AEW Dynamite Results

For the final week of the action-packed residency in Chicago, AEW Dynamite was back at the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom, on a night when Hangman Adam Page would defend the AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley one more time with everyone barred from ringside. Hangman had enough on his plate with his first title defense, yet by the end of the night, his attention was pulled in the direction of another potential challenger: MJF.

We also saw the former EVPs, The Young Bucks, sneak by The Outrunners in the quarterfinals of the AEW World Tag Team Championship Eliminator Tournament. Christian Cage returned to AEW for the first time since All In: Texas to address Adam Copeland and what happened to the Patriarchy, but the former father met another Conchairto from Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian. ROH Women’s World Champion Athena scored a shocking pinfall over AEW Women’s World Champion Timeless Toni Storm in tag team action. MJF learned Bobby Lashley isn’t the only one in The Hurt Syndicate to give him a thumbs down. And Ricochet and Mark Briscoe attempt to settle their long-standing score.

Here’s everything that went down on a loaded episode of AEW Dynamite for July 30, 2025, including your full results and match recaps.

AEW Dynamite Recap Tonight for Chicago

Hangman Adam Page. Jon Moxley. One More Time. TONIGHT.

Before heading to the ring for the opening contest, it was time to take a trip through the violent past of AEW Champion Hangman Adam Page and challenger Jon Moxley. While their Texas Death Match featured brutality of lots of interference, the rematch is about keeping everyone else out and letting these two settle it. With everyone banned from ringside, it goes down one more time for the AEW Title LIVE in Chicago later tonight!

The Young Bucks def. The Outrunners

We kicked off the action with the AEW World Tag Team Championship Eliminator Tournament, as the Youngest Men Alive, The Outrunners’ Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd, made their way to the ring with plenty of support from the raucous crowd. Their opponents, the Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, were already in the ring. Unfortunately, the former EVPs were not afforded a televised entrance or proper name graphics. Sorry, guys!

With the Bucks clearly off their games, the Outrunners got off to a hot start, but it was the former AEW World Tag Team Champions, Matt and Nick, who took control on the outside. Matt even went as far as to hijack the legendary Tony Schiavone’s headset to let the world know that the “superstars” were here and should be afforded the proper respect.

Even without their typical executive luxuries, the Bucks obviously still know how to get it done and had Truth Magnum in dire straits. Finally, Magnum was able to find just enough daylight to make the tag to a fired up Turbo Floyd. The fresh Floyd completely changed the momentum of the match and with Total Recall seemingly coming, the Bucks battled back with a set of superkicks only for Floyd to shake off the damage with a desperation double clothesline.

“You son of a bitch!” echoed throughout the ballroom soon after as Floyd and Magnum hit The Double Bicep Elbow for a near fall.

Later, a near collision between Matt Jackson and referee Rick Knox gave Jackson the chance to hit an undetected low blow on Truth Magnum, but a shoving match between Jackson and Knox nearly saw the Outrunners pull the upset. Turbo and Truth hit Total Recall on Matt, which seemed to spell the end for the Bucks, but Nick saved his brother just in time.

The Bucks were able to separate The Outrunners and delivered a TK Driver to Truth Magnum for the win and advanced to the semifinals of the AEW Tag Team Eliminator Tournament, much to the chagrin of the Chicago crowd.

The AEW Unified Champion, The Rainmaker Kazuchika Okada then hit the ring to celebrate for an Elite celebration. However, that quickly turned into a further beatdown of The Outrunners.

WHOSE HOUSE?

Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland appeared on the stage with Prince Nana and, with The Elite distracted, Floyd and Magnum dispatched of the Bucks, leaving Okada alone to get ping-ponged between The Outrunners and Swerve. Strickland decided that wasn’t enough and hit a massive stomp to the outside on all three members of The Elite, as he, Floyd, and Magnum stood tall.

A Different Attitude for Mark Briscoe?

Backstage, Mark Briscoe was interrupted by Ricochet and the Gates of Agony. Ricochet told Briscoe that tonight, he could leave him in his own blood, just like he did the last time they met at Double or Nothing in their Stretcher Match. Briscoe told Ricochet he’s a different man and he’ll whoop his ass, but that will only be a fraction of what he has for MJF.

MJF Not So Happy Without The Hurt Syndicate

MJF was by himself backstage gloating about being in the #1 movie in the world while holding his guaranteed AEW World Championship Match contract.

He knocked on The Hurt Syndicate’s locker room and was met by one half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions, Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin informed MJF that MVP wasn’t here tonight because he was disgusted with MJF’s actions. It was then revealed that MJF’s Rolex gift was a fake and Benjamin knew all along, but he went along with it because of MVP’s endorsement. He then told MJF to get out of the building. And one more thing, as far as you and The Hurt Syndicate, you are out! With a big thumbs down and a door shut in MJF’s face.

Christian Cage Addresses Patriarchy, Adam Copeland, But Gets Taken Out Again

Tony Schiavone was in the ring to introduce a man we haven’t seen since All In Texas, Christian Cage. What would the former Patriarchy leader have to say after Cope told him to “Go find, yourself?”

