AEW DYNAMITE was broadcast on TBS and streamed on MAX live from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, VA!
AEW Dynamite: Results for April 30 in Norfolk, VA
Excalibur, “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz, and Tony Schiavone were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.
It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!
All Star 8-Man Tag Match!
AEW International Champion Kenny Omega, Mark Briscoe, Speedball Mike Bailey, & Kevin Knight
vs.
AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada, Ricochet, & The Young Bucks—Matthew & Nicholas Jackson!
“What a way to start Dynamite!” said Excalibur.
The fans chanted “Kenny! Kenny! Kenny!”
“This is something we always wanted to see since the formation of AEW…Omega on one side and Okada on the other. Man, what a moment,” said Schiavone.
Okada backed off from a collar and elbow tie-up from Omega and tagged out. The other team swarmed Omega. Nicholas Jackson thumbed Omega in the eye. Matthew Jackson used a water pump arm breaker on Omega while taunting the crowd. Omega turned it around and forced Ricochet’s arm into Matthew’s arm breaker.
Bailey and Knight worked in tandem on Ricochet. Briscoe clobbered Nicholas Jackson with a pump kick. Briscoe and Bailey served up some redneck Kungfu and taekwondo to the Bucks!
Bailey used a knee strike on Ricochet to counter a brain buster attempt. Okada tagged in and tried for a brain buster, but Briscoe and Kevin Knight ran in to bring Bailey down to his feet gently.
The fans chanted “This is awesome! This is awesome!”
Kevin Knight blasted Nicholas with lariats. The Jet brought down Nick with a hurracanrana for a near fall. Matthew cracked Omega with a superkick. Matt superkicked Bailey! Ricochet and Nick used tandem offense on Bailey and Omega.
Matthew spiked Kenny with a DDT! Omega popped up and dunked Ricochet headfirst onto the mat. Briscoe planted Okada with a fisherman buster for a near fall.
“What a kick out by Okada. I thought Briscoe had him,” said Taz.
Okada fired back with a neck breaker to Briscoe. Okada dropped an elbow from the top rope, feeling confident. Knight back flipped and kicked both Bucks. Okada blasted Briscoe with a John Woo style dropkick.
Okada and Omega had a stare down in the center of the ring and then began to tried strikes, picking up right where they left off in Osaka. Okada got drilled by Omega’s snap dragon. Okada dropkicked Omega’s attempt at a V Trigger.
Briscoe ducked a BTE Trigger. Briscoe planted Okada with the Jay Driller but Ricochet jumped in to break up the pin attempt.
“If Ricochet didn’t break it up, Briscoe was getting the win,” said Taz.
Omega did his Terminator dive on the opposition. Briscoe hit a Death Valley Driver on Okada. Ricochet pushed Mark off the top rope. Okada connected with the rainmaker lariat and pinned Briscoe.
We heard from AEW World Tag Team Champions The Hurt Syndicate—Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, with MVP!
Shelton said he was skeptical about MJF, but they trust MVP. MVP said MJF could be beneficial to them. And if MJF screws them over, they will hurt MJF like he’s never been hurt before, said MVP with a smirk, as the rest of the Hurt Syndicate fist bumped.
Trios Match!
AEW World Trios Champs The Opps—Shibata, Samoa Joe, and Powerhouse Hobbs
vs. Rhett Titus, Myles Hawkins, and Nick Commoroto!
Samoa Joe jabbed away at Titus. Shibata threw Titus into the corner and Nick grabbed a tag. Shibata booted Nick in the mush. Hobbs steamrolled Myles with a powerslam. Hobbs decimated Hawkins with a spinebuster and grabbed a decisive victory.
After the match, the Death Riders blindsided The Opps! Samoa Joe took down Moxley and applied a rear naked choke. Claudio slammed Shibata onto a steel chair, the same way they injured HOOK several weeks ago.
Samoa Joe: “Mox! It seems to me that Moxley likes to come out here and act like he’s the boss, but when we start throwing hands, he acts like a little bitch. Mox, you came out here weeks ago and you begged for me, one on one. And all I’m trying to do is give you what you want. But it seems like you don’t want that. But you’ve already made your request. I say let’s give the people what they want. If I’m going to fight you for the AEW World Championship, Mox, you cowardly SOB, let’s do it inside the steel cage!”
“Samoa Joe raising the stakes for Beach Break!” said Excalibur.
Renee Paquette interviewed TBS Champion Mercedes Mone!
Mercedes: “I’m a global champion. Let’s get real, the Owen Cup is about my legacy. I’m 25-0 in singles competition. I’ve beaten the best all over the globe. I am the best. I am the greatest. The wrestling world runs on my time. Every time I step into the ring, I change the game. Jamie Hayter reminds me of myself, except for her Scooby Doo style.”
