring post behind the referee’s back. Harwood taunted Cage, and Stoke got up from the commentary desk to do the same.

That’s when The Conglomeration’s Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly, the AEW World Trios Champions, showed up in the front row near Stoke. He took a wild swing at Cassidy, who ducked and hit Stoke with a box of popcorn! That set off a brawl between The Conglomeration and FTR, which spilled into the crowd and away from all the action. Back at the ring, Romero nailed a running knee to Cage from the apron! Cage remained in trouble for several minutes, as RPG Vice did everything they could to punish Cage and keep him from tagging Cope.

Romero landed a flying knee from the top rope onto Cage, who was hung over the ropes. That brought Cage back in the ring to eat a running knee from Beretta. Cope came in to break up the pin attempt. Romero put Cage on the top turnbuckle, which Cage tried to fight off, but Romero pulled him down with a cross armbreaker. Cage got to the ropes to break the hold, so Romero tagged Beretta. Cage fought out of the corner with elbows and punches, which gave him the opening to make a tag, but Romero cut him off by sending him into the corner. Cage hit a desperation tornado DDT on Romero and finally tagged Cope!

Cope opened up on Beretta with a big back body drop and flapjack. He brought Beretta to the corner, and Beretta fought back. Beretta tried a tornado DDT of his own, but Cope threw him off and nailed a spear! Romero came in to break up the pin attempt, so Cope moved, and Romero hit Beretta! Cope tried to fight them both, only to be overwhelmed and hit with jumping double knees from RPG Vice. Romero went to the top, but Cage pushed him off before he could do anything, and then hit Beretta with a sunset flip from Cope. Romero broke it up and raked Cage in the eye. Cage knocked Romero to the floor, possibly with his arm brace, so Beretta sent Cage to the outside. He tried to roll up Cope with his feet on the ropes, but the referee saw him. Cope charged at Beretta in the corner, so Beretta put a boot up. When Beretta charged out of the corner, Cope popped him into the air for Cage to hit a spear! That was good enough for the three-count and win!

Cage grabbed a chair and set it up in the ring. He grabbed the crossbar from the chair and gave it to Cope, who used it to put a crossface on Beretta. Cage grabbed a microphone and got Beretta to say, “I quit!” Cage and Cope tried to celebrate with the AEW World Tag Team Titles, but the referee took them away.

Jericho Taken Out by The Demand!

Renee Paquette asked Jericho if Ricochet was right to say the Ricosault is better than the Lionsault because it beat Jericho twice. Jericho said imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but he’s not flattered; he’s pissed off. Jericho tried to say more, but was blindsided by The Demand! Ricochet, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun beat Jericho until Ricochet browbeat Jericho about his return and asked if this is what he wanted. Jericho said, “Eat shit, Bald.”

They continued the assault on Jericho and threw him into some nearby staging. Ricochet took a look at a raised structure next to Jericho and jumped off it for a Ricosault, but landed on his feet and told Jericho, “You’re not even worth it. AHAA!”

AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Match: Divine Dominion (“Megasus” Megan Bayne & “Colossal” Lena Kross) (c) def. Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander

Renee Paquette reported comments from Shida, who said that she and Statlander have seven years of tag team experience, and she’s tagged with Statlander more than Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron.

Shida charged Kross at the bell, but Kross quickly turned that around in the corner with shoulders to the gut. Kross shoulder-blocked Shida to the mat and tagged Bayne. They hit a double-team shoulder block on Shida, and Bayne continued the offense with a fallaway slam. Bayne charged Shida, but she moved Bayne into the corner and hit a knee strike. Bayne lifted Shida out of the corner, but Shida dropped to the mat. Bayne caught Shida mid-flight and threw her to the mat. Shida came back in and raked Bayne’s eyes. She grabbed her kendo stick, but Statlander stopped her and ended up pulling Shida out of the way of Bayne, who went shoulder-first into the ring post. Statlander threw the kendo stick away, and Shida tagged Stat by slapping her on the head. When Statlander entered the ring, Shida booted her in the stomach and suplexed Statlander into Bayne, who was still caught between the top and middle turnbuckle!