”Tony, my name is Christian Cage…and I’m an asshole.”

Cage went to say that he was numb to the world because he was obsessed with becoming the AEW World Champion. He recalled his failed attempt to use his guaranteed contract at Revolution only to see a glimpse of the past, in Copeland.

Cage didn’t think Nick Wayne, Kip Sabian, and Shayna Wayne were competent enough to pull it off, so he deviated from the plan that night. Cage admitted there’s a line of people who want to maim him for what he’s done.

Finally, Christian addressed Adam Copeland and all the terrible things he said would do, but he reminded Copeland that Copeland has done the same and seems to rest well at night.

“I do know this, you and I are so different, but somehow Adam, somehow, we are the same.”

Cage said The Patriarchy embarrassed him at All In. They decided they didn’t need a Patriarch any more. Cage admitted he handed Nick, Kip, and Shayna the entitlement they have.

Christian admitted Nick has more talent than he does and he has every tool to be the face of AEW, but he’ll have to go through Christian Cage to do so.

“Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian, I disown you.”

As Cage got to the top of the ramp, he was met by Shanya Wayne. While Cage was able to snuff out a sneak attack from Sabian, he turned right into a flying Wayne, who leveled Christian with his ROH TV Championship. Wayne and Sabian brought the former leader of the Patriarchy to his feet and crushed his head with a vertical Conchairto!

FTR Meet The Young Bucks

Stoke gloated over FTR’s victory and then addressed Copeland, The Hurt Syndicate, Juice Robinson and Colten Gunn. Before he could say anything more, the Young Bucks walked into the locker room to have words with their old rivals. When Dax and Cash exited, Stoke took to mocking the Bucks about their lost status within the company.

AEW World Championship Match: Hangman Adam Page def. Jon Moxley

With security surrounding the ringside area, it was time for the AEW World Championship match with everyone banned from ringside. Challenger Jon Moxley made his usual entrance through the crowd, although he had to do so without Marina Shafir. As chants of “Cowboy Shit” began, the champion, Hangman Adam Page, entered with a purpose. Ring announcer Justin Roberts made the proper championship introductions and it was time for Hangman vs Mox, One. More. Time!

A collar-and-elbow tie-up actually opened this match, as there was a level of caution between both men. Hangman quickly threw that caution to the wind and began unloading on Moxley in the corner. That seemed to snap Mox into gear and the two began trading chops. Page ended up choking Moxley from the top rope, only for Mox to bail outside. The champion immediately followed with a massive clothesline sending the leader of the Death Riders into the timekeeper’s area.

Back in the ring, Hangman wasn’t in control for long, as Mox took the advantage with a big German suplex. Moxley mounted Hangman in the corner and delivered 10 punches, punctuating his efforts by digging his knuckles into Page’s forehead.

However, in a clear example of both men knowing each other so well, it was Hangman who regained control. Mox nearly avoided disaster by ducking Page’s springboard clothesline, but the champ came right back with another from the opposite side. Page got Mox back in the ring and hit a Death Valley Driver for a two-count.

Both men spilled back to the outside and you guessed it, the tide shifted yet again. Moxley was able to send Hangman into the steel steps, and quickly snatched the champion up to hit a brutal piledriver on the very same steps!

Moxley grinded down Page on the may with various submissions and began hitting kicks on a sitting Page reminiscent of the American Dragon Bryan Danielson. Page snatched a final kick attempt by Moxley to get to his feet and the two began trading chops in the middle of the ring!

Hangman hit a Teardrop Suplex, which Mox initially tried to shake off, only to be crushed by another huge clothesline. The two men found themselves back outside and on top of the announce desk. Page reversed another piledriver attempt by Mox into a Deadeye on the table!

Page continued the offense in the ring and a big tombstone garnered another late kickout from Moxley. As Hangman looked to the crowd for just a split second too long, Moxley took advantage bringing the champion down to the mat only for Page to turn the situation into a submission of his own.

The two men rolled to the apron and it was yet another piledriver by Moxley to Hangman, this time on the hardest part of the ring!

Moxley followed that with a Gotch-Style Piledriver, but Hangman kicked out again!

A Buckshot Lariat attempt was thwarted by Moxley into an attempt at the Paradigm Shift only for Hangman to hit a Buckshot Lariat!

With the referee down, Claudio Castignoli and Wheeler Yuta appeared in the crowd, drawing the attention of the ringside security. Marina Shafir took advantage of the smoke screen and brought the AEW World Championship to Mox who cracked the title over Page’s head…but Hangman kicked out at 2.999999!

Once referee Paul Turner saw the Death Riders at ringside, he had security escort them back through the crowd. High above, Darby Allin appeared in a balcony box and came crashing down onto Castignoli, Yuta, Shafir, and security! Moxley was stunned!

Back in the ring, Hangman hit Moxley with a Buckshot Lariat and instead of a pin attempt, he went for a Deadeye that Mox nearly turned into a third piledriver, although Hangman would recover to hit the Deadeye and a final Buckshot Lariat to get the pin and retain the AEW World Championship!