Renee Paquette interviewed Nick Wayne and the Patriarchy!
Jay Lethal interrupted. Lethal said he was there to talk to Nick Wayne, not Christian Cage.
“You’re young and you’ve still got a lot to prove. So why don’t you prove something tonight?” asked Lethal.
“I’m not really warmed up,” replied Nick.
“He accepts!” said Christian Cage.
AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator Match!
Toni Storm (c.) vs. Miyu Yamashita!
Toni connected with a Thesz Press and then a snap suplex on the challenger. Miyu meant business, though, and kicked Toni in the face. Toni intercepted another kick. Miyu dodged the hip attack and walloped Toni with kicks to the buttocks.
Both competitors traded strikes in the center of the ring. Miyu absorbed the contact and dished out a roundhouse to the back of the champ’s head. Toni nailed Miyu with a release German Suplex. Miyu connected with the skull kick for a near fall! Toni planted Miyu with the Sky High.
Storm plowed into Miyu with the hip attack and finished her off with the Storm Zero, scoring the 1-2-3!
“Storm remains a perfect 10-0 in eliminator matches,” said Excalibur.
The CEO TBS Champ Mercedes Mone walked onto the ramp!
Mercedes: “Toni, darling, good to see you. After I beat Jamie Hayter at Double Or Nothing, I’m coming for what I deserve and coming for the AEW Women’s World Championship!”
Jamie Hayter stormed out and decked Mercedes in the mush!
AEW World Tag Team Champions The Hurt Syndicate—Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, with MVP came to the ring!
MVP: “This is an official announcement from the Hurt Syndicate. As you know, we’ve been discussing adding a fourth member to our ranks. In order to do so, that prospect must receive a unanimous three thumbs up. We’re going to try this one more time. Please join me in inviting MJF to join us in the ring.”
MJF’s music hit and Max strolled to the ring.
MJF: “Cut my music. Shelton, look how great he looks. MVP, you’re a legend, I love you. Bob. You have a good car ride in, bub?”
MVP: “Let’s get to the vote. Remember our discussion. Thumbs up from MVP. Thumbs up from Shelton. Roberto?”
Lashley gave the thumbs down, toying with MJF.
MJF: “You know what Bob, I’m sick of your stuff. What is it exactly that you want? Money, cars, what is it that would intrigue you? How about some Rogaine?”
Bobby backed MJF into the corner and said, “You want to impress me? You hurt somebody!”
ROH World TV Championship Match!
“The Patriarchy’s” Nick Wayne (c.) vs. Jay Lethal!
Lethal chopped at Nick Wayne. Lethal used an arm drag to take down Nick. Lethal dropkicked Nick, who was still down on the mat. Lethal walloped Nick with a tope. Nick fired back with a hurracanrana on the floor!
“Jay Lethal wasn’t expecting that one bit,” said Taz.
Jay nailed Nick with the Lethal Combination for a near fall. Lethal dropped a big elbow but Wayne baited him in and cradled Lethal for a two-count. Wayne school boy’ed Lethal for another near fall. Nick stunned Lethal with a roundhouse kick and then pinned him after an inverted fisherman buster!
It was announced that in two weeks, at Beach Break, it’ll be Jon Moxley defending his AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe in a Steel Cage Match!
The Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Semifinal Match!
“The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher (with Don Callis & Lance Archer)
vs. “Hangman” Adam Page!
Page knocked Fletcher off his feet with a chop. Page pounded Fletcher in the corner with more clubbing blows. Hangman trucked Fletcher with a running lariat outside the ring!
Back in the ring, Page used a sliding lariat. Page drilled Kyle with a Death Valley Driver for a near fall. Page threw Kyle with a fallaway slam. Page knocked down Kyle with a jumping lariat. Page ate a thrust kick from Kyle on the apron. Fletcher spiked Page with a brain buster on the apron! Page impaled Fletcher with a tombstone on the floor!
Page delivered a thunderous superplex to Kyle Fletcher. Kyle fired back with a half and half suplex. Page power bombed Fletcher but Fletcher kicked out at 2.999!
“Back and forth it goes!” said Tony Schiavone.
Page nailed Kyle with the Dead Eye but Fletcher survived the pin fall attempt. Fletcher raised his knees to counter a moonsault. Fletcher closed the distance on a Buckshot attempt. Page caught Fletcher with a DeadEye on the apron! Page connected with a moonsault to Kyle on the arena floor. Kyle hit a low blow as the ref’s back was turned, and followed up with a brain buster on Page, but somehow Page kicked out!
Page battered Fletcher with a buckshot lariat, and then a second buckshot, and pinned Fletcher!
“What an effort by both men!” said Tony Schiavone.