Statlander was incensed, but tried to pick up Bayne, who carried her to the corner and tagged Kross. Kross and Bayne blocked a double hurricanrana and dropped Statlander to the mat. Statlander sent a charging Bayne to the floor and snatched Kross for a Staturday Night Fever, but Kross shimmied free, so Statlander just sat down on her for a near-fall. The kickout sent Statlander into the second rope, where Bayne connected with a running boot from the apron. Kross grabbed Stat and dropped her forward from her shoulder in a sickening thud on the mat.

Divine Dominion remained in control until Statlander found a second wind and was able to take Bayne and Kross down with a double hurricanrana! A spinning lariat put Bayne down, and Statlander finally tagged Shida, as Kross tagged in on the other side. Shida lit up Kross with a barrage of shots and a drop kick from the middle rope. Bayne grabbed Shida from the apron so Kross could connect with a running big boot. Shida turned things around by sending Kross into Bayne near the apron. She took both out with a sliding kick through the ropes! Shida hit a dropkick to Bayne and Kross from the apron to the floor. Back in the ring, Kross nailed a hook kick to Shida, who fell into the corner, which allowed Stat to make the tag! Stat hit Kross with multiple strikes until Kross sent her to the corner. Bayne held Statlander for a double-team in the corner and tagged in. Kross hit a running boot on Stat, and Bayne followed with one of her own and a release German Suplex! Statlander kicked out at two!

Kross made a blind tag with Bayne on the ropes, but Bayne came off with a flying clothesline that Statlander ducked and walked into a dropkick from Kross. Shidawas was knocked down with a kick, but Bayne immediately took Shidawas down. Stat hit Bayne with a variation of a Blue Thunder Bomb, followed by a roundhouse kick on Kross. Statlander went to the top and nailed both members of Divine Dominion with a 450 splash! Kross somehow kicked out! Statlander picked Kross up near the corner for what looked to be a Staturday Night Fever, but Shida tagged in, so Statlander just threw Kross to the mat. Shida came off the top with a meteora to a seated Kross. Shida hit Kross with a Falcon Arrow, but Kross kicked out again! Bayne cut Shida off with a belly-to-belly suplex, only for Stat to nail Bayne with a thrust kick. Kross immediately grabbed Statlander from behind, and Bayne came flying out of the corner with a boot to Statlander as Kross nailed a German Suplex! Divine Intervention planted Shida, and Kross pinned her for the successful AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship defense!

Andrade El Ídolo Confronted by MJF

Renee Paquette was with Andrade and Don Callis to ask Andrade about his incredible tear, but before he could respond, MJF interrupted and said it’s Andrade’s fault that Darby Allin is on a reign of terror. Andrade messed with MJF by answering all of MJF’s responses with “How you know?” Finally, Andrade pulled off his glasses and laughed as he said it one more time, which set MJF off enough that he shoved Andrade. Andrade pushed right back until Callis broke it up. Callis called Andrade “my money man” and called MJF “the money man.” Callis told Andrade that MJF doesn’t have a belt right now, so Andrade doesn’t have to fight him, and he told MJF he needs to get his belt back. That was enough to send MJF and Andrade in separate directions.

RUSH of LFI def. Steven Fuerte

Fuerte offered RUSH a handshake, so RUSH cleaned his clock as the bell rang. RUSH punished Fuerte on the outside near the barricade and threw him back into the ring. RUSH stomped all over Fuerte in the corner and fired up the crowd, who responded with “RUSH” chants! RUSH didn’t mess around and finished Fuerte with Bull’s Horns for the quick pinfall win. He reminded everyone that when you mess with the bull, you get the horns!

The Opps are at Full Strength, and Samoa Joe has a Reminder for Will Ospreay

Renee Paquette was backstage with The Opps: Samoa Joe, HOOK, Katsuyori Shibata and the newest member, Anthony Bowens. Joe said they intend to reassert their dominance in AEW. He plans to do it with Shibata, who is nice enough to put on kickpads before he beats you. He plans to do it with Bowens, a man who has been undervalued, underappreciated, and most importantly, underestimated. And now you’ll see the best version of Bowens in The Opps. And HOOK is going to become the new King of Television this weekend when he wins the TNT Championship. And more importantly, Joe said their rise to the top includes strategic acquisition, which brings him to Will Ospreay.