Billie Starkz and Athena def. Toni Storm and Alex Windsor

It may be their first time teaming together in AEW, but AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm and one of the newest members of the AEW women’s roster, Alex Windsor, exchanged proper cheek kisses to solidify their bond before facing the Forever ROH Women’s World Champion Athena And Billie Starkz.

It was Windsor and Athena starting things off, or maybe we should say picking things up from their match this past Saturday on Collision. Storm tagged in and it looked like her and Athena were about to throw down, but it was not to be. Starkz tagged in and went right to Storm, bringing us back to their matchup last week on Dynamite.

Storm and Windsor decided to honor the rich history of the Byline Aragon Ballroom by slow-dancing their way into a double boot for Starkz in the corner.

With Athena and Starkz in firm control, they looked like a unit that has been together for much longer. Windsor suffered the brunt of that, including a brutal double-team on her neck. Unable to get to Storm, Windsor somehow battled back with a flurry of offense and actually had Athena pinned following a powerful discus clothesline.

Finally, Storm was able to tag in! The Mongolian Chops rained down upon Starks and Storm continued the offense with a vengeful fury.

Storm hit a huge hip attack on Starkz in the corner, but Storm was unaware that Athena had tagged in and hit the O-Face to pin the AEW Women’s Champion!

Hangman calls MJF a Coward

Backstage, Renee Paquette was set to speak with a victorious Hangman Adam Page, but MJF interrupted before Hangman could say anything. He complains to Hangman that he can’t get a title shot unless it’s under the champion’s terms, which means executing his guaranteed title shot contract. MJF says he misses the time of fighting champions, like Swerve Strickland.

Hangman incredulously asks MJF if he thinks he can be goaded into giving MJF a title shot? He explains that there’s a long line of men who deserve a title shot, including that”Just a bunch of hicks from the sticks sticking together.”

”I don’t see The Hurt Syndicate, so what’s stopping me from beating your ass right now?!’

That was enough for MJF to leave with his guaranteed AEW Championship match contract.

Willow Nightingale Addresses Thekla

After not hearing from Thekla about her challenge issued last week on Dynamite, Willow Nightingale says she went to Tony Khan and he made the match official for tomorrow night’s special Collision! Thekla may have the Triangle of Madness, but Willow is the Trapezoid of Grap-ezoid! Or whatever! Anyone can name shapes! This Thursday, they’ll fight!

Mark Briscoe def. Ricochet

Before Ricochet and Mark Briscoe locked up, we saw highlights of their bloody Stretcher Match from Double or Nothing back in May. On that night, Ricochet was victorious thanks in large part to the golden shears he’s been utilizing as a weapon.

The match started off quickly, as Briscoe fed off a crowd that was fully behind him. As noted by Tony Schiavone, Briscoe seems to be fighting with more of an edge since his various back and forths with MJF both in and out of the ring.

Briscoe continued to control the pace with an increased level of intensity, cutting off Ricochet from building any kind of offense.

Ricochet tried to find some separation but was knocked from the top rope to the outside. As Briscoe fired up for a dive, the Gates of Agony, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun made their way down the ramp. Their presence paid immediate dividends, as Ricochet was able to attack the distracted Briscoe from behind.

Being in control wasn’t enough for Ricochet, as he tried to introduce a chair into the match, only to be stopped by referee Bryce Remsburg. Briscoe got a schoolboy for a two count and appeared to be turning the tide. He hit a chop directly to bald head of Ricochet

Ricochet had the Spirit Gun loaded up, but Briscoe was ready and ducked it, taking control back once again.

Briscoe went for a kick through the ropes but it was Bishop Kaun taking the shot, getting Ricochet out the way. Briscoe wasn’t done, though, as he springboard somersaulted himself off a chair to take out Ricochet and Toa Liona on the outside.

Briscoe went to the top for a Froggy Bow. With wounded, Ricochet hit a Vertigo, and somehow Briscoe kicked out. Before GoA could cause any more damage, Brodido hit the ring and took them out. Those two teams meet in the quarterfinals of the AEW Tag Team Championship Tournament.

Without any distractions on the outside, Mark hit a huge lariat followed by a Jay Driller for the win!

The night was not over, as Mark Briscoe called for the mic. Briscoe said MJF bringing up his brother’s name was shame on you, but bringing it up again was shame on me. Briscoe said he never felt like this before and that he needs help. For the first time, “I really feel like I may never see my brother again” because he might kill MJF in cold blood…with zero remorse. ”I’m worried. I’m worried… MJF, make my day, damnit.”

He then called out MJF to come out right now.

MJF’s music hit and with Briscoe staring at the entrance way, MJF was nowhere to be found. MJF appeared backstage and questioned if Mascot Mark dropped the comedy routine. He admitted that he had to do something about being called a coward so he went to Tony Khan and next week, it’s MJF vs Briscoe in the main event – if he makes it.

With Briscoe still focused on the video boards, MJF attacked from behind and began yelling for Hangman. The AEW World Champion made his way to the ring, allowing Briscoe to recover, and sent MJF retreating, as he clearly missed the backup of The Hurt Syndicate.