“You see, Will. I hope, and I pray, that you’re not suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. 'Cause those boys in the Death Riders, they had you in the very same position that they saved you from not too long ago, and you know who came and took you out of that? We did, Will. We had your back. So you have to ask yourself: what kind of relationship do you want? One of convenience or one of confidence. Cause The Opps are here, and the choice is yours.”

Dax Harwood vs. Orange Cassidy Double Jeopardy Next Week!

Stoke was with FTR and said he just left Tony Khan’s office with a proposition for Orange Cassidy. Next week on Dynamite, double jeopardy. You go one-on-one with Dax Harwood, and if Cassidy wins, he and any member of The Conglomeration can challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. But when Harwood wins, FTR gets a shot at the AEW World Trios Championships. Stoke said he knows Cassidy wants him in the ring, but they have a different partner in “Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa walked in and said the last time he tagged with FTR, he put Mark Briscoe on the shelf indefinitely. This time, they are going to take the trios titles. He pulled a piece of popcorn out of Stoke’s beard and said, “Top guys, out.” Ciampa ate the popcorn and waved!

AEW World Championship Match: Darby Allin (c) vs. Brody King

The main event began with a handshake between Allin and King before they returned to their respective corners. Allin charged at King with a dropkick, but King overpowered Allin with a chop to Allin’s back off a springboard. King hit a release German Suplex out of the corner and a cannonball in the opposite corner! King lifted Allin for the Gonzo Bomb, so Allin punched his way free. The two battled in the corner, where Allin came off the top turnbuckle for an Avalanche Code Red on King for a near-fall! King rolled to the outside, so Allin charged through the ropes with a dive, only to bounce off King and crumble to the floor! King had Allin set up in a chair near the barricade, but Allin moved when King tried to sandwich him in the barricade. Allin sat King in the chair and went to the top rope. Allin came off the top with a dropkick to King on the floor!

After a devastating senton from King to Allin, King chopped Allin off the top rope to the floor! King slammed Allin on the apron with authority and cleared off the announce desk. He removed the top and propped it up against the barricade. We saw TNT Champion “The Jet’ Kevin Knight watching from the crowd to find out who he’ll be facing next week for the AEW World Championship. Allin jumped on King’s back and started to put him to sleep with a choke, but King woke back up and ran Allin into the table top, which broke it in half. MJF was also keeping a close eye on the match from a backstage monitor.

King picked up Allin, but Allin slipped free and pushed King into the corner of the desk. King fought back with chops, and the two fought on the announce desk. King grabbed Allin in a hanging choke, but Allin escaped and leaped back on the desk with a Code Red to King! Allin got back in the ring, but as King struggled to his feet, Allin threw himself at King with a torpedo-like dive. Allin went to the top rope for a Coffin Drop, but King stopped him and hanged Allin in the tree of woe. King came across the ring with a huge cannonball and followed with a short-range lariat for a near-fall! King hit another lariat, but once again, Allin kicked out! How much punishment could Allin take?

King put Allin in the corner, but missed a charge when Allin moved. Allin chopped King through pain until King grabbed Allin and threw him over the top rope into a cameraman! King went out after Allin, who grabbed at the protective mat to get away. Allin kicked away until King chopped him back down. King tried a cannonball into the barricade, but Allin moved, and King obliterated the barricade! Allin pulled more of the protective padding up and returned to the ring. King and Allin battled near the apron until King tried to suplex Allin onto the floor. Allin escaped and slipped under King to powerbomb him from the apron to the exposed concrete floor!

Allin went back to the top rope and smashed King with a Coffin Drop, with King still on the concrete floor. King dove in the ring to beat the 10-count only to get nailed with another Coffin Drop. Allin added another Coffin Drop and pinned King to retain the AEW World Championship! Knight looked on from the crowd with the promise of an AEW World Title shot from Allin waiting next week, although Knight has to defend the TNT Title against HOOK this weekend on Collision. King and Allin shook hands, and King left the ring for Allin to celebrate.
